I did, and more than once. It wasn't painless, but it was worth while. I think that this sort of change needs someone close to the person who's (possibly) going to change, though.

don't know if it counts as glam, but David Essex 'Lamplight' deserves a mention. Sparks, 'This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us'. And some Lou Reed stuff is worth thinking about.

Violins (violin proper, viola, cello) are tuned in fifths and have a different body shape to viols, which are tuned in fourths. The different body shape shows at the neck joint (violins are rounded, where viol bodies come to a point) and at the cutouts (violins have those ornate points, where viols are plain and squared-off). But I'd definitely want to tune in fourths in the double-bass register anyway, so that may be beside the point.

I've got a black GSRM-20, bought a couple of years ago. I've never got round to replacing the stock strings, so I may not be the best reviewer in the world That said, it seems well enough made. With the stock strings, the E string is rather soggy.

Bought an Amplug from Mark. All went smoothly, no issues at all, and a helpful hint on best use as well. Recommended. thanks Mark

hello and welcome My sister's lad has an RBX170; it's nice and plays well, but I find the body uncomfortable to play sitting down (perhaps I just have funny-shaped legs?). I did offer to buy it from him, but he was all "I'm not selling it, it's too nice to play". Whatever else people say about the youth of today, some of them do actually know when they're having fun

That bass looks pretty, but I'm not sure about the headstock. Still, I reckon I'd get used to it if it had cost me £88 and sounded and played nicely Welcome aboard, anyway!

oooh... this is probably the worst place you could possibly be, if you can't stretch to another bass right now. GAS is lurking round the corner... Welcome aboard
