    In school I played cello. Stopped that when I was 17 due to other things. I noticed, in my 40s, I'd spent my entire adult life thinking of myself as "musical" without playing a note. A friend of mine had guitar, wanted to play with someone. I knew I wasn't interested in the lead guitar widdling and that I preferred the lower end of the scale. I might have been a rhythm player if I'd tried to learn on an electric, I suppose.

    Thanks for the pics But I should have been more specific, sorry. Are the side dots on the positions where the frets would be? In other words, are they in the right place for fretless play? I've been ambushed by this before, which is why I ask.

    I agree with almost all of that, except that a tort pickguard seems to go very nicely on a blue bass. Weird.

    I bought Dave's fretless Steinberger Spirit, and an elegant little beast it is. Nice guy, all went well, I'd have no hesitation in dealing with him again. Thanks Dave
