  1. Wow. I'm stunned all over again every time I look at this. How thick will the neck be at the nut, front to back, if I may ask?
  2. Are they old strings? Maybe they have a limited lifespan?
  3. Thanks. Also the Yamaha RBX200, which is why I'm asking... it's not worth spending a lot on a £100 bass, sadly.
  4. That's what I thought. Thanks, that's a lot cheaper than trying it
  5. I suppose I could try something barbarous and find a 24-fret I could shorten... 😮 Would the trussrod be too long, though?
  6. If this is what it claims to be it might be worth a punt. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-string-bass-guitar/153173217726?hash=item23a9d5d1be:g:XXUAAOSwS-dblPzV
  7. Remain In Light and Fear Of Music were the peak, IMO. There was a time there where they were the best band in the world. The Stop Making Sense reading of 'Heaven' will be played at my funeral.
  8. Body sold. TRC also gone. Advert being closed - I'll put the tuners up separately. Parts from my SGC Nanyo Bass Collection SB301, which I'm now parting out - it has fingerboard/truss rod issues, so it won't sell as is. I haven't the time or skill or patience to sort it out, and I need the space. Black passive four-string. Not MIJ as far as is known (not labelled and s/n 26907 is inconsistent) - probably Korean pre-production when they were gearing up to move the production out of Japan. Currently as loaded body and loaded neck. Neck with TR cover. Trussrod maxed, doubtful gluing of fingerboard to neck. Currently with the Gotoh tuners on it. £25 posted or £18 for the tuners on their own. TR cover off to the USA tomorrow, probably. The neck screws are of two different lengths - if you want them, please remind me. Body with buttons and ferrules, pickups and electrics, bridge. £25 posted - now sold pending. Pickups are P/J, both labelled SGC, some wear to the logos on the P. Electrics + 4 knobs. Crackly when turned - probably fixable with a burst of contact cleaner. Bridge. Pics later.
  9. Earl Grey? Wasn't he the guy who kept getting his whistle tested?
  10. Went for £53. I read a review of these a few years ago - not complimentary. I seem to recall the singlecut Spears were not bad for the money though.
  11. Can anyone suggest a source? Fretless preferred, but not essential Alternatively, what brands/makes use 22-fret necks? Thanks folks
  12. Wow. Just as well it's got too many strings and frets! Good luck with your sale
  13. That's a really useful read Pin, please, mods
  14. I think the headstock is probably where your hairspray went
  15. I'm after a 705... I think Ibanez aren't making new ones at the moment. I hope they change their minds and start again.
  16. Farida FJB-6. This is a bolt-on Farida J-J passive four-string, in candy apple red with a mint/black/mint scratchplate. I bought it through eBay and never used it much. Nice, well-made J-style bass with the typical Farida short lower horn. It has seen a fair bit of use but has no serious scars; the worst are a millimetre-size pit on the back of the neck - possibly put there deliberately, but certainly not by me - and a scrape on the lower body, not visible from the front and not large. The scratchplate has lots of small scratches. I've tried to take pics. The truss rod turns happily. It's not a lightweight at 4.7kg (10.4lb), so probably best avoided if you have back trouble. It's a nice bass, but I'm not using it - mostly playing fretless nowadays. £100 plus carriage. Bank transfer preferred. The bass is in Poole and I'd be happy to drive an hour or so to deliver or meet. Or it can be couriered at buyer's cost and risk; it will be properly packed. Edit: Some pics.
  17. Not my thing, but that's really well done. Plus they have a cellist
  18. More practice you tosser! (aimed at myself). Is that really how it goes?! If he says "one more time with feeling" again I'm going to kill him.
