  1. I liked Low's approach: turn down the amps.
  2. Hohner B Bass B. An eBay purchase; I don't need it and could use the space. It's Korean-made; I gather that these were made between 1994 and 1996. They seem to be quite uncommon. It's a passive bolt-on four-string, maple body and neck, rosewood board. Neck is 34-inch, 24 frets, 40mm wide at the nut. Truss rod turns happily; the cover is missing but I may well have it somewhere. Two J-style pickups; VVT controls. The neck pickup V-control is crackly, but I doubt this is a serious issue. It sounds pretty good, to me. Paired strap-buttons under the right hand so that you can lean it against something with minimal risk of it falling over. Neck is nice to play. It needs new strings and a clean and setup. The body's a fetching blue, rather darker and more intense than the first pic shows. Finish isn't terribly even, but it's as good as any of the Westfields I've played. It has its share of minor nicks and dents, but nothing unexpected in a bass of this age and certainly nothing bad; I think the worst is a chip in the body by the neck pocket. It would suit someone looking for a project, a starter, or someone wanting an inexpensive backup. I think it punches above its weight, personally. Originally priced at £100, plus carriage. Offers welcome.
  3. Are there side dots? I'm still struggling with FL, but I'm getting closer
  4. Guessing they made a more expensive active model as well. One line to shape all the P bodies, only one back cover to design and source, useful little saver.
  5. It's a while ago. I didn't buy a bass specifically for it. I can't remember if anything arrived then either.
  6. I hope your health issue is sorted out soon and with a minimum of nastiness.
  7. I think I've got the pickup out of one of those in a bitsa. It would probably be good for metal, if I played metal.
  8. It's always possible to paint a clip-on tuner a different colour Or at least the bit facing the audience. (Just don't paint the display...)
  9. It's just as well this isn't fretless. Good luck with your sale!
  10. Top qulity... Points to whoever provides the best definition of "qulity". (Bonus points for the best etymology )
  11. "Postage via myhermes"... any bets on how many pieces it'll arrive in?
  12. The "white" silicone ones do indeed. They also snap if you look at them cross-eyed... I didn't mind the sticky or the impression of a serious marching-powder habit, but I did hate having to replace the strings every two or three weeks.
  13. It probably will, when that "extra" string goes on...
  14. Ignorance and laziness and a desire to sound authoritative. Doesn't know what the informed actually look for, can't be arsed to find out, but still wants to sound as if he knows what he's talking about, because that will mean his price must be realistic.
  15. Can't play guitar at all. (OTOH, certain band members I know would say I can't play bass either.) I started on cello, and I think I'm moving back in that direction.
  16. Probably bought the wrong ones by accident... and may still be unaware of it.
