1. I was, but that's quite a long time ago, and I found one. Someone else, I guess.
2. That shouldn't be around long. Sorry to hear of the surprise. GLWTS!
3. These are lovely. I've got an orange one and a fretless (reboarded) in blue; my favourite basses. Nylon-wound strings go well on them Why Yamaha stopped building them I've no idea.
4. One picture, for $4500 BIN... people are weird.
5.
Long time no bump............
That must mean there's some sort of problem...
6.
I think you are supposed to rest the section with the controls on your leg classical guitar style.
Ah, OK. I can sort of see how that might work. Thanks.
7. I dislike Flying Vs quite a lot. Oddly, that doesn't seem quite as objectionable, somehow. I have no idea why. It does look a lot like a pair of tongs; I'm sure some people would like to see it put in a fire
8. That bridge design... I begin to see why a lot of people don't like Rics much.
9. hi Marc - hoping all's well with you. Can you bow it, or is the bridge flat?
10. Only one pic, for a bass priced north of 3 grand? Seems odd.
11. Blimey. I'm not sure whether that's silly, awful or the best thing since sliced hard-boiled egg. It looks properly uncomfortable to play sitting down though.
12.
I thought he meant blues!
Whoops... sorry about that
13. I bought strings from Cameron. All very quick and simple, and I'd be pleased to trade again. Thanks
14.
Used to work with Mary Christmas... it was her married name so she only had herself to blame!
And her husband!
15. Two of my relatives are trying to sell harps (separately); both instruments are professional-quality. Neither has been able to find anywhere sensible to do so. Any ideas, please? Thanks
16. Interesting - I've ambitions to do the same, when I've got the time (hee hee), so I'm pleased to see this thread.
17. There were quite a lot of Italian violin/viola basses made in the 60s (Eko, IIRC, and others), and I think some Bulgarian-made ones. Could it be one of those?
18.
Those cracks put me right off. I bought one of these a few years ago, in goldfish orange. Sadly when it arrived the body had snapped clean in half.
Exactly this. I bought one, and it lost its lower horn in transit. I'd hold out for an original wooden one (an Affirma, IIRC), but they are not easy to find and not really within my price range.
19. Wow. I think I probably want one... not that I can afford one or find space for it.
20. Sounds fascinating, I wish I could see the pics... Photobucket prevents it.
21. I suppose you could keep the ramp...
