  1. Nice, I wish I used mine more, they sound great. I also changed the tuners on mine to hipshot lites. Moved the strap button as well as didn't like how it balanced. With the original bridge I was just about able to get the action good enough for me. Strung mine with some nylon tape wounds and it sounds huge. The bass seems to sound great with most types of strings. Enjoy.
  2. Nice! I had one a while ago, great bass's, the tone control is amazing for a single pickup passive bass. All the Mexican roadworns I have tried have been great. Unfortunately I preferred using my long scale basses in live settings in the end and moved it on. Hope it works for you.
  3. I have a CV 50's. It's decent enough, I did stick some flats on it for my taste. Holds tuning well, fretwork is ok. The pickup is a little bit hotter and more trebly than the MIJ Fender 50 I once had, but you can dial it off a bit with the knobs Like all the 50's basses I have tried it's a little uneven in sound over the neck to my ears and the only complaint I have about them. Think I got mine for under €300 new.
  4. I read a few mixed reviews on these before I pulled the trigger! Couldn't find one to try locally so ordered untried online. Really liking it so far, satin modern c neck with a pretty flat radius feels really good and fast getting about. Never had a Fender PJ before and recently started to like playing basses with dual pickups. The active circuit seems pretty tame and easy to dial in a fairly natural sound (at least to my ears). Really like the tight sound of the j pickup blended in slightly with the p I get to try it with the band next week and hopefully sounds good.
  5. Hope you get it all sorted! I just picked up the PJ plus version and it's a killer bass. The same ballpark as the Jazz I would guess.
  6. Brilliant had 2 bass players in their early days. 80's goodness. Saw them a few times live
  7. I had one in my CIJ Fender 50 reissue. Sounded better compared to the original and killed the hum which was my main reason for changing it. That was a good few years back, the bass came and went but I have bought another 50's since then (stock pickup still)
  8. Update, I sent it back for a refund and picked up a new Squier CV 50's tele P. Give me a different feel and sound from the other P's I own, and a bass I won't mind dragging out to casual jams etc. Haven't had any of the CV's before, but can confirm this is of decent quality and build. Basic setup and its feeling good. Little bit of fret spout but I can sort that out later. I'd say it's almost on par with the Fender Jap reissue Used to own- Got it for just over €300 new, not bad. Picci attached.
  9. Funny, I can return it but their guitar experts said the colour mismatch is an intentional finish and can't guarantee me an even finish Might try one swap to see if I can get lucky.
  10. Hi. It was surprisingly quiet! Pickups and electronics were pretty good on this.
  11. Thanks for all your feedback. I decided I'm going to send it back for a replacement and see if I can get something that matches a little better. Fingers crossed. A lot of things I like about the bass, the neck width and thickness is really nice, ( and different from the other P's I own) pickups sound good and it is nicely balanced and weighted all a plus for me. Stay tuned, I'll update on the replacement.
  12. I just collected this and have somewhat mixed feelings atm. The thing plays and sounds great and is setup nicely straight out of the box. On playing and feel alone it's a keeper. The thing that bothers me a bit is the way the satin finish has been slightly mismatched on the body. I'm not a stickler for perfect and don't mind the worn- in -look, but thought they might of done a better job with it. Is it that an even satin finish is harder to achieve than a gloss? Tried to photo what I see. Any thoughts?
  13. Nice, I ordered the Vintage Satin blonde as well, should be here this week. I also have the Flea J
  14. Oh no! I built something I really like on the configuration. Really don't need another bass
  15. That's good to hear, some faith restored. 102 page thread on Talkbass about the RB's and didn't notice much mention of failures. I remember getting a new TC Electronics amp and having to send it back 3 times (almost gave up on them), The 3rd one is still working and with me over 10 years later. I feel for dontregartha, a new amp letting you down mid gig would be a nightmare and I'd be reluctant to use it again.
  16. Sad to hear that, I picked up the 210 a few weeks back and only used it at home so far but do have plans to use it live. Hopefully it's not a consistent with these Sounds nice with what I have done with it so far, some recording.
  17. Haven't tried the other basses, but do have a fretless MC-940. Been with me the longest out of all my basses, rarely play fretless these days but one I'd still grab if needed. Mines fairly heavy as well, guess around the 4.5kg mark, but balances nicely. Enjoy the hunt.
  18. Yep it's true. Not quite as loud as the Rumble 500 on it's own as well. Just picked up the RB 210 to replace my ageing Rumble and happy with the swap. I'm looking to get a 115 to put under it at some point.
  19. I've also been through a few Stingrays, always loved the necks, but not the preamps Been using the P type Cutlass for a while now and hands down my best playing and feeling bass. The feel of a Stingray with all the goodness of a P bass, good for me.
  20. Just picked up a 75 Greco Jazz to go with the (older) P bass I picked up a while ago. Really like these old Japanese basses. Had to have a little work done on each of them but now in good ink. The J bass body seems to be cut from one piece of wood as far as I can tell, think it might of been one of the more expensive models? It weighs a ton compared to the P but plays nice.
  21. Hi folks, After a bit of advice from anyone that has any experience with the newish Ampeg Rocket combo's Long story short, I have been using the Fender Rumble v3 500 combo for many years now for small gigs and jams. I also have the 210 Fender extension cab (used sometimes as well for larger gig) Got a bit bored with the sound and looking to get a Rocket to replace the Fender. Really looking for a single cab solution (for ease) that can keep up with 2 guitars and drums, and like the idea of a 115, and would still have the 210 I can stick under it when needed. Never had a problem mixing speaker sizes in the past. Any thoughts? I also have a bigger rig for practice and large gigs.
  22. I picked up a used Orange Bass Butler di recently, not really used it in anger yet, waiting for a recording opportunity, but it's pretty flexible in terms of OD and distortion, if you like that Orange baked in sound. Been through some SansAmps, Ampeg and Aguilar. Aguilar tone hammer pedal maybe my fav for a cleanish tone.
  23. Looks the biz. I got the OTB head a few weeks back and the guys in my band have been blown away that I can get such a monstrous sound out of such a tiny thing Using mine with a neo 212.
  24. Been using mine since they came out about 6 years or so. I still use it for some gigs, normally just the combo minus the extension (for smaller gigs) Never ran out of volume with it.
  25. I did have just the one for 20 years or so, then discovered the internet and how easy it is to buy and sell and research. Been up to about 10, now down to 6 or 7 They all give me a different feel and make me play different, (better or worse, can't say)
