1.
Is it possible to even move that thing or does the band have to come to you for practice?
We'd all love a go on that
2.
Why not put a link up and let anyone who fancies have a crack at it? Like a Great British Master Off?
Thanks, that's a good idea. Might give that a go at some point. The music isn't that different or special so guess there wouldn't be many takers lol. Roman has promised kindly to give it a go for me, maybe I'll share it after he's done his magic.
3. The Ibanez Musician basses I like, maybe not that collectable but are good quality and won't break the bank.
4.
I'm happy to have a go at a track (i'm assuming it's a full band?) - drop me a PM
That's great thanks, yep it's a 4 piece, Pm on the way.
5. Anyone out there have time or willing to try master a demo for me? I have now mixed it down to one Wav file It's nothing that special, but just wondered what might be done with it
6.
Whenever I record bass i add a bit of an overdrive.Just enough to cut through the mix.The overdrive is not noticeable in mix only when the bass is played hard on its own. It acts mire like a booster. To answer your question. Flats sounds awesome with overdrive.
I sometimes do the same, gives a little more sustain and brightness if the track needs it. I use the Darkglass vintage tubes for the drive.
7.
Wise words indeed Bass_Guardian Ah, I feel better about owning several now - thanks for that
Put me on the takeaway list as well. It's just more love having more than one bass
8. They are nice, I sometimes use my Roadworn P now with flats, pretty much the same bass.
9.
WAL bass is enough for most. 4, 5 or 6 stringer ??? Gorgeous basses. Pics when you get it Dave
Thanks Dave, I hope it will be worth the wait. Fairly standard MK1 4 stringer, going for a matching headstock just to give it a little of my own custom.
10. Nothing yet really so far, sold a couple of pedals and bought a used Zoom R16. I also have a Wal on order that might be ready 2017, got gas for things but no spare dosh as I'm still saving for the Wal. Might do trades on some of the stuff I already own.
11. I had a BB1025 before and great bass that it was in the end it was the weight that was a no deal for me. I think I'll check these out when they hit the shops, the Maple is getting my vote so far.
12. On a personal level I'm starting to wonder selfishly how this may now affect a build I am having done. This bass also needs to be shipped within the EU (at least out to me) 1 year into an almost 2 year wait for this bass. Anyone care to guess or comment? With the Fender thing I have 2 maple and 1 rosewood.
13.
Aye that's true. Many of the punk /new wave tracks are used on tv ads nowadays too. There's even one on at the moment that starts off the same as Fight Back by Discharge!
Funny you should mention Discharge, because they came to my mind first, they seemed so fast and unreal at the time, now they seem pretty tame
14. What a nightmare that must be, I feel for you. That has to be the thing we all fear when posting a bass. I'd still hold out a little ray of hope that it will turn up.. but 3 weeks is quite a while now. Hopefully you had it fully insured, it won't take away the pain but may help you in planning to find another. All the best and hope it shows up.
15.
I'm not sure they are "still relevant today"? to those that have always liked them but I doubt many young people know who they are. Awaits the "my daughter loves them!" Comments, well they will if they've been bought up on them.
My Daughter hates them and has been brought up on them (she's 21 now) I guess it's bit of that old cliche of your parents music not being cool, at least until you reach a certain age, or then again it's the shouty Joe Strummer she always complains about
16.
I saw them back then in '77. I was at college in London and they played a gig at the LSE. Strummer walked on a said something like 'all students are pigs' and spat into the audience. It all went rather wrong after that. Retrospectively I like what they did and a lot of punk but, at the time, I was firmly in the 'they can't even play their instruments' camp.
For Bands that couldn't play, they and the Pistols made pretty good 1st Albums.
17. Time moves on, great music remains. I'll give mine a play today.
18. Enjoy, I hope you don't fall into the old trap that many of us did, of lusting after one and then finding out after sometime it's not for you. Beautiful basses that can put out a wide range of sounds.
19. On the topic of Road worn I bought mine NEW last year from a local shop (got a great deal as they were finishing their Fender dealership and the bass had been knocking about the place for ages) When I checked the serial it was from 2009-2010 Not dissapointed at all.
20. Nice , cool Sunday vibe. Edit, even tho you did it on Saturday
21. I'd say it's ok. As long as it's of the current model, think they are from 2012's? and of course you like the bass.
22. Nice tune But not really what I would call disco
23.
Just got the Canon Custom 4! It sounds nothing like a J or P or MM! ... IT SOUNDS MUCH BETTER!!! WOW, WHAT A MONSTER BASS IT IS!!! IT'S A REAL HEAVY CANON!!!
Terve. Glad it's what you wanted and more.
24.
To me the Fender sounded more mushy in the ringing (or not) of the notes. The Moollon rang clearer. But then, that matters to me as I play solo. If you're playing in a band, it probably doesn't matter too much really, does it?
Yes, tho I still think you get some of that extra in the clang in the mix even with the band, if that was what you were looking for.
