1.
Mike Watt interviews Jah Wobble for the L.A. Record. http://larecord.com/...f-the-minutemen A great read from two fat-string legends.
Thanks. It's a good read.
 2. I have the SCR-DI and I'm not really a huge fan of it tbh, maybe I'm not totally sold on the ampeg tone from it. It has a few issues for me, like if you are running it off batteries (it eats them btw) once they get low it starts to only put out a feedback noise. Before this I had the Aguilar tonehammer as a Di, and looking back in hindsight I much prefered it. The Darkglass gear is normally very good, I do run the vintage microtubes by them. Haven't tried the DI but would think it's nice, nearly double the price of the SCR-DI as far as I can see. Might not help much but those are my thoughts.
 3.
Pretty sure he has one of the Master built basses as much as a standard budget model, did he play both or...?
He only used the one and it was this one, http://www.basscentre.com/british-bass-masters/bass-centre-rhythm-stick.html The standard model as far as I'm aware. (my photo of him there )
 4.
Hey guys, I've been looking at the Bass Collection basses for some years now- pretty much since they started up again from the previous Nanyo Speakeasy days, now with the Jive and Power basses from Bass Centre (I believe, who now have them produced). I've been toying with the idea of the Frankenstein bass, not only for it being an Entwhistle model but just seems a decent bass for the money (very much a Fender 50's classic) . I'd love a bass I'm not afraid of getting worn in and well played, as I'm pretty OCD about keeping my basses pristine. However, never playing one or seeing them in person, I'd really love to hear some feedback: good and bad. Ideally, from anyone with this specific model as well as the general impression of Bass Collection. My greatest fear is spending £325 on a bass that is no different to my sub £150 Westfield Pbass I started on 14 years ago. :-/ BSB
I haven't tried any, But know that Norman Watt Roy was using his signature bass collection sig when he did a gig here a while back. I t sounded great and he siad it was a nice bass. I think the bass collection basses are a lot of bass for not very much £. I'd imagine they would have a return policy as well if you weren't happy with what you have bought?
 5. I guess all the fuss and hype is in the sounds you can get out of them. Not for everyone but if you like it nothing else will do
 6.
I ordered my MK I in Feb....12 months to go.....not that I'm counting....
I'm some way down the que on you guys. Going to get even more excited when you guys (hopefully) post up pics of your new basses.
 7. Are the MK1's that fugly? Hope not I have one on order.
 8.
Another +1 for this book and playing along to records, plus endless jams with my mates
Like a lot of us here, I had that book as well. Think it took me a good few years to be able to tune up to that wonky disc. Went with a tuning key in the end and a sort of whistle thingy as well.
 9.
I want to and i want to try his Ovation too but that might be pushing it
He's a friendly guy and normally loves to talk bass, chat him up and pretend your a Spurs fan
 10.
Jah Wobble on friday at Bedford Esquires and as an added bonus we have the support slot
Awesome, love me some Wobble. Ask him if you can use his Ashdowns
 11. Saw the Cure tonight in Helsinki, opening night of the tour. Over 30 years since I saw them last and have to say for me they had lost nothing. Gallup still managed to look very cool playing his own Schecter sig bass. They played for over 3 hours which I also thought was great. 12. A Midnight blue 4001, which I eneded up getting some 30 odd years later and moved it on within a year. I got there in the end.
 13. I had some of these on a Stingray and Precision and for some reason they always made a kind of electronic buzzing sound. It was very odd! I swapped them over a few times and each time there was a buzz. There where a few others that found that as well. Not sure if it was just one batch of strings or not as I never purchased any again afterwards.
 14. Nice. I like it more than the original. Cool bass work as well.
 15. There is a lot of choice out there. I do like my P's with maple necks, depending on budget it would be one of the roadworns or spanking new American standard. I do like a vintage P as well for feel and vibe, so lots of choice, but mine would have to say Fender on the headstock
 16.
Played a small pub gig last night and thought I'd try my recent acquisition - a Mexican made Flea Signature. At the break I was thinking how nice it seemed to sound on 'stage' (I was using a Jule Monique Dove Cage and Demeter power amp through a Bergantino 2x10 so had a decent backline which would always help). The realisation then hit me that I'd never actually gigged with a Fender before! I own a 63J a pair of 68J's and a 64P and have owned several US and Japanese J's and P's. All have been played a fair bit and rehearsed with but never taken out live (well, not by me anyway). I've gigged plenty of 'Fender style' basses from Sadowsky, Alleva Coppolo, Celinder, Lull, Modulus etc. No idea why I've never grabbed one of the Fenders before, maybe just not my #1 basses at the time. Anyway, it was fun to play, no worries about batteries, stayed more or less in tune and sounded pretty good to me and to the two bassists in the audience apparently. Must do this more often
Try a P next time
 17. I have no idea Done this with a few bands and always struggle to get everyone on the same page. Ended up just playing it straight and was never really happy with it. It's a hard one to try copy if you want the laidback beat and odd timings.. well it is for me. Great tune tho.
 18. Agree on the cringeworthy, but guess I'll have to watch it. Sometimes you feel like your youth is being robbed
 19. Liking it guys. Who said we take ourselves too seriously
 20.
Mine is. I set the camera up, I set the self timer, I pushed the button and I posed.
Same here
 21.
Surely a selfie is a pic you've taken yourself?
That's what I had in mind yes. Keep em coming
 22.
Yeah, I'm game - here's an oldie. I look a bit older, a bit more stressed and way more tired..
I'm not surprised with all those strings on a bass Thanks for posting the pic.
 23. Away at Boarding School and counting myself lucky to have my own table tennis racket and cricket bat to while away the free hours. I think if I started playing at 11 (actually I was 14) I'd still be tone deaf and struggling That kid's going in the right direction tho.
