1. A few been mentioned on here already. will add Bernard Edward's Chic sound to the list, love it, but a bit too neat and tidy for what I try to play/do.
 2. Nice, congrats. Can't go wrong with a P. I surprised myself yesterday as well by making a unexpected swap on basses after spending an hour or so on the internet. (dangerous place for the weak willed)
 3.
Thank you all for your advice and kind offers. I guess trying lots of amps is the answer, although buying used as I plan to do limits opportunities for this. I was hoping for advice from other Stingray players regarding what they use, so thank you again. My band plays rock, so my tone is eq'd to cut through the sound of the two humbucker equipped guitarists without treading on each other's toes, frequency wise. I want punch and clarity and I find the inherent sound of my BG250-15 a bit droney (probably the 15" speaker is a contributory factor). Incidentally, the tone of the amp through headphones is perfect.
If it's any help I use my Stingray through (not all at the same time ) an Aguilar Th500, GB Shuttle 6, A Fender Rumble 500 combo, and speakers are GB212 Neo, and an extra 210 Rumble extension cab. Sounds nice through each.
 4. It's a tough one! I think Stingrays like a lot of gas in the tank, having a rig that you don't have to crank might be an easy answer. I use my Stingray through 500w class D into 212's, 210's or 410's and as long as the speakers are decent I haven't had any problems getting things to fall off shelves and walls
 5.
How long is the waiting list to get into the Waiting Room now? I've just pulled the trigger with Paul Everson. No promises but I'm hoping for the best Christmas present ever.
You'll be in and out by the time I get seen Congrats by the way.
 6.
Jo Burt Experience, Christchurch beginning July. I'm Playing a Mayones B4 through Markbass/Ampeg rig (for anyone who's remotely interested).
Vey nice!
 7.
tbh I've never liked the sound of the bass on the Damned albums, they seem to lack bollocks (or is that heft?) to my ears
Can't count Love Song in that hopefully, but then again that's Algy on a P or was it Lemmy!
 8.
Gareth Holder aka Brian Helicopter from the Shapes is who I think about when someone mentions the Ric Sound
Like that. How could you get that sound with a P or Jazz? I don't see it.
 9.
... and when you hear pure Ric tone, you recognise it. There's a few seconds of Ric on a Taylor Swift track - I forget which - played with a pic, both PUPs open, and it just screams "RICKENBACKER BASS' at you The only way to get that tone without a Ric is to use a synth, I've genuinely never found another bass that can do it.
Same thing with Paul Gray on bass with the Hotrods and the Damned, unmistakable Rik for me. That soft clank http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twBjYX8ni4I
 10.
Surely it's all in the fingers?!?!!
It's funny because I'am normally one to say that A lot of it is, but choice of axe will have it's own accent, guess a bit like what pre amp, box or amp you use? Maybe.
 11. Imo, only a Rik will get you there. It is a unique sound, combination of pups, neckthru and woods I had one but didn't really get on with it, like a lot of others on here have. I now use a faker that is easier for me to play lighter, cheaper, sounds a bit different (tho with the neck pickup isolated it gets close) and I just prefer it to the real thing, there you go.
 12. Nice. I actually prefer the bass part that isn't soloed and underneath.
 13.
ABBA ...or more specifically I hadn't picked up a musical instrument at this point
Or a chick Love some ABBA to.
 14. Edited, 16 was a bit later on PIL or The Ruts for me, the latter were local and luckily got to see them a few times before Malcolm sadly passed away.
 15.
Just been looking at these SIT Silencers and it seems they're actually pressure wound rather than true flats which sounds like it could be a good compromise for me. Found a YouTube video demoing the GHS pressure wounds and they sounded really nice but I've no idea how representative they'd be of pressure wounds generally. Any thoughts or input from anyone on pressure wound strings as an option?
I tried the GHS pressure wounds thinking along those same lines and found them to be in neither camp, nothing like good rounds or good flats. Didn't like. I tried them on both fretted and fretless.
 16. You may miss the clank and overtones of roundwouds if you're used to them, but on the otherhand flats will give you the warmth thump and thud of the note. That's how I hear it anyway.
 17.
Yes, especially as in last months Bass Guitar Mag Bruce was interviewed and stated he had small hands - so strange he chose the Precisions with the widest necks known to man.
He's full of punch with his action, guess he's not into a low setup either. He works it for sure
 18. Nice informative video. Handy for anyone out there looking to get one of these.
 19.
I like the look of that... just sent a mail asking what the board radius is. Though 9.3lbs may be just a little too much mass...
Sorry a bit OT. He does a few nice basses, my Renegade from him is very light I really like this also http://www.retrovibe.co.uk/vantage/wineredmet.html
 20. Retrovibe do a T-Rod if you're after a split P type. http://www.retrovibe.co.uk/t-rod/butterscotch-bass.html# Think there are a few basschatters with them?
 21.
No it's a late 90's early 2000's one
Very nice still, and I'd be gassing hard if I didn't already own a Pre-EB.
 22. Hobbiest, tho we do some professional gigs, usually as a support. Regular paid gigs about once a month as well. I spend far more on my gear rehearsing and recording etc than I earn from the gigs
 23.
looking forward to getting this bad boy !
Congrats. One of these is on my lust list.
