I have more expensive gear sitting around that I don't use.

Sort of.. I was for a long time chasing an ultra low reggae type tone and then later something ultra clean and quite bright that sounded great solo'd but not always that good in the mix. Then I started using a bit more drive firstly with Catlinbread SVT and now with the Darkglass VMT.. just a little break up and more harmonics cut nicely in our 3 piece. A little goes a long way

[/quote] I think that's exactly the kind of response they were looking for.... even nearly 40 years later. Maybe the social movement (sub culture) the Pistols had with a lot of the youth might be lost on you, they were certainly a voice for the young workingclass at the time. Zeppelin may or may not of connected like that in the late 60's early 70's I don't know about that I'm too young and wasn't there . But I was for the Pistols. The pistols may not of been great musicians but I'd say Lydon's lyrical content is a masterpiece of the times.. not sure Dylan could even get close! Like most things in life you either get it or don't. They changed the whole live music scean in London almost over night.. Maybe form the UK the Beatles were the last group before them to have had that kind of impact. Maybe I'm talking B#llocks, but that's how I (see) saw it.

I think that may of been part of the reason for them getting rid of Glen, too tight, good and musical lol. Listening back now (after many years) to some of the pistols (old) live performances I'm almost amazed that I didn't notice how much Rottens vocals hold everything together, like it or not he never seemed to forget the lyrics and always gave 100% on delivery. He had pride in what he was doing, could still show a few so called musos's up nowadays.

Lol, it's always the same when these McCartney threads pop-up. Not sure it's a matter of liking or not, You should be mature enough to give talent, credit where it's due, despite of it's genre, you don't have to like it to appreciate what's going on. Personally I never really thought much of him as a bass player because he wasn't out there sticking it in your face.. Many years later I decided to try and work through some of it and gave it a better listen in context of the songs and couldn't help but be blown away I like Skanks Macca more above ...

As has been said, they are all different. Everyone I have tried has felt or sounded sligtly different Neck shape/size, body weight, mojo no mojo etc You'll know when you get a good one, it just feels amd sounds right.

I have the 12" single of Rock the Casbah signed by the Clash, including Topper. and a test pressing of Sandinista. A Telecaster with Wilko's signature on it.. A few original gig photo's I took back in the day as well.
