1.
Great minds think alike.......;-)
Hope I'm not de-railing this thread or annoying the OP. Thought I'd stick up a picture of my old Wal, slightly different config. When I bought someone had already stuck another PU on it. One I wish I'd never sold.
2.
I had the Ampeg SCR-DI on top of the list and also tye Aguilar Tone Hammer. But yes the EBS would be a great additiion as well! I'll see if I can get one at some point
I have (had) both of those and both do a great job, to my ear. Nice to hear some of the others as well.
3. Hi bigd1. I have the same kind of problem in a 3 piece. I have been experimenting with a bit of drive and distortion, not sure yet. Used at the right times it does seem to help a bit. (lack of skill on my part most likely) One thing I have learned is sometimes less is more Letting notes ring sometimes give it a lot more fill than going crazy with 16th's. Good fun having so much space to use .. but as you pointed out sometimes it's hard to keep the drive going. Please keep me updated.
4. Anyone know what real-life pedal this might be based on? Just gave it a try and love it
5. I might be wrong but I think the combo's are the way to go with this line. I use the 500 combo with the 210 extension and it's plenty loud enough for anything I'll ever need. They seem to of voiced these combo's really nicely, I like to sligtly drive the gain and get some nice breakup (just like the big Ampeg rigs)
6. Awesome. The Bizz. Enjoy. Don't want to see a post about downsizing your rig anytime in the future.
7.
Oh - and have you ever thought about renting that space out between the p'up and neck for advertising! Seriously though - I will admit it is looking fine. But no more than that!
Please PM me if you ever think of selling that
8. Hehe and I thought there were some Fender bashers Loved me old Wal
9.
They definitely exist and crop up on eBay occasionally, usually they're 3TS with rosewood board, but occasionally ash body with maple board.
Yes, mine is the 3TS with Rosewood. I did a pup swap for USA's that's all I've done to mine. Haven't seen that many advertised, not sure if these were import only? .. or maybe that was the maple boarded ash that Walbassist mentioned.
10.
No basses don't all sound the same, but within the context of the band sound they can all be made to sit properly in the mix with a few tweaks in the signal chain.
That is more plausible.
11.
You know, that's kind of what I was thinking when I read through this thread, a bass is a bass with your eyes closed they all sound the same .
I'm afraid I can't agree with that.
12. Normally one of the P's But the one with flats or rounds is the hard part.
13. like the advertising slogan " "Eight10 - needed by no-one*, wanted by everyone!"
14. I did for a long while always use an EBS Comp on my pedal board to deal with the same problem you are having. I thought I had some success and didn't lose anything using very mild compression. I have just recently gone back to only using a tuner and phaser and done away with the compressor, it only comes out now for recording. They are a nice compressor easy to setup and not too expensive

Ampeg SCR-DI
Just a minor concern...those chickenhead knobs look very easy to knock. How stiff are the pots ? (Fnaar, etc)
Hasn't bothered me so far. I do have to check the settings each time I set up tho.

Ampeg SCR-DI

After using mine for a bit now, I can say it doesn't need to go in front of my Rumble set-up (that sounds great as is) but I have used it in-front of other heads (backline) and for recording and it's been very handy. On the downside the batteries go very quickly and have noticed it's a lot quieter on a 12v power supply to a 9v. Even tho it says it can run both. Liking it a lot.
17. Nice one, enjoyed that and I'll be getting the album.
18. I have posted many times about it, I have a 500 V3 that has been going strong and sounding great, I've had it since they came out, over a year now I guess. It gets used 4-5 hours each week at practice and done about 20 gigs and been trouble free so far..
19. Enjoy. and hope your other half understands that you need to play it routinley every half hour or so!
20.
I can't stand him , or the Beatles!
I think we have been here before.
21. We had a good night supporting Nine Below Zero. Nice Guys and even took the time to watch some of our set. It was a very historic venue here in Turku, that saw the likes of the New York Dolls and most touring acts of the 70 and 80's stopping off to do shows there.
