1.
I found that about 70s Fender finishes. 505 code for Olympic White I hope it helps here the forum : http://forums.fender...pic.php?t=40098 It is the Great Norman Watt-Roys playing this yellowed Olympic White 70s Precision Bass. Splendid pict and musician
Just one more pic of it under different lighting. I think I may have been wrong with the colour being a custom order and that the A necks were a custom order at the time?

Mine's just arrived, short play at home with it and first impression is pretty good! Solid and built to last like the TH I swapped out for this, Practice tomorrow and I might try it in front of the Rumble, gig on Friday where I might not need it as the backline is supplied and it's the fridge 810 Have some recording that needs doing next week so definitely be trying it out. Fun and games and new toys
3. "Was white (Olympic or otherwise) a standard finish on Precisions during the 70s, and particularly combined with the 'TV logo'?" My understanding was that it was a custom colour in the early 70's, and could also be ordered with an A neck, as mine above.
4. I'm sure there are a few about, I have a 1970 like so as well..¨in the hands here of a certain fella.
5.
One of the venues I play in has the 100 watt one as backline. It was pretty good. I really loved the fact I could pick it up with my pinky. I thought about buying one of the 500 watters but don't like the stories of unreliability.
The shop where I bought mine gave me an instore 3 year´warranty for it.. Had it 18 months or so now and it's been fine. A hassle of course if it goes tits -up .. but touch wood so far..
6. Normally a P-bass, but sometimes Jazz or Ray.
7.
Bought a Rumble 500 from GAK the other day (foot switch thrown in with it). Thought I'd do a bedroom tryout. It lasted less than 5 minutes before it stopped working. Straight back to GAK for a refund (which they did straight away, so top marks to them). That's it as far as Fender Rumbles are concerned. In over 30 years of playing guitar and bass I've never, ever had an amp fail on me (even after being thrown into backs of cars, roof boxes etc etc) so to have one fail at bedroom volume in less than 5 minutes is unacceptable.
I's sorry to hear that. They are great when they work!
8. Congrats and sounds like it's gone to the right home.
Well I now have mine, and can cheerfully confirm it is a very nice pedal. Gets that classic SVT-type grind that I like. Having only had it a couple of days I found my sound and left it at that as was gigging with it tonight. Had an audience member state he loved my bass sound - it was DI`d FOH from the SCR-DI, so pretty pleased about that. I`ll tinker around and find other sounds just for my own amusement at home as well though. One part I really like is the blend option for the Scrambler. You can get some very nice distorted sounds with this, trial and error of course, but for anyone liking gain/breakup I reckon they`d be pretty happy with this pedal just for that alone, though maybe fairly expensive for just an OD. Lastly, as I`ve read a few reviews that state it squeals on the DI if the batteries are low I`ve at long last taken to using a PSU. About time too, should save a bit on batteries.
Thanks Lozz, that's what I was hoping to hear. I just flogged off my old Catlinbread SFT, so was thinking I can use this to replace it and also use it for recording at home etc.
10. I'll also add that I think these are great, that's a good price for a very decent instrument. (I'd have it if I didn't have one already)
11. Most of my own stuff as I nearly always find something to add or take away.
12. Congrats.. Pictures of it when it arrives please.
13. For me vintage vs hi-fi is either having the tweeter/horn on or off hi-fi to me is also a scooped sound with a bit of bite.. I always think Marcus Miller.
14. Sounds stupid but I had that head for about 8 years and could never stop fiddling with it trying to get a sound I liked... horses for courses I guess.
15.
Like that Don, and think the concept of the vid with the retro couple dancing is great.
Thanks Lozz.
16. We just started a trio from what was left of the old band.. First new composition (demo)
Well I now have one ordered. Will update once arrived and played, both home and band use.
Makes 2 of us now Lozz, just unloaded my Tonehammer pedal and going to try one of these for a change.
19. Strummer used to do a bit live on Guns of Brixton.. He certainly gave it some so guess he loved it.
20. Happy Birthday and Kudos to Bruce.. still trying to get as much melody and power into my bass playing as he managed nearly 40 years ago
21. Different thing but remember seeing Brilliant play with 2 bass players, Our mate Guy Pratt was involved at one point as well.
22.
Who's Paul Turner?
Not sure if you are teasing Lord Sausage? He's done a whole load of different stuff.. maybe you know this? http://www.dailymoti...-abbey-ro_music
23. Cool. He seems like he's a really nice guy as well from what I have seen and heard. That just makes it better when they are nice people as well.
