1. Nice bass. You really need to own one at some point to be able to get over Ric GAS
2. Look forward to hearing it. All those basses and it could of all been done with just a P
3.
I'm not so sure Lozz, but then I don't have a back problem (yet). Good luck.
I'm of the same feeling, I wouldn't part with any of my older P's. Mind you my 70 and 73 both weigh under 4kgs.
4. I'm not sure how relevant this might be to you, but in near on 40 years of me playing bass other than breaking a string I have never had to revert to my back-up! Maybe I have just been lucky? I'd keep both P's Lozz and not worry about trying to match the sounds too much, the chances of it being that critical are rather minimal imo.
5. Yes, anything by this lot. My Daughter was into them big time when she was 14-15.. luckily for me she is over it now. I'd start to get aggressive and angry when I heard him start to scream or shout
6. I have gone off flats a bit recently but still have a couple of basses strung with them. Roto tru bass I have strung on my fretless P, fairly low tension but pretty stiff (if that makes sense). I have gone back to the old La Bella's after using Fender flats for a while and I would now say they give me the best all round feel and sound. I do tend to change my mind every few months though
7. Great that you guys are doing something a little different. Sounds sweet, good luck.
8. Nice one. I have a single coil Frailin in my 51 RI and it's by far the most sensitive pickups I have, It's fairly hot and seems to react a lot to the volume and tone blending. Not sure how the split P's are. Looks like a nice bass.
9.
I really like that. Good job.
Me too. and the tapped note was sweet. I did wonder a few months back when you said you had problems in the band and that they were thinking of outing you, how they would ever find a decent replacement.
10. I know what you mean Lozz, some of those 70's pups just have that sparkle. I haven't tried a lot of aftermarket Precision pickups but the SD anitquity II's I had were nice but a bit more old school and 60's sounding to my ear. Before I got my 70's pups rewired and working again I was thinking of asking Mark at Limelight if they'd flog me a pair. Let us know how you get on.
11. I love playing along to the old Police tunes. I had the guys mess about at practice trying a few Police tunes a couple of times, unfortunately our drummer wasn't really up to the task I love the mix of whitman reggae-rock that they had. Sting had/has great timing in his playing and had the skill and ear to never overplay his lines and the chops to do each song justice. I read somewhere that during recording at one point he would often track his upright with his electric.
12. Loverly bass, hang on to the bloody thing this time
13.
Were you in SGC then Don?
I wasn't Lozz, but did a lot of roading/humping for a lot of bands back then. I was still playing bass tho.
14. I thought this was going to be our own tales! Going on tour with the Subs and the Death Cult back in the day there were a lot of shenanigans going on. A lot of it was pretty vulgar and illegal. Love the old school tour contracts as well
15. Nice one Lozz. Look forward to a review. If I'm ever after a new micro, I'd definitely be looking at these.

SOLD

Have a bump, nice bass. Is the nut original?
17. Might be good advice, I prefer letting it rip playing live. (depends on music type, where and situation of course)
18.
Cool to watch the strings oscillate (if indeed that is the correct term)
Thank you, oscillating, why couldn't I remember that. It does look cool, far better than my playing lol.
19. OK, I know I can't play the bloody thing! But thought I'd share the effect the camera gave to the strings vibrating. http://www.youtube....h?v=x7JCZTuw9Bs
20.
personally, extra volume is not the only reason I've tended to use an extension cab, (with my Marshall MB4210) it also looks better having a bit of a stack (more rock and roll ) and also it takes the amp up to ear height which means you can hear it more clearly
I'd agree with that and you also get a little more feel with more air being pushed. I don't think it makes me want to play any louder, just gives me headroom and feel.
21.
Will report back on it. Was very tempted by the 115 but alot of the reviews on 115 I could find were back before the 210 was released - so thought I'd take a punt.
Don't think you'll be disappointed it gives you more of what the 500 combo gives you
22.
I used the same bass for 34 years perfectly happily, then I discovered BassChat five years ago... and the madness began. I'm seriously considering going back to one bass and what's more, that same one bass...
BassChat has a lot to answer for Start a new trend for just having one bass wish I could join you in that but love the vibe I get off all my different basses.
23.
After years of bass shenanigans, I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that I actually need only one bass. The others are superfluous and represent the effects of consumer capitalism. Comrade. Thpp!
You could be right! I'd find it pretty hard to settle on just one now. Years ago I had no problem. I guess I got caught up in all that capitalism in the end
24. Thanks, that's good to know. I should really get some made up!
25. Love it! Must of missed this thread first time round. A few dings on her and it'll start looking even nicer.
