1. For anybody following this I'd say the 500 combo is more than enough as a stand alone for most gigs, it gives a lot of punch and definition from the 2x10's.. I wasn't left wanting for a rounder or fuller sound. Only had to crank it to 3pm to keep up with 2 guitars and a drummer. I'd put the sound way above any of the budget amps I've tried before. It has a bit of an old school tone to cabinet with the horn off.. I like it a lot. I'll be using it when I can't be arsed to cart the Aggie 12's and Tone hammer around
2. I saw a pic of Wilko today on F-book post surgery looking pretty health
3. I have just been using mine mainly set flat the Gain at 12'o clock as well, a lot of punch and pretty deep sounding, then to taste with the tone control on the bass. That's at home tho, have a practice today and will take it along. Not sure how sensitive the gain knob is, when I go from passive to active basses there is not a lot of boost or drop-off in volume. Missing a mute switch atm, no deal killer but it would of been nice.
4. The bass was what made that song for me. Like most of the 42's stuff.
5.
Granted, he was always seen with an acoustic guitar strung over his shoulder. However, I dont actually remember ever hearing him play it.
There is a bit on his 68 come back show.. lots more I'm sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVaBVZaS7So
6.
Does anyone know if he could actually play ?
Well he played guitar, so guess the basics of playing bass he could manage. He always had good taste in the bass players he used so guess it's importance wasn't lost on him.
7. I grabbed the 500 version today, had a gift card for the store so didn't have to add much from my own pocket It's pretty light and an easy one handed lift. Got a small gig /party next Friday I'll take it along and see if it copes, there is always the ext out but that defeats the idea of having a combo lol.
8. That is nice. Been waiting for my local store to get the new Rumble stuff into stock, was wondering if I should get the head... but looking at your pic I'm now gassing for a smallish combo I can cart around.
9. Sting maybe, tho the others could play a fair bit also
10. The one on the left is a Jap reissue 90's I think, Then a 1970 USA a 73 USA, and a Jap early 2000 fretless.
11. I normally get 45 mins or so vid at 720/30 fps with a decent set of batteries. Mine seems to buffer to about 4GB and then turn off. I have an 8GB card so it's not that.
12.
Busted
lol. That's a classic
13.
That really is a lesson on how to make me green with envy Don. Fantastic collection there.
Thanks Lozz. I really don't need them all, I just can't help myself. They all sound a little different and give off different vibes when I pick them up.. must be an illness.
14. My herd or gaggle of P's Got them all together in the sunshine. ]
15.
That looks lovely, is it an early '70's bass ?
Hi Chris thanks. It's mainly a 73 as far as I know.
16.
Macka B's new video, Medical Marajuana Card, is great, guaranteed to put a smile on your face. We'll be playing at the same festival as him in August, I can't wait to check him out:
Thanks, I enjoyed that
17. Wow! They just keep coming
18.
My favourite year for Precisions. I've done the pre-CBS thing but find the basses from '66 to '73 the best players. Still light (for the most part), B profile necks, tort plates - what's not to like? I would look for an early 70's bass and you'll find it pretty much the same as that '66 and much cheaper.
I'd agree on that as well from my limited experience. Edit to say, especially if your after a player you can gig with and not a museum piece.
19. Bought a 73 P off Si. Communication throughout was great, Fast postage overseas, packaged and protected well couldn't ask for anymore. A delight to deal with as his previous feedback suggests. Oh and I'm, very happy with the bass
20. Thanks Guys. I have a 70 as well but that's an A neck and rosewood, one with flats the other with rounds was my thinking.
21. My new, mainly original 73 P. Always wanted a Sunburst and maple. Nice lightweight and lots of growl. Thanks to our very own Si for the sale ]
22. Yes, that is something special
23. Think you might be right Paul with that part starting on the B ... funny I have been playing it wrong all these years .. you can teach an old dog new tricks
24. yes i used to watch him as well thrashing it down around his knees..Good days indeed
