1. For me it's a mixture of both.. just playing with other musicians is nice as well, rehearsal or just get together. I do like the gigs and look forward to them. Once a month suits me fine, Summer time were usually at it everyweek , it's hard balancing work, family duties and the late nights that usually go with giging. When I roll into bed at 4am I sometimes ask myself if it was worth it.. normally the answer is yes. (not always lol)
2. Crickey, that's gorgeous. Going to make someone really happy that.
3. He is great isn't he ,, He flogged his old Fender shoreline gold jazz and now uses his signature bass centre copy, http://www.basscentr...khead-bass.html, they do a rhythmstick stick version as well, which I have also seen him use, which is a copy of his 71 Fender P with the extra jazz pickup.. His tribute to Jaco at the time I think.
4. Where do you keep getting these from? Still enjoying the last Ray I got from you btw.
5.
Can you tell me why not ?
For me they were neither like rounds or flats and something in-between and also slightly higher tension than I like... they didn't do the rounds thing well or flats thing. Tried them on a fretted then fretless and they just didn't work for me.
6. I tried the GHS Brite flats in long scale, wasn't really that impressed tbh.
7.
Scott Devine's Precision IS an artificially relic'ed bass
Scott gives it more bass-face with the P than the Jazz lol
8.
Nice on Don, keep us posted with your findings, have been looking at these myself, always liked Fender bass amps - aside from the weight/size. These look good on the clips, very interested on a real-user verdict though.
I'll be able to compare it directly to my Shuttle and Tonehammer
9. I've ordered the 500 head, to use as a possible back-up.. should have it sometime next week hopefully
10.
http://www.gear4musi...HD-Recorder/L8G
Maybe that AC converts to the USB port then.
11. Mine has no AC power connector socket, maybe it runs off USB power, never tried that. Mine might be an older version. Edit for a vid.. this is the one I have no external power as you can see, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OF_KhaQeZmo
12.
Specs look good...anyone tried it? Might be a useful tool to have with decent HD type visual...?
I've had one for over a year now, very handy and still use it a lot.. The downside for me after using it for a while are that there is no line -in, only runs on batteries, which will last you about 2 hours on full HD settings. Hard to see the back of the screen for levels or framing when you have it in a corner or pushed up against a wall for example. I'd highly recommend getting a little tripod or table stand to use with it. I have been very happy with mine, it's good but not perfect.
13. Nothing wrong with a root Get some of the old 12 bar going or some blues scales, they nearly always help me out and get me going. Someone like Simo from the Clash was very reggae influenced and transferred the groove to Rock.
14. Not bad for some old farts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwLeTPVuD3c
15. Cool stuff. Only have a couple of things. I have a Rock the Casbah 12" signed by the Clash. Joe, Paul, Míck and Topper This year I got Wilko to sign the back of a telecaster.
16. I not long ago let my Midnight blue go.. best colour rick for me too. Enjoy.
17. Sounds good to me. I'm in about the same boat with my Blues band. Only started playing Blues about a year ago. Getting a lot if inspiration from seeing Norman Watt-Roy and Wilko the other month. I'm trying to up my work rate a bit on some songs, with a few more passing notes and melodies.. It's also what you leave out that gives a great feel.
18.
Another GS112. Then you'll sound even better.
Yes, big difference 2 of those compared to 1. You can get away with using 1, but you won't believe the difference till you hear it for yourself.
19.
Great 'tache to accompany the bass face from the Hives there too. A moustache most definitely adds some brown to your tone.
lol, that's what I must be missing "brown to my tone"
20.
He's firing on all cylinders here
Yes, that one will do it Edit to say.. When I first got my Ric, that was the first song I played along to. Now Ric gas free.
21. Bit different, but this is one I think of as pure Ric. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d66rCCoAJB0
22.
For the car it will be fine. However I wouldn't trust it to sufficiently protect the bass in the back of a van unless you've got somewhere to put it out of the way of the amps, speakers, drums and any other heavy band gear. That's why I'm getting the hard case.
I'll remember that if I have to stack it somewhere. On the other hand I think that Rockcase could survive the apocalypse, you'll be safe. I had a similar flightcase for my old Streamer but that was tiny in comparison.
