1.
What this proves is that a Neox 212 performs better than two CL112s. Nothing to do with 2x12" vs 1x12", everything to do with the Neox 12" vs the CL 12" - and their relative prices imply that the CL112 has to contain a much less expensive 12".
Thanks for the clarification Alex. I've now sourced locally a pair of Aguilar GS112's , so I can test that theory.
2.
I'm not sure what the exact models were but same room, same head, same bass and the difference was massive, it still remains the highest I have needed to put the output on my shuttle six and it was a tiny room. I thought maybe a 2x12 might be better than two 1x12s but the experts here say not.
I think I know what your talking about Pete. Normally with one of the Bands I play with I use 2 EBS CL 112's for practice and gigs and a Aguilar TH500, today I took along my GB212 neo xt as we have an outdoor gig on Sunday and thought I could do with the extra umph as most of our smaller gigs guitars and bass are never FOH .. anyway at practice same room, same volume the drummer turned to me after 2 songs and said ahh so that's what your you playing He could hear and feel it, seems the porting and and 2-12's stuck in the same box do have some magic.. or so it would seem.
3. Nice. I have been using something a little Swedish along similar lines https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/90499974/Ebs.jpg
4. I'd post a of video of me playing root's and 5ths with the band (actual I have done that lol) .. but that's not much of a party piece. The Guys got talent a good ear and plays very cleanly, but I would only want to listen to it once.. Cool and interesting the first time you listen.
5. Must say all the basses (4 of them) and other stuff I have bought off here and had shipped to Finland have all been packed perfectly by the sellers.. The people I have dealt with seem to go the extra to make sure it arrives safe and sound. Good on Basschat.
6. I tried some and put them on my Stingray, thought they sounded ok lots of zing, but as Dingus said, I found the tension a little high and took them off after about a week. Remember reading some threads on Talkbass about them eating frets, not sure how true that is! I tried and didn't really like.
7. Nice one. Look forward to a review of them once you've had time to test them. Given me severe GAS for some new cabs now lol. This forum has cost me a fortune lol.
8. lol, thanks for the laugh.
9. Guess it depends what you term Punk? The Ramones, Clash, Ruts to name a few had some decent basslines
10. Like it.. The Cramps meets King Kurt Always fun at their gigs to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wt4Zhdoj65o
11. Two projects atm, http://www.pahakuu.fi which is an originals band that sing in Finnish. Then, https://www.facebook.com/TheOriginalHardway which is a Blues type band that does about 50-50 covers and our own material. It's still good to be out there doing something even if there is no pot of gold over the rainbow
12.
Looks like I'll join next pay day (end of july). I assume the dd will be taken the exact day you join ?
I got a 30 day free trial first.. that's what I'm on now.
13. Thanks for the tip.. I just signed up as well now.. €9 for the Premium service seems like a good deal, don't know why I didn't do it sooner!
14. Nice bass, enjoy. I had the same model in red in the early 80's.. nowhere near as nice looking as yours tho. Edit; Just took a photo of the only picture I have of my old Wal.. not great quality but there it is/was Wal Bass
15. Hope he gets well soon. I remember he used to always be hanging around the Clarendon bar in Hammersmith in the early 80's and I always found it strange that Kim Wilde used to knock about with him there. Seemed like cheese and chalk lol. He was more a regular at that time than we were. and he always had time for anyone that wanted to talk to him.. Tho we thought we were too cool to actual bother him lol.
16. I had one just like that.. and still kind of sad I let it go. Must get me a Ray again someday! Good luck with the sale.
17. Beautiful looking bass.. He's only minding it!
18.
He was talking on the radio the other day and said he was all clear?
Lets hope so then.. the interview I read was from earlier this year.
19. Not sure if it's been mentioned on here but, I just read in an interview that Nile has got aggressive prostate cancer and is counting his days. We should really enjoy him while he's still here.
20. I didn't watch it all cause they tend to bore me a tad after a few songs. The bass did sound sweet in the parts I watched.
21. Mixed feeling for me on this! Will it cause more confusion.
22. Not sure if I'd really call it a hit no 30 in the UK charts, UK Subs- Warhead
23.
I have to say I'm turning the corner with my Rick. I was having real trouble with it. I just thought I love the look of it but I'm never going to be able to play it. However, changing to a heavier gauge strings has really made a difference. After years of playing and loving Musicman basses the Rick is a challenge but I now really enjoy it and I'm getting the tone I'm after. Unique and idiosyncratic instruments in my opinion but I reckon if you don't start off on one they throw you a bit or maybe I'm just sh*t
It's strange I don't remember having any trouble at all switching to my first Ric last year, and not at all once I'd worked out what gauge strings I wanted on it and a quick once over making sure the neck was straight from my luthier. I always thought I was sensitive with basses but nowadays I have no problem going from a Jazz to a Ric to a 51P.. I think it's mostly in the set-up and feeling comfortable on each.
24.
Because they're not Fenders.
Lol, I like my Fenders And Rics
