1. Nice one. Look forward to a review of them once you've had time to test them. Given me severe GAS for some new cabs now lol. This forum has cost me a fortune lol.
2. Guess it depends what you term Punk? The Ramones, Clash, Ruts to name a few had some decent basslines
3. Like it.. The Cramps meets King Kurt Always fun at their gigs to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wt4Zhdoj65o
4. Two projects atm, http://www.pahakuu.fi which is an originals band that sing in Finnish. Then, https://www.facebook.com/TheOriginalHardway which is a Blues type band that does about 50-50 covers and our own material. It's still good to be out there doing something even if there is no pot of gold over the rainbow
5.
Looks like I'll join next pay day (end of july). I assume the dd will be taken the exact day you join ?
I got a 30 day free trial first.. that's what I'm on now.
6. Thanks for the tip.. I just signed up as well now.. €9 for the Premium service seems like a good deal, don't know why I didn't do it sooner!
7. Nice bass, enjoy. I had the same model in red in the early 80's.. nowhere near as nice looking as yours tho. Edit; Just took a photo of the only picture I have of my old Wal.. not great quality but there it is/was Wal Bass
8. Hope he gets well soon. I remember he used to always be hanging around the Clarendon bar in Hammersmith in the early 80's and I always found it strange that Kim Wilde used to knock about with him there. Seemed like cheese and chalk lol. He was more a regular at that time than we were. and he always had time for anyone that wanted to talk to him.. Tho we thought we were too cool to actual bother him lol.
9. I had one just like that.. and still kind of sad I let it go. Must get me a Ray again someday! Good luck with the sale.
10. Beautiful looking bass.. He's only minding it!
11.
He was talking on the radio the other day and said he was all clear?
Lets hope so then.. the interview I read was from earlier this year.
12. Not sure if it's been mentioned on here but, I just read in an interview that Nile has got aggressive prostate cancer and is counting his days. We should really enjoy him while he's still here.
13. I didn't watch it all cause they tend to bore me a tad after a few songs. The bass did sound sweet in the parts I watched.
14. Not sure if I'd really call it a hit no 30 in the UK charts, UK Subs- Warhead
15.
I have to say I'm turning the corner with my Rick. I was having real trouble with it. I just thought I love the look of it but I'm never going to be able to play it. However, changing to a heavier gauge strings has really made a difference. After years of playing and loving Musicman basses the Rick is a challenge but I now really enjoy it and I'm getting the tone I'm after. Unique and idiosyncratic instruments in my opinion but I reckon if you don't start off on one they throw you a bit or maybe I'm just sh*t
It's strange I don't remember having any trouble at all switching to my first Ric last year, and not at all once I'd worked out what gauge strings I wanted on it and a quick once over making sure the neck was straight from my luthier. I always thought I was sensitive with basses but nowadays I have no problem going from a Jazz to a Ric to a 51P.. I think it's mostly in the set-up and feeling comfortable on each.
16.
Because they're not Fenders.
Lol, I like my Fenders And Rics
17. I'd say you'd get one off here for a fair bit less..
18. They certainly did get it right. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery Recorded or live they just sound the bizz. You can keep all your tapping and 8 string stuff..
19. Looks a nice cab I guess those are the newer made in the USA type? I'm all over 12's in a 2x12 and I also have 2 single 12's. A 112 will do me for almost any bar/cafe gig and the 2x12 does me for anything larger or outdoors.
20.
I wonder how much some of Jaco's original basses are worth...found this but can't figure out if Jaco actually owned it. http://www.liveaucti...om/item/6336208 I read that Jon Bon Jovi or someone like him owned the original 'Bass of Doom'.... wonder what that's worth? I know Norman Roy Watts 'Rhythm Stick' J. bass was on sale for around £9,000.
No idea. I think it was Norms shoreline gold Jazz that was on sale not the P with the Jazz pick-up that is the Rhythm stick. (you can see it in here) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bb5KHXW48uI
21. We were booked to play in a small pub over the Midsummer weekend (not good as most folks usually try to get out of town!) No surprise the venue was fairly empty and we were booked to play 4 sets! On the plus side it was a good practice session, a few people got up to dance and seemed to like us. Lesson learned we have to start to be a bit more selective over our choice of venues!
