[/quote] I never had that problem with them in the 45-100 guage. Found them a little lower tension than the La Bella 760 FL's ..That I had been using. The Ti's I get on with when I play on my own, but once I'm fired up and playing with the band and I start to dig in the Ti's are way too floopy and farty for me. Wish they made a slightly higher tension set! I'll be getting some more Fender 9050L that's for sure.

[/quote] Here here to that, Love the newish flats they are putting out and they seem a steal at the price! I have 4 Fenders in different flavours 2 Jap and 2 Usa. they all needed a setup and a bit of tweaking to get right but once right they are as good as it gets in my book.

Not sure about the Jazz's but.. I just recently had a standard-wind Fralin singlecoil put into my 51 P bass At first I wondered what was going on, playing with the band I had to roll the volume and tone knobs right back on the bass, where with the stock pickup I had both wide open (that's me and P-basses) to achieve roughly the same clarity and bottom end. The Fralin's seem to have a lot more response and are even sounding over the strings and a little smoother with the highs, even tho there are a lot more brittle highs on tap. (almost too much) That's how I have found it on a singlecoil P-bass.

I picked one up on here not long ago for a little over £400 had no case it also had a few knocks and bruises. I just stuck a Lindy Fralin singlcoil in there and can't be any happier with the sound. Can't see me ever wanting to shift it.

Think this kind of thing came up before? Composing I can sometimes hear in my head what I want to play, but can't always get it I think most of us that have played a few years (and those fortunate people that have a good ear from the start) can hear and visualise what notes are being played in a lot of Pop/ popular music. I could be wrong... Edit: Yes your definitely a nut case.

For anyone who's following this, the singlecoil Fralin is now installed and I'm very happy with the balance and tone I'm now getting out of the 51. Strung with TI flats it's a killer tone that's put my other splitcoil P-basses in the shade for now. The tone knob really does a LOT with the singlecoils.. never noticed it so much on my Jazz bass.

I recently converted all our charts to pdf and use them on the iPad.. I bought an ipad stand as well, pretty safe and sturdy and not too bulky to have to move from place to place.

Thanks Lozz. I have a Lindy Fralin on the way. Lets see! I found the sound from the stock to be a little thin whilst listening back to our rehearsal session this week. Sounded great soloed. Money to burn I guess.. it was buy another jumper or get a new pickup

I'm not sure I want to go the single splitcoil route tbh. I really like the sound of the single and don't want to stray too far from what makes it sound different from a modern splitcoil P pickup. Just want to try and lose some of the uneveness the stock pup seems to be giving me, if thats possible. I have had no real issues with hum or unwanted noise so far
