1.
As the tax-man is helping out Don, go for it.
Thinking about it seriously now and should really thin the herd so, the EBMM Stingray 4 has gone up for sale to help fund it.
2.
Its my 2002 model, one owner ( me ) I bought it new and it sat in its case for 8 yrs only being played for about 4 hours in total. Late last year I spent a while setting it up, replaced the Truss Rods, Impregnated the neck laminates with glue and set the neck straight and it plays so so easily ! I wasn't happy with round wounds so put the TI's on and it came to life. ( sounds magical through my Walkabout ) and the Guitarist in my band constantly comments on how good it sounds.
Thanks. That was going to be another question, are they really that bad to start out? I have the dilemma of whether to buy a new 2012 model or get something second-hand with the vintage switch say something from 2006 or so onwards, any-tips on years etc?.. nowhere round here to try one, so I'd have to be buying blind Mind you I have picked up 3 basses from Basschat and all have been good.
3.
Just looking at your avatar, maybe this will help.. http://parliamentfun...-bassist-p-funk
Lol, I kind of guessed where this thread might be going. Thanks Roland.
4.

Nooooooo! that's lovely, is it yours? tell me more
5. Please help me with my Rickenbacker 4003 gas, tell me how ugly they are and how crap they sound, the bad QC and tail-lift what horrible management they have and anything else that might put me off Getting close to Christmas and I'm due some tax refund, trying to shake the need for one of these in a midnight blue
6. With rounds, I'm still searching.. been through a lot in my 30 odd years of playing. Next on the list of rounds to try is the GHS pressure wounds... the story goes on Flats it's pretty easy LaBella's and the TI's work for me on all my bass's.
7.
I'm sure a lot of people would cherish the opportunity to live with and gig a cheaper Ric for a time to see if it was worth forking out for the real deal for their own needs.
Add me to that list..serious Rick gas for me atm! (help) but Is getting a cheaper immation really worth it? A mate of mine had a 4003 but that was a lefty version and he used very light guage strings, I never got a proper feel having to flip it with the strings upside down.
8. Awesome track and video. Lets hope you get the airtime you deserve.
9. Thanks Guys appreciate the feedback, I'll mention trying to find a few more bpm for it. I'd say it's one of our stranger sounding songs, hard to really know what type of music it is! (other than crap) lol.
10. I might regret posting this, as it shows I'm not the greatest bass player out there! but, I set up a static video camera during our rehearsals this week. Thought I might share just one song we did, warts/mistakes and all It's nothing special but our own composition and yes I should ask the drummer to move the cymbal next time. lol. I expect you all to be fluent in Finnish and understand the lyrics ps. please be kind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UhBKGO9rf0
11. Nice one. Nothing wrong with the CIJ's, a pup swap and some decent pots on the cheaper models and your away.
12. I kind of like that.. Just the one knob! and I don't mean Chris. Seems like a nice guy, but his playing sounded awful on that clip lol.
13. My theory is live for now Lozz and enjoy as much as you can. You never really know what's round the corner. They say one good bass is all you need, so if you can't afford to keep both, maybe hang onto one especially if they really feel right for you. You can always buy and sell again, so it's not as final as it might seem, it's what makes you happy that counts in my book Too early for one of these kinds of posts lol.
14. Do those of you guys that rotate a few different types of basses, have the same problem as me in that each time I take a different bass to a gig/rehearsal I always think the one I use that week sounds best? Could be the P, J or Ray. spoilt for choice maybe Sad to say I think I'd be one of those knobs swapping basses every song if I had my way lol. Just wondered that's all...
15. When things seem too good to be true.. springs to mind. It's a nice looking bass, but he's made you overpay and misled you.. what a fooker!
16. Sly and the Family Stone, for old school funk, rock, groove.
17. Nice track, I like it. I'm no pro but sounds to me like your bass is getting a little lost with/in the kick-drum in parts. If it were me I'd be wanting to cut through a bit more and the growl to be heard a bit more. But nice sound overall. I'd be happy coming away with a tune like that Edit: Listening again, it was maybe only the chorus and maybe just the 5 stringer?
18. I enjoyed that, but not seeing him chuck that gorgeous Tele at the end. Could of done a few more numbers. was the fabulous pair right at the end?
19. Thanks. Nice set-up. Gives me gas for Aggies I copped your settings on the Octave and Envelope, I'll give them a try.
20. Nice one. Not many better with their chops on the bass
21. Recon your (SG?) would look nice with red or black I just put some Black beauties on my Stingray to try and tame it a bit, after one practice I'm not totally sold yet, even tho I do like the feel of them. I remember donkeys years ago trying some steel Roto's that had a black coating, but they went dead and lifeless very quickly, I never bothered again with them.
22. 24 and 26 from me lol
23. It would have to be a 64 for me as well, I can't see me ever seriously gassing for one that much, if someone wanted to buy me one, or I suddenly had a load of cash I didn't know what to do with then it might be another story.. A sunburst would hit the spot, but then again I'd probably not like to gig it or want to take it out anywhere, so it would just be for the pleasure of looking at and picking up once in a while. But why not, we only live once. (That I know of)
24. Any one checked this DVD out yet? I just put in an order, I'm sure it will be worth it for the Q&A alone http://www.30hertzre...0t5av933x1d3k7x
