1. if so, which one? I'm thinking more and more that I need one, thought I could control it in the fingers but now thinking I can't.
2. Nice review and congrats on a fine looking bass. Hope you grow to like it even more. I'm a little the same as you having used Warwick entirely for some 20 years and felt nothing was missing. Decided on a change and got a Jazz which was/is nice, but seemed to lack somthing playing the type of music I do with the band.. Went for a P bass and love that suited the stuff I was doing a lot more... always gassed for a Ray and had a bit of money left over from some OT I'd done so picked up a nice 2 eq off Basschat.. It has fast become my no1 machine, Cuts through but still sits in so well live and sounds great recorded...as you say they a very tight bottom end and then you can get as aggresive as you like with the treble control and cut through anything.. I do chop and change with my Bass's nowadays .. but getting a lot of love for the Ray.. I'm a convert for sure

JB, what year?

When did they go from 3 to 4 bolt necks?
4. Nice. Wow! Can you tell me more about that bass Walbassist? I guess it's pre-CBS, Don't think I have seen one with those type knobs, only the old stack knob Jazz's? I have a spare set of covers lying around, looking at yours make me want to put them on my CIJ P fretless.
5. Nice. I'm liking mine more and more as I realise how versatile the MM's really are sound wise.
6.
Really nice. I've only ever seen that pup config once before (could be the same bass ) so there can't be that many about!
Think it's the same one I do wonder where it is now, it went off to Norway from me..
7. Here's a pic of my old Stage 1. I used it exclusively for near on 20 years.
8. The Rezillos at the Marquee in 78. Just before they released Top of the Pops as a single. Gobbing (tho not by me) was very much the order of the day I seem to remember. It was a good show.
9. Well done. I normally make sure I'm pretty low in the mix.. till I feel a bit more confident and also try to avoid slapping no matter how much I think the song needs it. At least on my first outing lol. I had an audition earlier this week for a covers band and only knew about 3 of the songs they wanted to try.. Oh it's just blues in E or A they would shout out! The Band is only a sideline project mainly for fun so no harm done and they asked me if I'd come back next week.. so it must of gone ok. edit: Forgot to say goodluck and hope you get the call-back
10. Nice, congrats on the Bass and the Birthday
11. That's what you get for the new light weight P's Simmo did his in one with the Clash.
12. Having lost a girlfriend to a PY lookalike in the distant past, that's a -1 for me, Oohh the pain! (still) Anything Pino is awesome, I love the way he is so tight in the groove and then pulls the most wonderful frills
13. Jerry Scheff of Elvis fame amongst others was another bassist that only used a one finger pluck.
14. Good job. Nice to see you are getting your left-hand fingering worked out, something I regret not having done right from the start.
15.

Is that not too much of a oneness? lol. Just looking at the headstocks I can see it's not I'm down to 2 P's now one fretted and one fretless, it's hard to let them go!
16.
I put a set on my Stingray. I'm liking them a lot. A bit higher tension than my usual D'Addario EXL170, but they feel nice. Quite bright, higher output, and noticeably midrange rich. I think they suit the Stingray very well. So far so good!
I have been using them on my Stingray for a couple of months now and have to say I think they are a good match as well.
17. Our mate Ed Friedland does some good reviews of the GB stuff. That's why I went all Genz Benz. Worth a look at his channel if you haven't seen them before. Some of the newer models on there as well.
18. "Sounding better" as they quoted is a matter of personal opinion. Sorry not be of much help but.. In my experience some cabs are more focused and punchy some have the mid- hump bump etc, I guess it all depends what your looking for... I use a GB Neox 212 T, which suits me just fine down low and gives me enough punch as well. Trying to save yourself £70 and ending up with the wrong sound would be annoying. Never tried EBS gear, but heard a lot of good reports on it. Some of the better companies will accept returns if your not happy with your purchase. It can be hard without trying out first and the amount of gear we have to choose from seems to make it harder. I was lucky I was given the GB on a trial and only had to stomp up if I was happy with it, which I was. Good luck and let us know what you do.
19. lol they are a great tool in making you be a bit more exact with your playing and can open it up in ways a fretted can't. I'm still a bit nervous using mine with the band , tho I'm brave enough now to get it out for a song or 2 lol.
20. I'm a big flats man, when I got my first Ray I stuck flats on it right away and dug the sound it gave me, but I now think my P does flats better and the Ray really sizzles with rounds on it... Think I'll leave the EB Cobalt rounds on it till they fade and I'm left on middle ground BTW, I thought the live version of Ashes was ferking awesome and better than the studio versions.
21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o250Kfzcmmc&feature=related Holger.. got to love him I found him through Jah Wobble
22. Here's another pic of a fretless, so my guess is they did. http://www.jaromi.com/strony/pods/foto/instrumenta/026_basfretless.png I had a BL 700 back in the day, it was the first bass I ever bought new, couldn't afford a Fender P at the time.
23.
My next Precision is on its way. 1977, in black, with black pickguard, maple neck/fretboard, ash body. Will be a nice mate for my 77 in vintage blond (now a dirty yellow) with black pickguard, rosewood fretboard, ash body. Just gotta wait til next Thursday. Once I`ve got it, methinks a photo is going to have to go up of the pair of them.
Lol, I'm glad I got that black / maple off you when I did I suppose going the vintage route with the new one I can let you off.,, Please post the pics of it.
24.
Think I'm going to go with my craving and get one of these on order: http://www.ebay.com/...d-/110900217512
Wow! that is good value. Lucky I have my GAS in check for now.
