They'd certainly still put a lot of Bands to shame. I think Flea and Chad always give it 110% or they wouldn't bother with it anymore, it's not like they have to! Last time I saw them live was back in 85 and I have total respect for anyone that can still give it as much as they do.

You already posted a thread about GB Streamliners.. There are a lot of good heads out there but which one will suit you only you can really tell.. Get yourself along to a decent shop and try a few out.. if you can't do that, then narrow it down to the models that interest you and go search the web for reviews videos etc.

I don't use the 900 but do use the 600 into a 4ohm 2x12 and find it's never come up short on the loudness stakes. I also like the simple controls, set and forget. I have found the DI both pre and post to be very good for any foh or recording. Good enough amp for me.

lol at some of the above I've had the Pandora PX5 for a few years now, I still use it a fair bit and like that it's so mobile (I can easily take it outside in the garden etc) It's handy also that it has USB connection so you can hook it up to recording software pretty easily. The only downside for me has been my total lack of skill at managing to programme any of the drum patterns, so I have gotten bored with the preset drum patterns, sounds. ..Fast forward to this summer and I purchased myself an iPad and one of the first apps I tried was Garageband, pretty blown away by how fun and Easy (I have to stress easy) it is to use to record and throw ideas down, I especially like the drum sounds and their easy programming. The only thing missing was being able to use my bass and possible guitars, so I have also ordered an iRig and wait to see if this will take me to another level that the Pandora couldn't. Embracing newish technology

Congrats, they are nice, I have an AS 2009 Jazz, that is a dream to play. Nothing wrong with the Jap models, my 2005 CIJ is up there with all my American built Fenders is that what you mean Lord?

We all know that both can sound great depending on what sound your looking for and /or what your trying to do. A lot of the Jacksons stuff being recorded with a J and no.one would say that sound weak.

Awesome thread I agree with all the adjectives, having both a Jazz and P... ..Can we start another thread on Bongo's and Rays, H and HH please.

Genz Benz Streamliner vs Shuttle - what is the difference?
Highfox replied to Paul S's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've had both and the Imo the Shuttle 6.0 has as you say less colour to the sound, very hi-fi. The Streamliner is warmer and more kind of rounded in sound to my ears. The newer .2 Shuttles I'd be very interested in trying reckon they would be the best of both worlds.. -
I just put some of the Cobalt hybrid coated Slinkys on my Stingray, like Lozz I thought they'd be a good match, my first impressions are that they are very hot and zinggy (I would say that coming from having flats on there).. My plan is to let them hopefully die a bit and then never change them lol.
The fingerboard on this bass looks quite dark like ebony. Is it just the photo as I understood that these basses only came with rosewood boards?
Hi, yes the picture does makes it look a bit darker, it is a fairly dark tint of rosewood still I just swapped out the Pups as I already had some stock USA Fender pups sitting doing nothing, the pots seemed fairly good quality so left them be. Upon further inspection I'd guess it's the Basswood version I have, I can't see any grain underneath the paint. No idea about the tuners but they do hold it in tune ok so good to go on all fronts now. I'm very happy with it.

Must be fretless Precision basses, as I just picked one up
My thats pretty. Is that the one OHM recently sold? Very nice indeed
Thanks I managed to get it off a guy here in Finland (for a change)

Thanks to some guys on this forum for filling me in on how nice these bass's are. I had been after an unlined fretless P bass for sometime. I swapped out one of my 2 fretted P's that wasn't getting much use for one of these and don't think I'll have any regrets. I'm still fairly new to the fretless world, if... I can get my playing around it I have an idea that it will suit a couple of the songs we do.
I play in a punk-ish band and did a gig with a fretless. Sounded great, didn't use a plectrum either. If you want to do it then do it. Sod everyone who says not to.
Exactly, why try and limit music.

I have changed so much from my humble beginnings
I'm in the pretty much the same boat Mr C. 48 and I used to get really hung up about not knowing any theory. To be honest I'm not bothered now. I can hear when a note sounds wrong so I don't play those ones. I've also just come to terms with not trying to over play. If for instance a chorus sounds better with me just bashing out the roots I will do it happily now. I'd rather spend the time I'd need to learn theory writing lyrics, getting gigs or doing band admin. That said if I was 28 now I'd probably be up for a bit of learnin'. But then again I'd probably do what I did when I was 28 so that wouldn't work.
Interesting post.. Sorry I haven't read through all the replies These 2 posts sum me up as well. I have often felt I'm very limited in my progression after playing non stop for 34 years. It gets frustrating feeling that you are limited in what you can do,... but as a load of people have said it's up to you what you play, I find sticking in a bit of melody here and there keeps my playing fresh and also challenges me to to be a little more melodic and creative.. Roots and 5ths are fine as well it's our job. -
I'm fairly new to the Stingray family, wanted one for years but always ended up with something else for one reason or another, now I have one can't see myself being with out one again!

When do you give in?... Straight away usually if I can afford it
IMPORTANT: DO NOT SLAP AT BASS CHAT GATHERINGS, OR AT ANY OTHER GATHERINGS OF BASS PLAYERS,
lol, unless you are really bad at it

Thanks for the heads-up. I have just grabbed the ibook version for the iPad and it is VERY nicely presented, the audio and backing tracks work really well and the lessons seem very well thought out, there is stuff in there for everyone from beginner to full on pro. Great job! I normally get bored quickly with theory books but this one seems one I'll stick with. If I have any questions I'll be back Stuart! lol

Thanks for that dmz, especially the model numbers. Do you know if the PB62FL comes in an Alder body or just basswood? Also any idea what pickups they have in the 2005 models? Seems hard to find info on them and what I have found seems conflicting.. with regard to pickups and body material. Thanks again.
-
I have my eye on one of these and wondered if anyone has had a chance to play one or has any words of wisdom on what I should look out for or expect with these models? Seems it's hard to come by fretless P's nowadays unless you (can afford) something fairly old or stomp up for a Tony Franklin sig. Am I right in thinking that the only non signature fretless Fender P basses are made CIJ/MIJ nowadays? Thanks..
I've downloaded a sample to have a nose If I like it, I'll buy the book
This forum is terrible, please tell me it's no good.
