I've gone the other way! Taken La Bellas off my '51P & tried TI Jazz Flats. Only had them on a week but don't think they feel right for me. They're a bit lightweight by comparison, not by gauge by sound, a bit twangy or too bright. I think they will be more suited to a Jazz bass I've just acquired so I'll be fitting my long time favourites - GHS Precision Flats - to my '51P & stringing up the '62 Jazz with the TI's. Cheerz, John
Good choice. I have my P's strung with La Bella's and my Jazz strung with TI's, Good call the jazz and TI's they are definately a good match. I haven't been able to try the GHS Precision Flats yet, but they are on my list of must tries. Wonder how they would sound on a Ray? I have TI's on it atm, even tho it sounds good they could also be just a little too brite for my tastes. No rounds for me thank-you!

Bought a Stingray off Nick. Smooth transaction, he was even kind enough to pack it well and post overseas.

Thanks Guys. That black P you sold me Lozz has been my main weapon and is fiirst choice most of the time. I'll take the Stingray tonight to rehearsals and see how I get on.

Isn't it a great feeling My first Stingray. 2EQ. Never thought I'd go back to active basses, but these just pop and growl so nicely and have pretty fast necks on them. I changed the pickguard over from the standard black one to this white pearl just to personalise it a bit. Thanks to our Nick (Magnolia) for sorting out the shipping and patiently waiting for funds to clear.

Owning a couple of P's and a Jazz and having just added a Stingray to the arsenal, I'd say they are all slightly different animals, (can't go wrong with either) but as to which ones best, that will depend mostly on my mood and the sound I'm after.

TI Jazz JF344 Long Scale - Fit through body?
Highfox replied to KiOgon's topic in General Discussion
Nice one. I have a set strung through on my 2009 Jazz and another set waiting to go on my Stingray once it arrives I like really like the feel of the Nickel and the TI's low tension, you can really dig- in with them and get some pop. On the other hand I have La Bella's on my P's and they will stay there till they fall off or rust. Lots of choice and variations out there in flats land. -

Genz Benz shuttle 6.0 - Whats the best lightweight cab
Highfox replied to AMPEG's topic in Amps and Cabs
I bought a GB Shuttle but the Orange sp212 cab whislt it gives me 600 watt handling doesn't move air. I'm looking for a cab weighing about 30 lbs to go with it, excluding the GB cabs can anyone suggest a suitable cab thats light and portable?
What do you find wrong with the GB cabs? I only ask as I run a Neo x 212 and find it a great match for the Shuttle and Streamliner. -
Really like this track I'll have to look out for your album.

La Bella's 760 FSL on both my P's.
Sorry, who is this?
Sykes! Sad to say my 16 yo Daughter is into them in a big way! The music is ok but everytime I hear him sing/shout/scream or see any video of him, I get an overload of aggresive feelings that make me want to do physical damage to him. I have to beg her to turn that s**t off. I know he runs his own clothes company and the Band seem to be on the road and working the whole time. Oh the joys of middle age

Guess it depends what kind of sound your after.. but the Duncan Antiquity 2's do it for me.

I love watching and listening to any footage of Ber..nard. Not sure if this has been posted before? Here's Bernard showing John Taylor how to break it down in one of the Powerstation songs. No idea if John played the part on the recording! Interesting to see Bernards picking technique without using a pick http://www.weedioh.c...x?VideoId=14528 and here's a guy talking about Bernards "chucking" technique Interesting stuff for a mortal like me.

I still use my BG500 2x10 for smaller gigs and home rehearsal, good value amps, the 500 can go pretty loud as well. If I was looking for a fairly small combo I'd deffo consider the 250 at the €'s it's going for.

awesome groove.. great playing on the brass as well. Be even better with a live drummer as well.
There was another thread about him recently: http://basschat.co.u...ve-for-the-guy/ He's a member on here & he's pretty popular.
Oh crap, sorry my post was spam then. On the positive side a few of us that missed the other post got to check him out.

Wonder if anyone else has tried theses? I just put a set of Seymour Duncan Antiquity II 60's pride in my 2006 P bass and it's really given me a much fuller sound, more in the lows and very tight and bright (without being harsh) in the highs, somehow more punch as well. I thought the bass sounded nice with the modern Fender pups, but these Duncans really kick it up a notch... even my band mates noticed. Very happy with them and would recommend highly if your after Pbass pups.

For me Punk was (is) more about attitude than the music, it was a collective feeling people had that things could change (for the better), it also broke down racism to some degree, gave people the idea and motivation... anyone can do it! It had spin-offs in fashion, art etc that we still see today, that all has to be a positive thing. As has been said and I agree it's pretty hard to label the early punk music as a certain type of sound but you can certainly see an attitude.. from the Jam to the Pistols, Clash, Damned etc. I'd say the youth gave it a pretty good go from 76-80.. for me it all got old hat very quickly after that once Punk became a uniform and simply relied on how fast you could play.
