I've only had one early 92 Mexican (standard, I think thats what they call them?) Fender Jazz bass and it was very disappointing to say the least, I bought it blind without trying! I also have a 2009 USA jazz, but decided to spend a bit of money getting DiMarzio Noiseless pickups installed on the MIM to try get rid of the awful buzzing from the stock pickups and also try give it a bit more punch but it was still a let- down, that has convinced me that I'm better off going straight for the USA versions than trying to mod what was in my case an inferior bass (it was a lemon). You do pay a bit more but should get some return on a USA Fender if you need to sell. I have read that the later model Standard MIM's are better and they could well be, but in my case I won't be buying another, or if I do it will be one I can get my hands on and try first, lesson learned.

I just visited my Luither today and asked him about aging in instrument's woods and the differences it can make, he reckons as the wood gets older the canals in the wood open up more and form small bubble chambers, the sound can then resonates in (more, many) different directions throughout the wood and thus he reckons opens the sound up more. No idea but thats what he told me and he loves his wood As many people have said it's how it sounds and feels to you that makes the instrument special.

I have been using the 210 version for almost a year now and can't really fault it. I find It's very versatile in it's sounds (maybe because I had been using a Trace Elliot GP 12 for the past 20 years lol) It could be a bit heavy for some, but for me it lives at rehersals and only gets carted off to gigs a couple of times a month, It's nice and feature rich if your looking for a combo.

As the title says summer is here in Finland and I like nothing more than going through a few lines practicing sitting outside. Thought I'd post a pic of how I do it (another hobby of mine is photography) Pandora PX5 and an ipod touch make the job easy. Personal stuff but.. It was a definite intention for me after going to see the Clash for the first time and watching Simonon throwing his bass around and looking that cool, how could you not want in!.. ......I was a big Public Image Ltd /Jah Wobble fan as well, bass was where it was (and still is) at for me. Thats all it took for a young impressionable 15 year old to get hooked on trying to playing bass. Makes me kinda sad to see he's selling it if I'm honest Wonder why? I know he's still pretty pissed off at getting next to no Clash royalties for his work with them Can't be skint can he?

Bought a loverly Fender P- Bass off Lozz. He was a true Gent and even reserved the bass for me (with a small deposite) whilst I scratched the cash together. It arrived safe and sound. Top Guy.

I think it was some kind of custom model, and may of been just a one-off. Even the Guys at Warwick couldn't find out a lot of info about it. I liked it a lot and it was the only bass I used for 20 odd years. Great sound with a lot of punch. Weighed a ton tho. It went off to a guy in Norway in the end.
