  1. Just develop a heavier playing style (not 'heavy' music, just adopt a heavier touch) and you'll find yourself blasting away naturally! Truckstop
  2. Jack, if it all goes wrong for whatever reason, can I call second dibs on this please? Cheers Alex
  3. "GOOOOAAAALLLLLL! AND ANOTHER!!!!" Truckstop
  4. Actually, I feel I can play harder with active basses! Anyway, I have everything on 100% on my Jazz. Less hassle and it sounds great! Truckstop
  5. Any trades at all? Truckstop
  6. Bloody hell everyone, get a grip! Does it really affect your lives that much that you would just rather not have it at all?! Just don't read it! Truckstop
  7. I know what you mean. Leave it off for a few months and come back to it when you're ready and join a new band. Or learn a different instrument and start a new band? Music, above all, is supposed to be fun. Truckstop
  8. Ha! I too saw that a couple of years and thought it'd be a great idea. I gave mine away too after struggling to use it to it's full capabilities! Hope someone grabs it and uses it! I hate seeing gear not being used. Truckstop
  9. GK 400RB-IV. Got it for £345 from GAK nearly 7 years ago and it hasnt put a foot wrong yet. If it died today, I'd buy a new one tomorrow. Truckstop
  10. My GAS list at the moment: J-East retro pre Ampeg 210HE Sandberg PM5 Truckstop
  11. In response to an earlier question, my 2x10 easily keeps up volume-wise and bass-wise in my quite loud band at practise (havent gigged it yet, but i'd DI anyway). Despite what a couple of people have already said, the 2x10 HE provides a surprising amount of bass. I'd go for two 2x10's. You can break the rig down for practices and small gigs, and it'll certainly provide enough volume and bass when you use both. It's the cheaper option too! Truckstop
  12. Yeah! I very nearly just sold my car so I could buy OldHorseMurphys Sandberg PM5!
  13. Ernie Ball is probably as cheap as I would go and that would be in a situation if there was simply no other option and I desperately needed strings! IIRC, it's about £25 for a set of Slinkys? I dunno I use LaBellas these days. Truckstop
  14. You'd be amazed how fast huskies can run. Truckstop
  15. Do they come with nachos already? Truckstop
  16. Of course! Post it up Truckstop
  17. It's so cheap and I want, I want, I want it!!!! I'm actually looking around my room looking for things that I can afford to sell. I'm even eyeing up my vintage book collection for this! Truckstop
  18. Bleed - Meshuggah. Just the sheer stamina needed. Took probably 3 weeks on and off to finally play the song all the way through. The bend in the main riff's a bitch too. If you go too far, or not bend enough, it sounds awful. My Baby Just Cares For Me - Nine Simone. Trying to work through it right now. I can make my own walking line to go with it, but actually playing the actual song note for note is proving very tricky and also you have to get the 'bounce' just right or it sounds like a very weird rock song. 19. Elbow!: Scattered Black n Whites (bit slow, but a wonderful song) Station Approach Weather To Fly Bones Of You Truckstop
  20. First bass: Squier P Go to bass: Fender Jazz V 'Your' Bass: Fender Jazz V Truckstop
  21. Bought an Ampeg 210 HE off him a couple months back for a great price. Lovely guy, transaction couldnt have gone smoother. Cheers Alex
  22. Hmmm, I can't put my finger on it. There's something that makes me think you guys could be so much better! I actually thought your singer was quite good, but the songs don't really flatter her style and timbre. Maybe try slowing the songs down? Everything seems a little rushed and breathless (the music that is, not the singer). Also, I think the songs you have decided to cover are quite characterless too. Again, as others have mentioned, I know you need to try to cater for everyone by playing songs that everybody knows, but you really don't need to sell out as much as you think to keep customers happy. Try and pick a few songs that are dynamically and musically interesting. I'm sorry to say it, but you all looked a little bored. Covers are supposed to be fun! It just sounds like an un-mastered CD. The music's there, it's tight and it's ok... just needs finesse! Truckstop
  23. Tweed-tastic! Truckstop
  24. I really don't know how Yamaha can get away with gold hardware. It always tends to look a little naff on other brands I find. You can trust John, he's a good guy and knows his onions! Have dealt with him in the past and he's very straightforward and communicates very well. Bump Truckstop
  25. They can't get another presenter in. Jools Holland is an institution and knowing the BBC we'd probably end up with some vacuous, pretentious, talentless nobody to present it. That said, I dont think I'd mind if LWJH ended tomorrow. Guy Garvey from Elbow used to host a BBC R6 show and he was great. He was witty, got a lovely temperment and knows how to relate to his guests. I reckon they should bin LWJH and just start a new show with a similar format with Guy in the hotseat. Truckstop
