1. Wow. 7 years! Very nearly 8!
2. Hello Chris, I'm Alex, I live in London Colney so not far from you at all! You should get yourself to the Hatfield Bassbash. Not sure of the exact date, I think it's in June? There's a thread on it somewhere. Anyway, welcome to the forum!
3.
Or Moondance.
Or Dollar
4. A higher powered speaker would probably go louder before distorting but you should be aware that the sound quality might suffer a little bit. In the past, I've swapped out a 200w 8ohm speaker for a 500w 4ohm speaker and sounded great. I never needed to loud enough to the point that I'd notice a problem with it's tonal qualities. Best of luck!
5. Yeah, looks well nice! Glad you're getting on with it. I've been hankering for a 5 string jazz and something like this may fit the bill.
6. Good god, what a horrible piece of crap.
7. £150?!?!?! If I had it, I'd buy it. This an amazing deal, someone needs to get on it split quick!
8. Interparcel all the way!
9. If it's 6 I'll take it
10. Thanks for all the suggestions, gents. Have checked out the ones I've not heard of and I've found a couple I think I'll try and see at some point. Whitechapel Murders and Dragged into Sunlight in particular. Ps. Yeah, there's a lot of Doom out there!
11. I've seen worse offerings from internationally acclaimed boutique bass builders, aesthetically speaking. I've actually played one and apart from being uncomfortable they're not too bad.
12. Wow, that looks great! Again, not a fan of the purple, but the aesthetic is very pleasing indeed. Thank you for sharing!
13. Yeah sure, I can send you a set of 4 machine heads if you'd prefer? Call it a fiver posted? They'll be off a 270 which is the same as the 170 except for the addition of a bridge pickup. PM me to let me know your address. Cheers Alex
14. Badge - Cream You can funk it, pluck it, pick it, thumb it, slap it, groove it and distort it. Sounds great any which way and is handy for showing off a basses range.
15. What the hell is this?
16. If you want to trade you should still put the ad up in the For Sale section and pay the appropriate fee. Anybody else wishing to trade gear has to, doesn't matter how obscure the item you're after is! GLWTT
17. I like chug, breakdowns, death, groove, blasts and djent. As much screaming as possible, I find clean/sung vocals very unsatisfying in more extreme metal. Not a massive fan of thrash, solos or hardcore. Thanks for that list Cameron, familiar with most of them but will look up the rest later! Thanks, all
18. Oh no
19. Hello all, In the mood to listen to some new metal bands up and coming in the UK. Any suggestions? I'll be wanting to support the scene and buy music so anything that's available on iTunes preferred please. Cheers!
20. Yeah there's plenty of work if you're happy to play pub standards (60s,70s,80s pop and rock). Sounds like you're looking at Berkshire. Slough, Reading, Maidenhead etc all have lots of pubs that have live music. Slightly further afield there's Luton, St. Albans, West London, Woking, Guildford etc all within an hours drive and busy! There'll be as much work as you want. If you want to work with two or three bands and you're happy to travel then you can work two or three nights a week. Pubs pay on average £200-£300 in the South East. Wedding bands sound great and pay well but hard to get off the ground in every respect. Best of luck
21. What's under the ashtray? Mutes?
22. Ah yeah, traditional headstock all the way! Hope you enjoy it!
23. Argh! I wish I had money for this. Everytime you bump it I have a little perv!
24. Musically and creatively speaking I think I could only work in a democracy. Logistically speaking I prefer a dictatorship. It's nice to have a chief cat-herder in a band who's happy to collect kitty money, chase venues and promoters, book rehearsal rooms and generally push the band towards a common goal.
