1. £75 for the weekend (Fri, sat, sun, return on mon) or £35 a night (returned next day.
2. Well no because Fanz Ferdinand hadn't copied you. They'd just stumbled on the same chords. You'd have to prove that they'd listened to your music and then purposely copied it and then profited from it. I think. Or at least that's what seems fairest!
3. Beautiful bass at a great price! GLWTS!
4. Sounds counter-intuitive, but if you cut a lot of bass on your EQ you should hear a much more even volume coverage over the whole fretboard.
5. Correspondence with TheGreek has motivated me into updating this thread a little bit. Not much to report, I've managed to source most of the parts, but still after a neck. I'm aware there's a few out there but, as before, don't have much money to spend on this as yet. Here's the things I now have; P and J pups from a old Yamaha RBX Wiring loom and pickup selector switch courtesy of KiOgon Bridge assembly from a Hohner B2A Knobs from a Yamaha RBX Strap pins from my spare parts drawer Well seasoned Cherry body blank I'll be copying the shape of the RBX control cavity so as to utilise the cavity cover that came with it! Steinbergers et al. come with a strap button extension arm so as to make wearing the instrument more comfortable. I'm thinking of ways I can make one. The best idea I have so far is to get some metal tubing, plug one end with a dowel and screw the button into it. I can then either affix the extension into the body by drilling a hole in the side of the body for it to sit in, or by shaping a channel in the back for it to lay in which I can then secure in place using bolts or something. Progress is slow, haven't even shaped the body or anything yet! I can't really do much until I have a neck. As Kiwi pointed out, I need to know how the neck and bridge work together before I can design the body and build it! Cheers Alex
6. I'd bin it. Doesn't look like it does anything at all.
7. With weddings and formal events you'll ask for the money to be paid, in full, at least 72 hours before you're due to arrive at the venue. Cheques should be recieved at least 7 working days before the event. My band secures a 20% deposit at least 4 months (120 days) before the event. The deposit secures the date for customer and is non-refundable if the function is cancelled by the organisers for whatever reason. If the full payment hasn't been recieved by the time that the band is due to arrive, then you don't play. Simple as that! If there's a disaster and the band can't play (after full payment is recieved), a refund in full is suitable compensation.
8. 4+2 headstocks are lovely!
9. Just let the professional do their job. You're paying them to make you sound good, let them do it! Drink plenty of water and have lots of soft fruit to hand. Keeps you hydrated, focused and doesn't stink the room out!
10. As an aside; I'm very happy that you still have the Citron! Only played on it for half an hour once but it really was a wonderful instrument and I remember being in awe at it's playability.
11. Cut nearly all the bass and you should be able to hear yourself better. You'll get a great tone and increase the headroom available to you since the amp isn't using all of it's energy pushing massive lows out of the speakers. Worth pointing out that the RH450 isn't a massively powerful amp anyway. I'm sure many people use them in two guitar bands but some bands are just louder! It could just be that you're struggling to be heard amongst the din of two guitarists and a loud drummer.
12. James Jamerson in Gene Simmons make-up using his Axe bass was quite good
13. Edit: unhelpful
14. Nine Inch Nails. Always sold out so impossible to get a ticket!
15. I have exactly the same instrument and I just don't feel the need to look at anything else. Sounds great, looks great, feels great!
16. The TRB's are known for having wide necks and wide string spacing. 35-36" scale is also hard work! BB's are much more comfortable! Slimmer neck, shorter scale length and less bulky to wear.
17.
Yeah I completely see your point here but its been me thats done absolutely everything already so far: Out of my own pocket I have bought/ had made or sorted out: Our website, business cards, flyers, posters, band banner, stage lights and PA system. We had it agreed I 'd sort out all that and the others would find the gigs, so I sort of feel mugged off for all the effort and money I put in. Especially the website because I spent loads of hours on that!
Apologies!
18. Why don't you try and get some gigs for the band to work to? Say to the band that you won't be attending rehearsal because you have a list of 50 pubs you want to ring and email to ask for gigs. And that you'll do the same thing every other week from now on. End result: lots of gigs and you only rehearse every two weeks. No point moaning about lack of gigs if you can't be bothered to find work yourself!
19. BARGAIN OF THE CENTURY!
20. Why not look at a Yamaha BB2025? The cream of the crop when it comes to passive basses in my, and many others, opinions. They're stocked at Bassdirect so make sure you try one. They really are outstanding instruments! Ok, they're not JJ config, but sometimes you'll play songs where you'll wish you had a P pup.
21. New 2x10 I think?
22. It's Nigel's (xilddx) local. Apparently it's only open on cold and wet Tuesday evenings and they only ever have two blokes and a dog in.
