1. I think my current rig is the best I've ever had. Yamaha BB424 Peavey Max 700 Peavey 410TVX Although I do have fond memories of my Ampeg PF500 and SVT210. Nice thread, got me thinking of all the old amps and stuff I had! I wish I still had my Peavey Firebass 700 actually Truckstop
2. £16 a month?! Where from? And what's the final amount? Cheers Alex
3. Price drop to £80! Needs to go, taking up too much space! Alex
4. Oh my god, that is unbelievably gorgeous! You must keep it in that colour! The brass matches it perfectly Truckstop
5. There's two Yamaha BB1024's on this forum for £500 at the moment. Personally, I prefer the Caramel Brown but I suppose the Vintage White one with the scratch plate is more traditional. Great basses! Passive, PJ, great construction; nails the vintage vibe. Well balanced, not designed to be lightweight basses but not prohibitively heavy either. Truckstop
6. I've been using one for rehearsals and practices for the last 18 months with no issues. Not gigged it though! Truckstop
7. Enough jibber jabber!
8. These are extremely lightweight. Surprisingly so! Great Yamaha construction and tonal quality too. If I needed a back up, I'd be all over this! GLWTS Truckstop
9. I have seen a couple of local bands using them and I don't think they offer that much more over traditional set-ups, sound-wise, but the logistical benefits are obvious.
10. Yes and no. Playing technique and EQ brings more to the table than strings do, in my opinion. I can get a zingy sound from every stainless steel sting ever made by using the tone controls on the amp. I can also get a thuddy bass sound from any string ever by using tone controls on the bass and the amp and by changing my playing style. Personally, I choose LaBella Stainless Steels because they have a tension that I really get on with. I didn't get them because they match the instrument particularly well or because they emulate a certain sound I'm after. I use the amp controls for that! Just my 2p. Truckstop
11. Why doesn't the 500 have extra cool functions and stuff? Like parametric EQ buttons, treble/mid/bass boosts etc They look great though; very Orange! Truckstop
12. Sorry guys, not after any trades, need cold hard cash! Bump!
13. How big and heavy is it? A standard guitar combo stand should work if it's not too bulky or heavy. A good quality one with latching, rather than gripping, arms will work fine. If it's too big and heavy for a stand, just lean it against the wall or a table or something. Hopefully the design of the combo makes this easy and painless. I remember seeing a dude that used a length of wooden broom handle to prop it up with, just had to make sure it was anchored properly and job done. Truckstop
14. I like LaBella Stainless Steels because they start off quite bright but after a couple hours playing they bed down for a really nice vintage tone and a kind of stiffer tension that I really like. The BB's really excel at vintage tones; bridge pup great for all those 80's disco lines and the P nails the 60's Motown vibe. Blended together they sound great for rock and pick playing, again, think classic rock tones. You won't be able to coax a scooped EQ out of a BB, there's a lot of mids there! Truckstop
15. Oh my god, I used to use one of those years and years ago! The drummers Dad had one in their music room and I used to use it instead of bringing my own bass because I was a lazy 14 year old. Fond memories of learning how to play bass on one of those sadly, too young to notice such things as output, preamp and playability! Truckstop
16. Should be plenty of examples in Tool's back catalogue. Timmy C uses a wah in Cochise and I think a few other Audioslave/RATM numbers. Sorry, can't remember any particular songs right now! Truckstop
17. OBBM makes cables under the RockWire brand. Top top quality and great prices. He must have a time machine or something too because you'll everything within 48 hours. Truckstop
18. Yeah if you want to start having live music at your pub or bar, then you need to try it out regularly for at least a year to see if it works properly and has any potential. Truckstop
19. Would you know if it was paid or not? Cheers Alex
20. Hello all, Selling my lovely Peavey 410TXF. Great cab, but I've found something smaller and lighter for pub gigs and I've sourced a 410TVX which matches my Max 700 for larger gigs. So the TXF was part of Peavey's Firebass range from the 90's and 00's. Plenty of balls, plenty of weight and it's black. In good nick apart from a little bobbling on the carpet and scuffs on the corners. It's a great 4x10 cab; there's a reason practice rooms up and down the country use these and that's because they sound great and are indestructible. Spec and notes: http://assets.peavey.com/literature/manuals/80304499.pdf No trades please! Collection from St. Albans (just off J22 of the M25) or happy to deliver for petrol money. Cheers! 21. I clean with lemon oil and then finish with a little natural beeswax. I'm not a fan of oils, it always feels like it's not properly soaked in no matter how much I buff off. I'm convinced I can feel it coming off on my fingers! Beeswax seems a little more slick and you get a nice satin finish Truckstop
22. I tried a Rumble 100 the other day (12") and was very impressed. Excellent value too, £229! And the weight is unreal; unbelievably light. Truckstop
23.
Good job the jack russell didn't do a number 2 on it, otherwise your speaker would be producing a bad farting noise.
Ha haaaa!
