1.
I can now say - Amp GAS truly gone FOREVER!!!
Steady on there horsey, don't tempt the monster that is GAS.
2. CHEAPEST. MULTI-COMP. EVER.
3.
Cheers mate. Yeah ive noticed that from some other threads, great minds think alike! How you been getting on with the M9? I think the price of the Rat Tail was about £125 posted, then £20 import vat and handling. Took about 2-3 months to come through though as he makes pedals in batches.
To be honest I haven't even unboxed it yet, I took all my Bass stuff home from uni at easter to force me to concentrate on revision for my finals so I had it delivered there as well. Will FINALLY get to try it all out in about 2 weeks, excited to say the least. That's not too bad I guess. Are you happy with the sound of it? I've been scouring the BC and TB classifieds for one of the newer designs to come up.
4. Lovely board there, mine is going to look very, very similar when I get it together. Gas'ing for an Aguilar Octamizer to add to try against my OC-3. How much did your Rat Tail come to imported?
5. Wow, you would've thought that 3 years of positive feedback might suggest Happyjack not be a rip-off merchant, but I guess some people don't care for that. This is why I often wish this site wasn't expanding so much.
6. I guess you've got to look at this from a professional perspective: do the advantages (money, exposure, travelling etc.) outweigh the disadvantages? If you think your compensation justifies it then I guess you can mark it down as one of the hassles of the gig. I mean, it doesn't sound like the situation is going to change any time soon and you are effectively part of his backing band, so if you don't want to put up with the crap any more I suggest you raise it with him, one professional to another, and if he isn't accommodating then give him reasonable notice to find a new bassist. I know it's obviously a complicated problem, as the issues have only been raised since the dynamic has changed, but there's no point continuing with it if you're not happy or financially don't have to.
7. Perhaps just posting the thread in the FS section instead and then linking to the auction? I mean that's what happens a lot when the item fails to sell on here in the first place often.
8. Bump for a nice electro acoustic bass. I've played and gigged one of these before and it's a nice instrument.
9. Ok, the EHX MicroPog has both one up and one down which can be blended to taste with your clean signal. The EHX POG has 2 up, 1 down and the EHX POG 2 (which is also programmable) has 2 up and 2 down. The EHX HOG is arguably the most powerful, it has 2 octaves, -1 octave, Original note, +5th, +1 octave, +1 octave +5th, +2 octaves, +2 octaves + 3rd, +3 octaves, +4 octaves. It is also the most expensive by a long way. Those are the Electro Harmonix offerings which seem to fit the bill, there are other manufacturers out there too but I only really know at the EHX ones to be honest.
10. Wow in this condition as well, incredible. You could start a right bidding war with this on ebay if you were prepared to ship worldwide!
11. Numbernin6's "Bad Medicine" EP, only just dropped a few weeks ago. Check him out on soundcloud, it's not your average Dubstep/Electronica. Alchemy is a big tune! http://soundcloud.com/numbernin6
12. I'm also really interested in this bit of kit, especially after watching the Monkeylord's review. Seems pretty nifty, but the price tag is quite hefty.
13. For Bass, I can't get enough of the Audix D6. The AKG D112 has become a bit of a standard, that's a great mic too for sure.
14. Niiice, will be interested to see what your custom Xerograph is like. Was it pricey? (if you don't mind me asking!) Is it just the pitch stuff that you can't recreate/estimate with this set up compared to your main board?
15.
My strings cost more than your bass.
+1
16. Moment of realisation: after my massive pedal purge last month, I've gone from way over 20 down to a meager 8 effects pedals, and even then we're talking very utilitarian pedals. What is wrong with me?! I really hope my M9 delivers in the delay/modulation departments when I FINALLY get to try it out in a few weeks. Is the EHX freeze really as good as everyone seems to say it is? I kind of wish that I had picked up Silent Fry's on here for cheaps when it came up just to see.
17. All true, this guy is a badass.
18.
Which is why you should never buy a Fender (or any other mass-produced bass) without trying it first.
I know this sounds picky, but I don't think I would ever even buy a bass without trying it first, no matter what.
19. The beta is a bit brighter and is a bit hotter. You can't really go wrong with a standard 58, great mic. I've used both live, as an engineer and as a performer, didn't make much difference to me either way really. I've heard some say that the beta is a little less prone to feeding back but I couldn't really tell the difference to be honest. Whichever you get you won't be disappointed.
20. There's always a fine line between use and abuse and I'm all for preserving the longevity of my gear. I mean it cost me a lot of money and as a student I don't have much to spend to replace it if it goes wrong. I'm not going to deny someone else borrowing my bass if they reaaally have to at a gig or proclaim that no-one else can use my amp, but there's definitely a certain amount of etiquette within gear sharing which kind of rules out the cab/pint glass stuff the OP wrote about. I love my gear, knocks and bruises are always eventually going to happen no matter what, but I try to respect it.
21.
I've just invested in a TC Electronic Nova System. I am really impressed!
I saw one pop up super cheap on ebay the other day, was that you? What's it like with bass? What are you using it together with? Sorry for all the questions...
22. Thanks for the quick reply, have a bump on me. I was wanting this to A/B against my M-80 but it doesn't sound like it will work in the way I want it to. Does sound incredible though from all the demos I've heard, lemme have a think.
23. Looks like you've got plenty coming and going Shep. What are the plans for your board then or is that a closely guarded secret until you've put it together?
24. If you really want to venture into the 5 string end of things, go ahead but I think you can get much nicer basses for the same money than the MIM Vs for what it's worth. The G&L L-2500 Tribute series is of particular mention, I've seen one or two defretted ones for sale on this forum for example. If I were you I'd just go for the VMJ, they're cracking basses, I'm thinking of buying one myself.
25. Remember to also consider how you are planning to use your compressor. If you rely on your own dynamics to change how your filter responds then you may want to place the compressor after the filter. Hence, I would suggest going Distortion > Filter > Compressor, if you like playing under your filter and digging in to open it up, or just Compressor > Distortion > Filter (like me) if you like unified attack or don't use very heavy compression.
