One of two ways to get there, with a dedicated lowpass filter, like the Iron Ether Xerograph or the Moog Low Pass Filter (MF-101) or with an EQ pedal, where you would roll off all of the offending higher frequencies, such as the Boss GEB-7. Either of those lowpass filters allow for expression pedal control so you can roll the higher frequencies in and out as required, but cost more than a simple EQ pedal.

In Ear Monitors - what to do?
The wife says that I should take the money and stick with the cheapy ones from Audio Technica - she would!!!
Sorry I can't offer any constructive advice, but that is exactly the kind of attitude that my misses has with all my gear spending, it's never what I want to hear! -
Iron Ether Xerograph - anyone in the UK got one?
EskimoBassist replied to pantherairsoft's topic in Effects
To be honest, I think I would always need another, more straightforward envelope filter on my pedal board, something like a 3 Leaf Proton for funky stuff, to partner with the Xerograph for synthy lines. Bit extravagant having both though!
That's what I've got at the moment, it's great! -
The start of my super pedalboard tidy up... About a third done - tiny cable tidies!!
So anal! But yet still so worthwhile. -
So, an actual pair of real living musical geniuses?
EskimoBassist replied to Truckstop's topic in General Discussion
I love these guys - they've been bringing me years of joy direct to my youtube subscription box. Natalie is of course pretty stunning too. -
Ancient thread resurrection! I'm currently trying to get hold of an M9 myself (so if anyone wants to sell there's please shoot me a PM ) as I've been so impressed with how well it looks like it can take care of all my delay, reverb and modulation wants. For the price it seems pretty unbeatable and it's going to allow me to slightly downsize my set-up which will be nice.

Got myself a TAFM today and ebay/basschat permitting I will have an M9 soon too. Really looking forward to how my set-up is shaping up. After playing with them both at length, I've also decided to keep my Xerograph Deluxe as my only filter and to shift my Proton - it's so warm and lovely but I don't need two filters and I want the expression control, but still need to get an EP-2 for that. There's definitely going to be plenty going in the classifieds when I can get photos of everything to list. Downsizing is quite a nice feeling, especially when with a smaller rig it looks like I'll be able to do more than ever. -
The ODB-3 gets a lot of stick, but it is a brilliant pedal to stack with others.

ampeg BA500 combo, are there any views on them?
EskimoBassist replied to herman's topic in Amps and Cabs
Bit lower end, but I've had a BA115HP combo for a few years, not a bad amp in its price range. If you're wanting a top combo though I can't recommend highly enough the Mark Bass stuff. -
If you get the Phase 90 make sure you get a Script reissue or if you get the block logo version make the R28 mod on it. Out of the box the block logo Phase 90 has a volume boost and an exaggerated effect which don't sound nice on bass, the R28 mod brings it closer to the Script version or EVH models...
To be honest I've never noticed the volume boost and I quite like how it sounds on bass, but to each their own I guess. I'm pretty sure mine is unmodded as I got it from new. Having said that I've not had the opportunity to compare it side by side with the script reissue or an EVH model.

For what it's worth I've used a Phase 90 for years and absolutely love it. If you want a simple, small design with a really rich sweep, but not as ridiculous as the Small Stone with the colour switch flipped to INSANEMODE, then the Phase 90 is just for you. If you want a few more options then the Subdecay Quasar (or Baby Quasar for that matter) could be better for you. I'm trying to move over to a Line 6 M9 for all my modulation and delay stuff at the moment so it looks like I may be kissing goodbye to it, although if I were to keep any one of my modulation or delay pedals it would be my Phase 90 every time.
The singer and guitarist then pop outside for a herbal cigarette.
More than drinking, this is what irks me the most with people I've played with before.

I don't need a truly amazing chorus, just something that is passable and that will keep the lowend. The phasers are more important to me, anything that can cop a decent Phase 90 sound will do it for me. The delays and reverbs are what it's all about though - I was about to drop about £160 on a Nova Repeater but then figured if I would spend that much on one delay pedal why not just get an M9. And yeah I'm pretty sure I need an M9, I would use the looper plus I would want to use 3 effects at the same time.
-
Thread resurrection! I am seriously considering buying an M9 and getting rid of all my delay and modulation pedals. Can someone please convince me either way! As far as modulation goes, it would be mostly the phaser and chorus that I would be using, and I would be using the delays and reverbs a lot too.

I used a Korg AX3000B for years both live and in the studio: in short, it's a fantastic piece of kit. For the price they can be had they represent a fantastic bang for buck. For me, it was a simple choice over the GT-6B. The chorus and modulation effects are the true shining points of the unit, together with the amp modelling. On top of that, the delays, overdrives and fuzz effects are all brilliant too, plus you can assign the expression pedal to control any parameter within any effect, or use as a global volume. It can be used in 'patch mode', where you can swap quickly between groups of effects or you can instead select a patch and use it in 'stomp mode' where you ca treat each patch like a set of individual effects to be turned on and off at will. And believe it or not, but I did manage to get a usable synth sound out of it. The downsides: it does not have a DI out (you may not need one) or a looper.

My tribal planet bag didn't really hold up very well, I more recently picked up a second hand iGig case from this forum - absolutely wonderful case. Very well made, comfortable and most importantly it provides plenty protection for my bass. If I hadn't bought one I would have gone for a Mono probably.
