1. Same, I don't really like the super exaggerated sound you get with it after.
2. Better option, clone of the Diago powerstation: http://www.johnnyshredfreak.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=12
3. You don't ask, you don't get!
4. Nice, looks like lots has changed. Fancy giving us a quick run down what your signal path is and how you use it all?
5. Sure is! I've had a battery in mine for ages and it would seem that when a power cable is inserted it disengages the battery, meaning that the battery isn't flat as I've been daisy chaining it.
6. Sick video man, nice to see you can properly do it live too.
7. It's definitely a synthy sound that you're picking out - but its' not courtesy of the clean bass provided by the bass player. It's coming from one the synth players stood behind him. You could easily replicate that sound with a fuzz on a lower gain setting. An added octave pedal would get you that full low-end presence. I don't really think you need a filter as it isn't really squelchy or that wet. One pedal to do it all? The EHX Bass Micro Synth would be one of the more readily available options. I'd recommend just getting separate Fuzz and Octave pedals though - much more flexibility!

9. I was heartbroken to realise that for the first time in years I couldn't make the Manchester Xmas show extravaganza in Academy 3.
10. I personally find that a good pre-amp/di is really important, and I can't recommend the MXR M-80 highly enough. It also has a switchable distortion channel which sounds great in a band mix. I'd look at possibly getting an Octaver: the Boss OC-2/3 are good choices, as is the Aguilar Octamizer and the MXR BOD. It all depends what kind of octave sound you would like. I would have said to keep your Chorus, it very much fits within the kind of material you will be playing, as would a compressor for that matter! In all honesty though, with a good tuner and a decent overdrive (and a pre-amp/di) you could easily play anything within your range.
11. Bit of research suggests that Jeff Caxide from Isis would use a Fulltone Bassdrive and an MXR M-80 for his distortion, with an Aguilar Tone Hammer for his pre-amp, amongst a whole load of other modulation pedals. Have a look see: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_cz9To5JXsNo/S4kOk-St9II/AAAAAAAAB8U/i275gnJxCPg/s800/ISIS_JeffCaxide_Pedalboard.jpg
12. If it's a fuzz sound that you're after that sounds good in a band mix (and adds plenty lows) the Bass Big Muff is a good choice. Yes there are many better muff clones out there, but for the price they go for, I don't think they can be beaten. The MXR M-80 is a great pedal, for me it's always on as a Pre-Amp and I switch the distortion on when I want a little extra grit. Sounds very good in a band mix, less so on its' own. +1 to Paul5: please give us some clips of bass sounds that you would like to emulate, it's always easier for us when we have something to work from!
13. How about this Expressionator module which Jean Baudin has been testing over on Talkbass? Released soon, here's a demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZLhxXHTAAM
14. I am so tempt!
15. If you ever decide to shift your Analogman Chorus, please give me a shout! I've been wanting one of those little devils for ages!
16. Wrong area mate, you might have more luck if you swap it into the For Sale section.
17.
Few fine tunings taken place on the monster board this week. Digitech Whammy DT (see the sale section ) has been replaced by an Eventide PitchFactor (WOW!!!) which adds millions of new things to the setup besides the whammy effects. Also picked up a Tone Factor Fuzzsaw (I didn't have a fat ungated fuzz) and managed to pick up an ultra rare Boss PN-2 (Tremolo/Pan) which I've always wanted as they sound bloody amazing! Shep
I did think that you would end up with a Pitchfactor sooner or later. Gonna use a separate moog expression pedal with that as well then? I'd be very interested to see how the PN-2 sounds with a Bass: no low end loss at all? Must be mighty tempting to move towards running your rig in stereo, especially with that and the DD-20.
18. To be fair, many compressors have quite an active gain stage, such as the MultiComp, so you could use it as a boost as well. Clean boosts will simply raise the overall volume of your signal. You can nicely overdrive your amp with them if you dig in, but really it should bring you back to the signal level and overall volume that you want. Be aware though that boosting your signal so heavily will amplify fret and bass noise, just as if you had turned on an overdrive.
19. Nice videos! I'm having a real problem streaming them at the moment though, keeps freezing up. Will try again later with a better connection at uni.
20. Yeah can't wait for a nice bass demo of this.
21. I've used one with a 4x10 Hartke cab with Aluminium drivers, sounded great and had plenty headroom for a reasonably sized pub. It is primarily made for sounding awesome at lower volumes, but I had no problems even so competing with a full band. As walbassist said though, it's got a nice, clean DI out.
22. Great advice and an incredible board. It's been really interesting to watch yours evolve and change over the last 2 years or whatever it has been now. Looks like hella fun to play with!
23. LS-2 is your ultimate utility pedal for guitar/amp/line switching, for parallel chains and clean blending. The swiss army tool of the pedal world, it will do this a easily.
24.
you;d need to blend it with your dry signal, but yeh. I don't think the POG can do 5ths or 4ths though?
No it's only +1/-1 octaves, but for a cheaper way thicken your sound it's a good compromise.
