1. Ooooo only 8 pedals? Tough question! I'm almost tempting to cheat and include a multi to get away with it all! TU-2 > EBS MultiComp > MXR BOD > Source Audio Pro Bass Distortion > EHX Bass Big Muff > MXR Phase 90 > MXR Carbon Copy > MXR Bass DI I don't really think I could get away playing with my band with only 8 pedals to be honest, without a multi like the M9 for my modulation stuff. Been messing around with making an electronica board though, I think I could get away with 8 pedals on that! TU-2 > EBS MultiComp > MXR BOD > Line 6 FM-4 > EHX BMS > ZVex Wooly Mammoth > Moog Low Pass > Moog Freq Box Although having said that it would still be nice to have my DI on the board and a Whammy to boot too...
2. Cheers for that, that's answered a lot of questions for me. Yeah my only really concern was how strong the tracking is, I wouldn't need it for the octave down, so just as long as the filters are strong I'd probably still be interested. I can't afford one right now anyway, I'm gonna have to wait til the Summer when I'm not at Uni. Having four different presets really appeals to me, I've already got a Bass Synth Wah, don't use it live, but considering the number of filter effects that I want to use, changing the settings would be tedious, and it's fairly limited in comparison to the FM-4 anyway... Sounds like you've got some sick settings figured out to me, I'll have to steal them from you if I get one especially 3 and 4! The size of the thing doesn't concern me, seems like it's worth the pedalboard space to me. I'm really hoping to move towards playing more live electronic music as a side project this summer, so hopefully having an FM-4 would have my filters covered. EDIT: Forgot to say, just noticed you're the live Bassist for Charlie Barnes! Good times, I've seen him support Amplifier at the Manchester Academy twice now, it'd be good to see him with a bigger band, great guy, great music.
3. Happynoj, how do you rate the FM-4? I've read a few reviews but I'm still umming and ahhing about taking the plunge.
4. EBS MultiComp ftw!
5. If you can find some kind of pedal with either a stereo output or just some form of splitter (a cheap Y-cable would work), you could then send send one signal through an EQ pedal, cut all the lows and then send this signal through to a delay pedal. Of course you could then belend these two signals together at the end as well using a simple wet/dry blender.
6.
havn't seen these looks much more reasonably priced! any bass videos/demos anywhere??
And here's the official ZVEX Video: http://media1.zvex.com/mastotron.mov
7.
mini board!
Hey, just happened to fall across your band on Myspace/Facebook, and I knew I recognised that pedalboard! You still rocking this thing or have you made any changes recently? Great session from This Dirty Basement by the way.
8. Want amazing tracking? Possibly think about going digital over analogue. I've had an OC-3 for ages and it tracks very well. Good experiences with the Micro Pog aswell. As far as analogue goes, can't beat the EHX BOD, amazing pedal, really versatile. Wouldn't mind trying out an Octamizer either...
9. Picture of the pedalboard would be great please!
10. Surely, with an amp like that in your arsenal, your rig could kill small animals? Seriously though, that sounds amazing, I'd love to see pictures/hear sound clips. Feel even a little bit guilty for taking this from the unfortunate friend of a friend?
11. I am harbouring a raging semi just looking at all the buttons and those sexy cutaways. Never have I found a Musicman so attractive!
12. It's been my go-to bass fuzz and live work-horse for the last year or so, not one problem at all. Great pedal, sounds fantastic. Cheap as anything really, only a Supercollider could replace it on my pedal board and besides, I prefer it over my Zoom Ultra Fuzz!
13. +1 Dunlop 105Q and +1 Marshall Reflector. Both sit happily on my pedalboard. Great pedals.
14. Line 6 Tone Port - My mate has got one, great product, will definitely do the job you're after. Makes a great recording interface too. M-Audio Fast-Track Pro - Another mate of mine has been using this too, great results. From what I know/have seen, either would do the job well.
15. Anybody who is in need of a decent tuner pedal, watch the classifieds, I have a feeling there will be many TU-2s suddenly going up for sale!
16. Hey, any pictures? Price guidelines? Specifically, I am interested in the Envelope Filter.
17. Nice work, looks pretty sexy!
18.
Give your ODB-3 a new lease of life by putting an EQ pedal after it, to shape and tame some of that drive. Try cutting the treble and boosting mids and lows for a thicker distortion.
I really like my ODB-3 as it is stock, but trying it with my GEB-7 after it really does make all the difference.
19. Alright, I was in the same position a few years ago and managed to get my hands on one of these for about £30 off this very forum: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Warwick-pedalboard-P...=item2305d1a2b2 I know that obviously it is priced at a lot more than its' worth, but that seems like a good solution for you. I would sell you mine, as I upgraded to a much larger Diago Tourman years ago and never shifted it, but it's very useful for smaller sets and acoustic gigs when only a few pedals are needed. Great bit of kit. Alternatively you could make your own, much, much cheaper! May I suggest a OneSpot (or daisy chain wallwart equilivilant power supply) if you're only looking to power a few pedals, or a that Johnny Shred Freak power supply (clone of a Diago Power Station) if you think you may have a few high draw pedals. Very cheap anyway. Basically the same unit. As far as a board goes, my guitarist bought an old case from a charity shop, fitted it with foam and made a small custom board out of some old wood to fit inside; like a glove! I think it cost him £3.20 or something silly like that to make and it does the same job as my Diago, but I spent a hell of a lot more on mine... These aren't bad either for the price: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Effects-Pedalboard-C...=item5886a3be24 If you look they come in different sizes too . Hope that's of some help.
20.
i had to revive this thread.. last nights radio 1 essential mix was by Noisia.
Absolutely amazing, I'm so glad you posted this as otherwise I would have missed it!
21. Ooo-err! Pretty bass.
22. I bought an EBS MultiComp for exactly the same reason that you describe here, probably the best pedal I have ever bought. I couldn't recommend it enough!
23. I would love a P, but I don't see where I would rest my fingers as an anchor as I do when I play Jazz, on the pick ups. Anyone else encountered such a problem? Timmy C style finger rest?!!
24. All these amp gut shots really make me want to pick up a soldering iron.
25. eBay is always a good bet!
