But yeah, the Boss CEB-3 is pretty good, if you like that sort of thing. It has a crossover on it so you can limit the chorus to upper-register stuff, which is handy.
That's my staple Chorus sound, great pedal in my opinion. Well worth the money and you can definitely pick them up for cheaps!
Niiiiiice. But barefoot switching is surely a bit painful on the Wobo? Have to ask... what's the signal chain?
Haha yeah well I set it all up on my bed, so that's where I took the photo! Okay, signal: BASS > TU-2 > GEB-7 > MultiComp > M-80 > D.I. to F.O.H (Clean signal) > Output to 105Q > WOBO > AMP WOBO A: ODB-3 > CEB-3 > PHASE 90 > BF-3 > RF-1 > DD-6 WOBO B: OC-3 > G5 > BSW > UF-01 > BBM -

Well long time no post, so here's a little update. Here's my little "essentials" board that a very small car forced me to put together: And here is my pride and joy HARDEHARR: EQ is to compensate extreme output of Thunderbird. I don't use the Flanger, Ultra Fuzz or Bass Synth Wah live. -
Ha ha He looks as relaxed as a rabbit in headlights
HAHAHA yeah I know that's a classic photo! He was scared to say the least. We had a week to teach him the set, and prior to that he hadn't play on an actual drum kit for nearly two years. Somehow, he pulled it off.

On Friday, my band ESKIMO SANDWICH played at The Duchess in York. Great gig, our drummer couldn't make it so we had to train up a replacement in a week, hectic times! But anyway it went very well! Here's a link to a few photos: http://www.kluens.co.uk/gallery/index.php?...h&pagenum=1 And of course here is the obligatory photo of myself:

BEHRINGER DI 100 +1 It's a great piece of kit, very cheap but provides a fantastic sound. All the mod-cons of the mroe expensive DI boxes and in a very rugged and road worthy chassis.

I see your position and I empathise with you greatly. Although I have never been temporarily replaced, the band have gigged without me, playing acoustically. Needless to say, they openly admitted it felt empty without me there. Perhaps more importantly though, I have seen this from the other side of the coin. This evening, infact, we are playing at The Duchess in York, which is quite possibly the largest indoor gig we have ever been booked for, if you've ever been there you'll know it's a great venue, great atmosphere and some truly great bands have already taken to its' stage. We were booked for this gig MONTHS ago and in truth all our efforts have been leading up to this evening. BIG PROBLEM. It becomes clear a few weeks ago that our drummer will not be able to make the slot, instead he is preoccupied in London, working at a Drumming Festival, in view to securing work playing next year, as unlike myself and the guitarist, he is not going to university. Although a devastating blow, as he is a GREAT drummer and indeed an equally integral part of the band, we WOULD NOT AND COULD NOT cancel the gig. Ultimately, the last week has been spent rehersing every day with a replacement and good friend of the band, although it took us three weeks (for which the main part I spent abroad anyway) to find a suitable replacement, exhausting lists of session drummers. Although it will be strange to be onstage without our drummer (ala special relationship us drummers and bassists have ) we always knew we would be playing. I even dislocated my shoulder three times last Friday, which has recovered in record time, might I add, through the rehabilitation of FURIOUS BASS PLAYING. I don't think anything can stop us!!! Our drummer recognised it was his responsibilty to do everything to make this gig go ahead without him, as he was indeed creating the problem. He taught our dep his parts, ran them with him and is also footing the bill for Mr.Replacement's services. At the end of the day, no matter how good our replacement may be, we will never replace our drummer with him. And I think you should have the same confidence. It's just one gig! I don't blame you for being a little peeved, you should discuss EVERYTHING at length in a band. I mean you're all friends first right?! At the end of the day though, sometimes you've got to put "The Band" first and if that means getting someone else to cover your back once in a while when you can't be there... then so be it. Piece of advice for the future: Don't want to be replaced? BUY LOTS OF EFFECTS PEDALS THAT ARE INTEGRAL TO YOUR BAND'S SOUND, the weirder, more boutique and rarer the better. Pretty impossible to replace a player like that at short notice, for someone else to get all the pedals and learn all the sounds!!!

Sorry but isn't the best solution just to tell your guitarist to get back in his place and be a good little widdler? OH NO WAIT A SECOND I'm an effects junkie...USE YOUR EFFECTS PEDAL BLAH BLAH ETC ETC

I've been using Rotosound Swing Bass Strings on my Epiphone Thunderbird for as long as I can remember. I've had the current set of strings on it for ages so it's definitely time for a change, they're dead as dead as dead can be! It's really my back up Bass, but it's worth stringing it nicely. Sometime in the near future I'll probably set it up exclusively as my Drop-D bass. Would anybody recommend that I move away from my Rotosound habit? I'm not really looking to spend more than £20 on a set of strings, preferably 45's, I like that heavy-ish gauge. Of course the strings would have to be a longer scale, considering the length of the beastly Thunderbird. Does anybody know the standard set of strings on the Gibson model, factor fresh? Doesn't say on gibson.com I happy to try Elites, Elixir, Ernie Ball, Warwick...anything really! Well anything that you think could beat the Rotos at a similar price tag on my Thunderbird Cheers, Rich #EDIT# SORRY FORGOT TO SAY, ROUNDWOUND STRINGS PLEASE!

Evening, I've never really been a big fan of The Killers, but en route to a few gigs, my drummer has really switched me on to a few songs. So searching through Spotify as you do I come accross this gem of a tune, "Move Away". And what leaps out at me is Mark Stoermer's playing. Not techincal, but it really fits in the song and it has also been mixed quite loudly. So what do you think? Bit of a rocking tune I think. Bass? I'm thinking it's a Fender Jazz, a chorus pedal set with a fairly fast rate and deep sound, overdriving an Ampeg SVT?

I absolutely love the WalkAbout combos, I've used one a few times in the studio and it is hands down the best sounding amp I've ever had the plesure to play through.

+1 for the Boss CEB-3 great pedal I love mine. I however would NOT part with it.
when you understand why the C string on a 6 string bass is a C, and not a B, as on a guitar.
+1

I think this pedal is fantastic and if I didn't already have an MXR M-80 and a host of gain pedals I would snap one right up. For me, the DI function would be a TOTAL MUST. I think it would be a big shame to remove it in the Standard version, but that's just my opinion. I would have to have the current model if I was going to choose.

Try typing "Distortion" or "Overdrive" into the search function, select the effects forum and it comes up with loads of information and prevous threads which I'm sure will answer your question.

Strap button screws constantly coming loose!
+1 - Also what strap locks are you using? I was using Schaller's and they always seemed to come lose but I switched to Dunlop's which use a larger screw and they seem more secure. I am tempting fate here aren't I Steve
Yeah I'm using Schallers. I think I'm going to have to go for a quick fix today of another matchstick as I've got a gig tonight and tomorrow night but then I shall definitely use the match stick trick. Cheers guys for your advice! -
So basically, the first thing I did when I got my Jazz was to put strap locks on it. This was also the first thing I did to my Thunderbird. To begin with, no problems, but then in time both sets of screws started to come loose, to a point where the whole screw would just come out. Not good if you're rocking a show . I've done the match stick trick, I've glued the wood in place and then just scerwed it back in but it seems to be getting worse and worse on my Jazz and to be honest I'm getting sick of it. I'm sure others must have encountered this problem, how did you over come it? I have heard that using a wood filler would be a good idea, opinions please! Cheers, Rich
