1. I bought an EBS MultiComp, and for the exta money, they are well worth the investment. Fantastic piece of kit, and next to my tuner and DI, it is the one pedal I could not possibly gig without.
2. I've been using an M-80 for a few months now and I think it's great, as a D.I., a nice distortion and as a pre-amp. I use it to send a clean, unaffected signal to FOH, at a little growl at times, when per say a full on overdrive would be too much and to add a little more tonal flexibility to my rig. Great pedal, and with the switchable distortion, I'd rate it over the standard SansAmp any day .
3. Just received my BF-3 and Bass Synth Wah, came quickly and communication was good, and wasn't a bad price either. I would definitely deal with him again, cheers mate! Rich
4. Hey well I was in your very position about two months ago, as I too bought a nice Delay and a Synth. For the Delay, I settled on a good deal on a new DD-6, great Delay, it was that or the DD-5 for the same price, and to be honest I don't really need the Tap Tempo and the fact that the DD-5 can't oscillate kind of killed it for me! Go for the DD-7, it sounds like a great pedal, though I have no experience of it. For me I thought it a little too pricey, cause for the price of that you could get yourself a used DL4 or DD-20, which have all the functions that the DD-7 have including tap tempo and much, much more, although they are larger. If I hadn't bought a DD-6, I would've bought a Line 6 Echo Park, that gets A LOT of love around these parts, as the analogue is very convincing, and doesn't have to sound so metallic and digital like the DD-3 or the DD-6. For the Synth I spent a very long time searching around. I ended up buying a used, but mint condition, Korg G5 and I haven't looked back synth. Many may say it is just as good as the Akai Deep Impact (aka the holy grail of all Bass Synth pedals, glamourised by Muse fans emulating Chris Wolstenholme ) although it does not carry the same extortionate price tag (i.e. £140 not £340!!!). It does everything from subtle to extreme, has a very good clean blend and a whole host of different wave forms and sounds, 11 in total! Yes the Bypass is naff, though thats not an issue as I have it in a true bypass loop anyway, but the swathes of sounds and the extra un you can achieve using an external expression pedal, much the same way as the SYB-5, sold it to me. And yes, it does track well! Even on some chords, suprisingly, although this is not what the manual says! I did consider instead buying a decent filter to instead make my own DIY syths sounds with my compressor, octaver and overdrive pedal, but I thought I'd just bite the bullet anyway, as I had a fair amount of spare cash. Having said that, that is what I'm doing right now! I've got a Digitech Bass Synth Wah, and perhaps also an old DOD Filter too, so I'll see how it compares to my G5, running them with an OC-3, ODB-3 (with the highs rolled off) and my MultiComp. Even so, I really don't think I'm gonna be getting rid of my G5, I just love it too much! So yeah hope that is some help, Rich
5. I play Alternative/Rock with my band Eskimo Sandwich. Assuming we can have that nice tuner as number 5 I would have to say: Compressor: EBS MultiComp Overdrive: Boss ODB-3 Fuzz: Bass Big Muff Octaver: Boss OC-3 But even as a stripped down board I would also need my CEB-3 Chorus, WOBO Dual Looper and my MXR M-80 D.I. So I guess I lose the game as that's 8!
6. THATS NOT OBVIOUS AT ALL!!!
Haven't done this in a while, thought I'd add an update. It's pretty obvious what's on it so I won't bore you with the details.
7. Tbh I think this was one of google translator's worse attempts at changing german to english. Hence the german site link on the image and the untranslated "oder". Just a thought!
8.
Have a look at a MXR M80 D.I.+ if you can. It has a nice EQ section and switchable distortion which can go from mild to extreme distortion. I have, and use, one and can't speak highly enough of it. What I would say is that I've found it to sound wierd on its own but sounds perfect once in the band environment. JTB
+1 on the MXR, I use one and it's a great piece of kit. I use it as a subtle overdrive and to send a clean, EQ'd DI signal to FOH, and then another to my effects pedals, which are then sent to my amp and Mic'd and/or DI'd again.
9. Perhaps the worst idea ever, so please try not to shout, but if you still have the part, and you are careful...SUPERGLUE?
10. Okay so I HAVE researched this a fair bit, but I'm still left confused. There has to be a simple answer! I use a flat, diago pedalboard and so I would like to mount my wah like I would any other pedal, but of course I am limited by the STUPID FRIGGIN OVERLY LONG SCREWS!!! So I have seen the Wah mounting plates you can order from America, which is not really an option, especially with the current exchange rate and the blatent extortion that is shipping costs. Of course, I could just take out the screws and feet and tape the bass plate to the wah main body, correct? However I'm thinking possible resale value here, surely no-one wants a wah plastered in duct tape!!! I think the most logical solution is to instead buy appropriately lengthed screws, HAZARRR!!! Now where would I go about doing this? Or should I just tape it up and stop being such a whiney little b*tch? Cheers, Rich
11. Yes that is how much power you've got, which needs to be taken into account considering the gigantic current draw of all the studio gear!
I doubt that's amplifiers. It'll be something about lectrickery.
12. Here is my pedalboard, FINALLY completed . It's taken me a long time to put together, lots of saving and frantic eBaying, but I'm very happy with how it has turned out. Not much left for me to buy now, I'll think about a volume pedal, and I'm hankering for an expression pedal for the G5, but other than that there isn't much else I could want. So the fun bit: BASS> Boss TU-2> (normally the Boss GEB-7)> EBS MultiComp> MXR M80 DI> Clean DI signal to FOH, Output to Dunlop 105Q Wah> WOBO DUAL LOOPER: WOBO A> Boss ODB-3> Boss CEB-3> MXR Phase 90> Boss DD-6 WOBO B> Boss OC-3> Korg G5> EHX Bass Big Muff > AMP And I'm playing an USA Fender Jazz through to a 220w Ampeg BA115HP.
13. + 1 on the ODB-3. It's a great pedal, now loss of low end at all, infact it ADDS it, and i think it is a very versatile and good sounding overdrive unit. AND THEYRE DIRT CHEAP!!!!
14. My girlfriend bought me one for xmas and it's gone straight on my board, I was sick of the USA Muff sucking all my low end and generally sounding naff. This is a fantastic piece of kit and I would totally recommend buying one, to me, for it's price, it is the best bass fuzz out there, I even prefer it to my Zoom Ultra fuzz
15. Just bought a MXR PHASE 90 off of Dave, great nick, works perfectly, it arrived quickly, good, friendly communication and was a steal of a price! Cheers, Rich
16. Here's some more feedback for me from rmorris, just thought I'd paste it into my thread too. Just bought a great new Korg G5
Just posting to thank Psychocandy for selling me the EMGs - good to deal with. Similarly for Eskimo bassist who bought my Korg G5 . Sorry about the delay in posting guys - busy / Christmas / all the usual excuses for being disorganised :-)
17. I just got a second hand (but mint condition) EBS MultiComp and that does the job perfectly!
18. I would go for CEB-3 hands down, I think mine is great. But if I had the money I would get the EBS
19. Just received my Tu-2 from Oli, does the job great! Arrived nice and quickly and wasn't a bad price either!
20.
The white one.... http://lalweb.com/88/88-j.html
Good spot!
21. A player I think you guys should check out: NEIL MAHONEY, from the band AMPLIFIER - www.myspace.com/amplifiertheband And also, of course Chris Wolstenholme. Technically, not as formidable as someone like Victor Wooten, but to me an intelligent and interesting player. I realise I sound like a Muse fanboy saying this! But even so...
22. Just thought I'd create my own thread for my feedback given. Thanks. Here is Alien's feedback for me pasted in:
Bought a WOBO looper off me. No problems at all, pleasure to deal with him. Andy
23. Just bought an immaculate EBS MultiComp from Doug, great nick, great price and arrived next day. Couldn't ask for anything more! Top bloke, great to deal with Thanks, Rich
