Hey I've used this Behringer DI both Live and in the studio. In fact last time I recorded I used two, one for dry bass, for for effected. No hum, excess noise, just cheap, durable, ACTUALLY MADE OF METAL! This is one of the better Behringer clones. All for less than £20! Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!
EskimoBassist replied to dudewheresmybass's topic in Effects
I'm suprised no one has posted pictures of their shiny new xmas pedals yet! I've just got a Korg G5, a Bass Big Muff and a Boss CEB-3 and hopefully more are coming, so I should have a new pedalboard post soon soon soon with any luck . -
Okay! So I've just received my very own Korg G5. It says that you can use an expression pedal with it. Anyone with experience: What does adding an expression pedal allow you to do with the effects? Is it worth getting one? Which expression pedal could I buy to use in conjunction with it, if it is worth the investment? Thanks, Rich

Hello there! So yes Christmas was coming and my Gran wanted to treat me, so she gave me money and I bought a lovely Korg G5 Synth pedal from RMORRIS on these very forums. Got to say, great guy, great service, great price and very quick delivery too! As an expensive pedal I was eager for it to arrive in good condition, which it did, PERFECT condition. I have honestly never seen that much bubble wrap or packaging or foam in my life. Needless to say the G5 works perfectly and doesn't have a scratch. And even better than that, I got it for a steal of a price! Although it turned out that it was the packaging alone that added up for an expensive special delivery, Robert even suggested splitting the difference over what he had quoted me, although in honesty it seems more my responsibility to pay the extra. ANYWAYS, thank you very much Rob, you've made one happy little Bass Player at Christmas! Rich

Thanks for all your feedback! Yeah Amplified is a bit of Prog really, good fun. I think Drift Away is probably my favourite to play live, just for that bassline in the chorus and the funky break down bit. The temptation to start soloing in that part is pretty aluring when we're on stage!

I'ne only just noticed that this thread exists, but I'm loving it! I am absolutely hooked! When do you think that the completion date will be? It seems to be progressing really quickly, I'm glad this isn't some half-arsed job, especially as I'm this interested! Good luck with the rest of your build. And I must say, I AM VERY JEALOUS . Rich

Hey guys! You may remember I posted my Pedalboard after my band, ESKIMO SANDWICH, did a 3 day stint in the studio. The result of this session is our new 3-track EP, "Which Way To Go?", comprising of "Amplified", "Drift Away" and the title track "Which Way To Go?". This is the second quality EP that we have produced as a band, so we're really starting to find our sound. If you like Muse, Radiohead, The Music etc then our music could interest you. So please come along, have a listen at myspace.com/eskimosandwich and tell me what you think if you've got a spare 5 mins. You don't have to analyse my bass playing or anything if you don't want to, I'm interested in what you think of the songs really, but of course as we're all Bass Players I feel it would be nice to hear what you think of my playing too! Thanks a lot, MERRY XMAS! Rich myspace.com/eskimosandwich

Hey, Well I am sick of playing through atrocious amplification and so I think I should just stop complaining about it and get something done! Basically, please could you give me some advice as to a suitable Amp for me to buy. Because of travelling etc I would think a Combo would probably do me better, although the idea of a nice 4x10 and Head sounds great to me. I play Alternative/Rock music in a fairly regularly gigging band, so I need something that can stand up to playing Pub/Small club gigs and rehersals, and perhaps even some recording. It is ESSENTIAL that it has an XLR D.I. send, a reasonable EQ and if possible a built in compressor. No built in sh*tty digital effects please! I've got a pedalboard for all that . And I really don't need CD in or a built in tuner either! I was hoping for something in the 2x10 area, although I won't turn my nose up at a decent 1x15, and of course compatibility for an extension cab would be lovely. I am willing to spend up to £500. So of course I've thought about getting a decent second hand Trace, either the new Ashdown MAG or ABM or even one of the Ampeg combos the BA115HP (cvan get a new one for about £350) and the BA115HPT look quite tastey. It would be nice to have a valve preamp. Any advice would be fantastic! Thanks, Rich
Here is my question: As the unit doesn't have an EQ (Surprisingly!) I think I might run a seperate stomp box and use one of the modelled amps to tweak the tone. If there any gigging AX3000b owners out there... How do you get around the fact that you cannot use one of the Drives and an amp for EQ'ing at the same time? Are you running stomp boxes with it, and if so... what? Hope that all makes sense.
Hey I've been gigging one for nearly Two Years now so I guess I can give you some advice. Personally I use a host of gain effects before the Korg to supplement it, Big Muff, ODB-3 and I also use the Boss GEB-7 7 band bass equaliser pedal. So I guess through this I've never had to consider your problem, I build my sound AROUND one nice smooth, phatt amp sound with my Jazz and then use my pedals to enhance it. Hope that helps Rich

Well Ive been using a Korg AX3000B for about 2 years now and I think it's the best thing since sliced bread! It really is a cracking unit at a great price. The Octaver, Distortion, Fuzz, Chorus, Delay and even the Synth models are very good and the amp modelling isn't too bad either. I find the switching to work well and tuner tracks really well too. Personally I bought a Dunlop Bass Wah to compliment it, so think what you will about the wah modelling, although I used the Wah in the pedal live for over a year and was very happy with it. Altogether I think it's a great pedal and well worth the stupidly low price tag. If mine broke I would definitely buy one again, assuming I didn't try and integrate to seperate units, the way I seem to be going.

Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!

OK I am a very long time reader, but this is my first post of my pedalboard. Please excuse the picture quality. MY PEDALBOARD: This was the setup which I used with ESKIMO SANDWICH last week to record our new EP. Chain: BASS> DI > BOSS BASS EQ GEB-7 > WOBO DOUBLE LOOPER > DUNLOP 105Q BASS WAH > KORG AX3000B > DI > AMP LOOP A> SEND > BOSS BASS OVERDRIVE ODB-3 > RETURN LOOP B> SEND > BOSS SUPER OCTAVE OC-3 > SOVTEK ELECTRO HARMONIX BIG MUFF > ZOOM ULTRA FUZZ UF-01 > RETURN The rather tastey Sovtek Muff is only currently on loan, note the USA Muff which usually fills it's place in the chain. Also I have sinced placed the Ultra Fuzz out of the loop, after the Wah, simply because it does not feedback into itself if it is placed inside the loop, which is its' current purpose, although admittedly it is a much nicer fuzz than the USA Muff *NOTE*: The GEB-7 is only used for live performances to compensate for the output and EQ difference between my Fender Jazz and Epiphone Thunderbird And for further interest here are pictures of the rest of my gear I recorded with: -
Hey there, Well i've been using a Korg AX3000B for about 2 years now and i think they're fantastic! No looping and no DI out, but it makes it for it with it's fantastic effects, the Chorus, Delay, Distortions, Fuzzes etc are very good, especially when combined with the expression and control pedals and i find even the Synth is very usable. And it's cheap cheap cheap too! I've seen them go for less than £100 and that's a bargain! It's been the key stone of my effects chain for a very long time now and even though i've integrated many single stomps into my setup, the one pedal i could not gig without would be this multi! Hope that was some help, Rich

Thanks for your replies everyone . I think im looking towards a Carl Martin, an EBS or a BBE Opto-Stomp. Im just running a Passive Jazz through my FX and amp anyway so i think any of the three would do the job described nicely, especially as i don't use any Envelopes with harsh peaks anyway. It would be to bring out nuiances, maintain a relatively uniform signal at high gain and to protect my amp. Especially as i have quite an aggressive style, revolving around Fingerstyle, Slap and playing with a Pick. Thanks again, Rich
here is my current board. A few changes since last time.
Hey there What's the BBE like at the end of the chain? It seems like a nice compressor and i think you're using it in the same way i would like to, to control the overall signal, post FX that is! Thanks, Rich -
Nice bag!!! Here's mine on my new PT JR
Nice set up! What do you think of the BBE? And also what do you think of the Nano Stone? Cheers, Rich -
Hey, Firstly, sorry for starting my own thread to talk about this, i have used the search function and looked through numerous threads, but i have a few direct questions i was hoping someone could answer. I run quite a hot signal with a plethora of overdrive/fuzz units usually turned on and so i am looking for a compressor, preferably in stomp box form, to help even out my signal and prevent my amp (or someone else's amp perhaps more importantly) from being blown. And so which Compressor would you suggest i purchase? I've read good things about the Aphex Punch Factory, the EBS and the BBE Opto Stomp all which seem within my price range of £100. It is important that i buy a durable pedal and i do want it to be transparent when turned on. Hence why i am willing to spend the extra as it seems that the Aphex may not be too road hardy. Thanks for your help, Rich

We played to over 300 people, which isnt bad i dont think considering the appalling weather!! Pedalboard malfunction though halfway through our last song, i lost power to half my board! ARGH!!!!!!!!!
I'd be looking at a Korg AX-3000B. I have one of their little Ampworks boxes that has a similar modeling engine. You can do things like select a Patch, then switch to Individual mode to toggle each effect on or off.
+1000 on the AX3000B it truly is an amazing piece of kit and it can also be combined with other stomps really well! Ive had it for nearly 2 years now and it has never let me down! Rich

Brilliant
Your pedalboard has undergone many changes that's for sure! This is quite a neat little board, what ever happened to your Deep Impact though? -
Received a fantastic WOBO Double Looper from Andy today, posted recorded delivery. It arrived in smashing time and a works a treat, in practically bomb proof packaging, bubble wrapped to the maximum! It's in great condition and i got it for a pretty decent price aswell. So yeah i'd definitely deal again with Alien again. Cheers, Rich
