  1. I sold some Nordstrand pickups to Andrew recently - friendly communication throughout, and prompt payment. A pleasure to do business with. Thanks again!
  2. I'm in, great idea!
  3. Did a stupid thing and decided now is the time to crack Teen Town. Turns out I'm no Jaco 😂
  4. Sent some EMG bits and bobs to John, smooth sailing throughout (despite a delay on my end due to me unexpectedly going back to work!). A pleasure, thank you.
  5. Delanos in, Nordstrands out. Nordys now for sale on here!
  6. I agree about the Big Splits - they look great and certainly get aggressive when you dig in. I think if I had a second bass I would definitely like something with Nordys in, for a different "flavour". Although the Delanos are no slouch when you dig in either.
  7. I'd definitely recommend the Delano Sonar preamp by the way. I'm struggling to get a bad sound out of it.
  8. No problem! Not particularly good at wiring, just persistent (was a late night!). I'd say it sounds more "open" if that makes sense, maybe easier to convey dynamics would be a better way of putting it. To be honest the pre made the most difference. But to my ears both the Delanos and the Nordys were a good improvement over the MK1s, just not as much difference as the preamp made. Unfortunately I don't have any way to record any samples!
  9. So after much deliberation I've decided to go with something a bit different in my bass. So these are up for sale - Nordstrand Big Splits in Ibanez SR spacing (16.5mm), P2 shape (108mm x 32mm) so fits in the Bartolini MK1 routs. Comes with black pickup screws. Price includes postage.
  10. Well, after an evening of soldering and swapping through the 3 different pickup sets, I've settled on the Delano set. Not that I don't like the Big Splits, but the Delanos got much closer to the sound in my head - also with series/parallel/single coil switching, loads of options (which all sound great) on tap. Also loving the Sonar preamp, probably the most musical sounding pre I've used. Interestingly, the stock MK1 pickups sounded great with the upgraded preamp - if anyone else has the MK1 pickup/pre combination, I'd definitely recommend swapping out the pre first. So in summary, holes drilled and switches wired in, very happy!
  11. Going to try all 3 sets!
  12. Will do! Edit: they arrived today so shouldn't be too long.
  13. Delano Sonar 3 preamp has arrived, plus some Delano SBC Driver pickups! Now I'm just waiting on a new iron tip and I can get them installed! Interested to see which I prefer between the Delanos and the Nordys
  14. Fantastic experience buying a Delano preamp and pickups from Tony. Excellent communication throughout, wonderfully packaged and very fast shipping, even coming from Belgium to the UK. I've had local parcels take more time than it's taken these to get here recently! A pleasure, hope to do business with him again. Top bloke. Thanks again!
  15. Erm... autocorrect? Although I'd love a longer left arm 😂
  16. Thanks for the replies, I've actually ended up buying a Delano Sonar 3 band which should be with me soon.
  17. Bit of an update - after a lovely chat with @Hellzero and a few ponderings, there is now a Delano Sonar 3 MS/E preamp and some Delano SBC Driver pickups winging their way towards me! This way I'll be able to A/B the pickups with a decent pre and decide which ones I prefer. The other set will go in the classifieds.
  18. Yes - only has Quik Connect on the pickup side, normal bare wire on the other end. One for each pickup.
  19. Stunning! GLWTS 🙂
  20. ALL GONE. Free to a good home! Some bits I haven't used from some active EMGs I bought a few years ago. The only thing that's been used is the blend pot, fully working. 2x passive tone pots, 1x blend pot, 2x EMG Quik Connect adapter boards, pot nuts and washers, some Quik Connect adapter cables, 1x battery snap connector, 1x stereo jack (surface mount, not barrel). PM me if any of these would be of any use.
  21. More out of curiosity than anything else, I will probably be swapping the MK1 preamp in my Cort at a later date. A quick internet search doesn't yield many results for opinions on the Noll preamps - although what is there is generally favourable. Specifically thinking of the 4 band option. Anyone have any experience with these?
  22. Yeah, been looking at the Audere, the exchange rate isn't what it used to be unfortunately. The Glock seems to fit the bill though. And the low battery indicator, what a great idea! Think I would rather have that out of sight mounted on the control cavity cover though, I once had an amber G&L Tribute which a previous owner had fitted a blue LED in to fill in a switch hole, hated it.
