  1. Good thinking about the switch. I've been wondering what I'd do with the hole. Initial thoughts were the Noll 4 band (5 hole with stacked treble/bass) and a separate passive tone control to go where the switch was
  2. I was only half joking 🙂 but probably will end up replacing it in the future. I prefer sweepable mids, which the MK1 doesn't have. However I'm tempted by a 4 band, with separate low and high mid controls like an Audere or, probably more likely, a Noll
  3. Thanks, I was the opposite - had a bad feeling about it! But so far seems great. Now onto the preamp... It never ends!
  4. So far so good. This is probably psychological but I thought I was missing initial note attack on the G string, since adjusting the pickup height it seems to be balanced. Tone wise these are great, like a meaty J. Allows for good dynamics. Chuffed so far!
  5. I've tried and failed many times over the years, never manage to get them to quite match. Black is my go-to!
  6. Link to the thread in Repairs and Technical.
  7. The holes for the pickups were basically the same, about 1mm smaller but certainly nothing too noticeable. The Bart MK1s it came with had 2 pickup screws, the Nordstrands have 3 so had to pilot another 2 holes. Nothing drastic.
  8. Before (old pic when I first unboxed it), the child is mine too - starting her early!
  9. Fitted and wired up! Won't have chance until later tonight to plug in with headphones and see if the pole spacing is an issue or not.
  10. Fitted and wired in. Spacing is obviously off, will see whether it makes an audible difference.
  11. Pickups have arrived!
  12. Pickups have shipped, estimated Saturday or Monday!
  13. Sounds promising. Considering the Delano soapbars if the Big Splits don't work out
  14. Lovely, that colour... phwoar!
  15. Have you received aforementioned bass yet @Woodinblack? Edit - just seen your NBD post from yesterday, lovely looking bass!
  16. Very true - apologies.
  17. Thanks for the info! Lots to consider. I don't suppose you still have any of those pickup sets you'd be willing to sell do you? (In case the smaller spacing pickups I ordered don't work out). 19mm is still much closer than the 16.5mm ones I ordered.
  18. ON HOLD - EMG 40HZ set (passive) taken out of a Spector Rebop 5 I had a while ago. Fully working when removed, reason for removal was installation of active EMGs. Some light wear but nothing major, the HZ part of the logo is slightly more worn than the EMG part. £40 posted (UK), international would be more (can get a quote for any interested parties). EDIT: Forgot to mention, unfortunately I don't have the pickup screws for these. SECOND EDIT: Found them!
  19. Well, I've ordered a second hand set of Big Splits off eBay. String spacing slightly different but going to see how it goes. Will update when they arrive!
  20. I hope so! I've not much in the way of recording equipment, but will try my best.
  21. Well, I decided to just go for it. Pickups ordered! Will update when I get them fitted 🙂
  22. Thanks for the input so far. I guess what I'm after is - has anyone ever had a similar setup and had bad experiences with it? Or is there any theoretical reason why this would have an adverse affect in how the instrument sounds? Apologies, although I understand the basic concept of how magnetic pickups work, I don't know enough to determine what effect the pole pieces being slightly out of line would be - if any!
