  1. Hi,

Up for sale what was my trusty gigging amp, a Taurus Qube 450. 450W @ 4 ohms, 350W @ 8 ohms. From Polish manufacturer Taurus, these amps are not very often seen but one of the better class D amps I've tried. A quick google search will bring up some great reviews of these. Plenty of punch, analog preamp, and the EQ is really intuitive. I've been in two minds whether to sell this or not, but it's not being used since I stopped gigging a while ago and an impending house move means I'm unfortunately having to get rid of things I don't really want to!

Unfortunately I no longer have the original box for this, but will be shipped securely and well packaged. The price is £280 including courier.

Some blurb from the Taurus website:

Taurus Qube - 450 bass head is the smallest and the lightest bass amplifier in Taurus' amps line. The compact size of the head is attained by applying the newest, most advanced technology. The SMPS (Switching Mode Power Supply) power supply and Class D power amplifier in conjuction with classic analog preamp provide great efficency, power, dynamics and sound selectivity. As all Taurus amps, the Qube - 450 is very easy to operate. The MLO system equalization control achieves easy and intuitive tailored sound. This sound correction simplifies finding the right tone colour of the instrument.

    MLO System

The "MLO" (Mid Level Optimization) is Taurus proprietary system allowing for an easy, intuitive and extremely comfortable optimization of the overall sound of the bass guitar.

The MLO System provides all new possibilities. It ensures most accurate proportion of medium frequencies in accordance of your manual settings of bass and trebles. This very intuitive and logical system supports musician's choice for most desirable sound.

In addition, the MLO equalizer ensures virtually no change in overall volume while changing the bass frequencies. Unlike most of the standard amps, adjusting bass frequency the musician notices change of the sound not the volume.

    Power output: 450W RMS / 4ohm , 300W RMS / 8ohm

  2. NOW SOLD

    Hi,

Bought this on a whim from eBay as I really fancied trying one. Lovely bass, made in Japan I believe somewhere between late ‘80s - early ‘90s. I believe there is a way to check with the serial number, alas I haven’t been able to find it. These retailed for quite a bit IIRC when new, the 2nd hand prices really don’t reflect the quality of these. Really well built instruments.

This is a 5 string SB310 range, it has a brass nut with quality Gotoh tuners, all original. In great condition other than a small mark at the back of the headstock (shown in pics). Other than this it’s in great condition, especially for its age. I haven’t done anything to it except play it since I bought it so could probably do with a fresh set of strings of your preference and a set up. Comes with used but perfectly usable hard case.

Reason for sale is that it’s just not getting played, don’t think the Mrs is very happy with it being bought and just sat there! Don’t want to make anything on this of course, I bought it for £250 including postage but happy to take £225 posted. EDIT: now £215 posted.

Any questions, please ask via PM.

    Cheers!

  3. Hi, yes I did the pickup work myself. No modifications necessary to the body as the dimensions are exactly the same as the original Hz pickups. The preamp is the older style BQC, I emailed EMG to confirm this is the same as the newer style “quik connect” system, but soldered connections all round. The pickups were brand new and do have the “quik connect” connections - so I used the connectors that came with the pickups instead of the original input wires on the preamp. The idea for this was so if I decided after the pickups were installed I wanted them the other way around, they are much easier to swap :) also worth mentioning, configuration of knobs is volume/volume with a stacked knob for treble/bass and another for mid cut or boost/sweepable mid frequency. Any other questions let me know! Thanks

  4. Hi guys,

Unfortunately as we all know life gets in the way sometimes and I’m giving up playing for a while. New car acquisition and general family expenses means I’m (reluctantly) selling my last remaining bass, as could really do with the cash at the moment!

2013ish Spector Rebop DLX 5 string in cherry red. I took out the rather bland passive EMG Hz pickups and replaced them with an active EMG 40DC in the bridge position, and an active EMG 40CS in the neck. I’ve also replaced the original tone pump pre with an EMG BQC system wired at 18v. The original pot covers were a little plasticky looking, so I replaced those as well with some rather fetching black metal ones. All in all I’ve spent around £230 in upgrades I think, well worth the money in my opinion - sounds fantastic.

In great condition, neck plays like a dream. I’ll be sorry to see it go, but she’s too nice an instrument to be sat in a case unplayed.

Can pick up in person if you’d like a cup of tea and a play - only have access to my little practice amp at home though. Alternatively I’d be willing to meet you halfway within reason. There’s also the option of a courier - this isn’t included in the price above.

Having camera issues momentarily! But pics to follow shortly.

    Thanks for looking!

[UPDATE] My camera is not working so phone pics will have to do for now I’m afraid. If you’d like any more, PM me and I will send you some. Thanks!

  5. Recently acquired an old EMG BQA (from what I can gather from the board) internal preamp, but got no clue where to start wiring it! I foolishly assumed it would be similar to the new BQC as its functionality is the same (vol/blend/stacked bass + treble/stacked sweepable mid) but now I've got it in front of me I can't make heads or tails of it. Any wiring diagrams out there? Have googled extensively and come up with diddly squat. Hope someone can help!

  6. Hi all,

After a few inquiries about couriering a bass overseas I've been left a bit confused! Earlier this month I contacted Ishibashi in Japan about importing a bass, and they (very quickly) replied stating that due to new CITES regulations they couldn't ship guitars/basses overseas containing Rosewood, as they had to apply for an export license to cover this.

I'm asking because I have some interest from the US about a bass I have in the for sale section at the moment (shameless plug - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/301771-ft-warwick-streamer-jazzman-lx-5-string/page__p__3252685__hl__warwick%20streamer%20jazzman__fromsearch__1#entry3252685 ) and various international couriers have warned me that this bass may contain some woods which fall under CITES regulations - even though it was manufactured long before these came into effect (January this year I believe) and contains no Rosewood. Just wondering if anyone else has had any issues exporting or importing in the last few months, or if you could shed any more light on the matter because it's all getting a bit.... confusing! Starting to remember why I never sell to overseas buyers!

Any info would be appreciated guys. Cheers!

  7. ****NOW SOLD****

Just putting the feelers out there. It's a stunning bass, all the Warwick growl you'd expect - just fancy a change (I have these silly ideas now and again!)

5 string, Made in Germany in 2003. Streamer shape swamp ash/AA flamed maple body, nirvana black (dark grey) natural oil finish, ovangkol neck, wenge fretboard, bell brass frets, Warwick 3D 2 piece bridge, Warwick Just-A-Nut 3. MEC humbucker and single coil pickups, MEC 3 band active preamp with series humbucker/ single coil/ parallel humbucker 3-way switch for the bridge pickup. Looks the part, plays and sounds great - cutting through the mix is never an issue! This was my main gigging bass and has a few small dents and marks but nothing major, generally in great condition.

Includes Warwick Rockcase hard case, and Warwick User Kit - user manual, cleaning cloth, full pot of wax and all Allen keys included in this. Plus Warwick strap with Schaller strap locks. Also have original tags with serial numbers etc.

Located in Bridlington, East Yorkshire but willing to travel within reason.

Open to ideas for trades, I'm more of a Spector man than a Warwick one but anything considered really. Try me!

Will upload pics when not posting from my phone!

EDIT: Added more pics this morning.

  8. Stew bought a Marcus Miller V7 from me before Christmas. Great communications throughout, quick payment, and all in all a lovely chap. A pleasant, easy transaction! Would happily do business with again.

Glad "Marcus" has found a good home!

    Many thanks!
