  1. I bought a book + CD from Mick. Very smooth transaction, dispatched quickly, items in excellent condition. Thank you.
  2. I saw this, which says that he will retire after the current FTJ tour, is that right? Or has he already retired? https://modernistsociety.blogspot.com/2025/01/bruce-foxton-to-leave-from-jam-after.html?m=1
  3. I don’t use one but how often do you need to adjust the height and why? When you install it and look for the “perfect spot”? Every now and then? Between songs (comfort, ease of access etc)?
  4. These hardly ever come up for sale. I love mine. Out of curiosity @J66Bass why did you upgrade the bridge pickup?
  5. I think that may be a 40th anniversary vintage model, because of the aged nickel hardware. I have a Dakota red one and it is a great bass, very well made, very nice to play.
  6. There will always be that guy who rests their cheeks on the headstock to make casual conversation with the cook and cause serious neck dive.
  7. Is that a mod you made? I have an MIA standard with the PJ configuration.
  8. As @LeftyJ touched upon, it can be an active bass. It also has a series/parallel switch. And, I guess, a kill switch (which can easily unintentionally be activated 😅). These I would say are above what a standard jazz can do. On the things that are different, and perhaps less that a jazz can do: it only has a master volume and a master tone - and switch to turn on or off each pick up. So no VVT and no blending.
  9. I think it is 16 years since the last album. Maybe 32 since the last good one 😂 I love the Cure. I was lucky to be at the Troxy for the launch gig.
  10. I documented changing the pickups on my Dean Stylist semi here: https://diaryofabassguitar.wordpress.com/2013/04/04/new-pickups/
  11. I’d be interested in the sight reading book.
  12. It looks really good 👍
  13. I may finally buy a bass VI!
  14. The linked manual if for a guitar with humbuckers (3 switches). On the bass (2 switches) I believe it is a series/parallel toggle.
  15. I think it’s this one. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/LA-Select-Bass-Guitar-by-Gear4music-Denim-Burst/3L4K
  16. I am not in London this weekend and will miss that. Enjoy!
  17. There is an old Basschat thread here: With a link to: https://westoneguitars.net/basses/thunder/ (red bass further down). Has the same bridge but a single switch.
  18. Same reason for Dyson - I now have a Shark and very happy with it. Same reason for Tate & Lyle - I try to always buy beet sugar (but it’s difficult!).
  19. There is a thread about them on here.
  20. Yes it does. Takes 4 of them.
  21. I guess being foot operated means no need to touch germ infested buttons. Also, obviously, you can keep playing your bass while pouring yourself a refreshing drink.
  22. Yes, could be EHX without the control knobs - just on or off.
  23. Seen in the second hand section. I think some kind of reverb, maybe an early prototype but I was not able to try it. Both pedals are connected to the water cooling tower in the middle - I assume it means it runs really hot.
