  1. Is that a mod you made? I have an MIA standard with the PJ configuration.
  2. As @LeftyJ touched upon, it can be an active bass. It also has a series/parallel switch. And, I guess, a kill switch (which can easily unintentionally be activated 😅). These I would say are above what a standard jazz can do. On the things that are different, and perhaps less that a jazz can do: it only has a master volume and a master tone - and switch to turn on or off each pick up. So no VVT and no blending.
  3. I think it is 16 years since the last album. Maybe 32 since the last good one 😂 I love the Cure. I was lucky to be at the Troxy for the launch gig.
  4. I documented changing the pickups on my Dean Stylist semi here: https://diaryofabassguitar.wordpress.com/2013/04/04/new-pickups/
  5. I’d be interested in the sight reading book.
  6. It looks really good 👍
  7. I may finally buy a bass VI!
  8. The linked manual if for a guitar with humbuckers (3 switches). On the bass (2 switches) I believe it is a series/parallel toggle.
  9. I think it’s this one. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/LA-Select-Bass-Guitar-by-Gear4music-Denim-Burst/3L4K
  10. I am not in London this weekend and will miss that. Enjoy!
  11. There is an old Basschat thread here: With a link to: https://westoneguitars.net/basses/thunder/ (red bass further down). Has the same bridge but a single switch.
  12. Same reason for Dyson - I now have a Shark and very happy with it. Same reason for Tate & Lyle - I try to always buy beet sugar (but it’s difficult!).
  13. There is a thread about them on here.
  14. Yes it does. Takes 4 of them.
  15. I guess being foot operated means no need to touch germ infested buttons. Also, obviously, you can keep playing your bass while pouring yourself a refreshing drink.
  16. Yes, could be EHX without the control knobs - just on or off.
  17. Seen in the second hand section. I think some kind of reverb, maybe an early prototype but I was not able to try it. Both pedals are connected to the water cooling tower in the middle - I assume it means it runs really hot.
  18. Do we know why? Was round back a special option at the time? Or McCartney remembered it being flat?
  19. Tap on the OP’s avatar, then on the envelope icon.
  20. Does it need its own ticket on the tube?
  21. Thanks! So these 50th anniversary instruments were not special/limited editions like the 40th anniversary ones are?
  22. @Dazed are you looking for something that looks like a wide range? Sounds like one? For something a bit different, I have a pair of humbuckers from a DeArmond Starfire, which I think are of a similar size - way too big for what I originally bought them for anyway. I have been looking for a solid body to drop them in (a tele bass most likely)- what are your plans for the body? Anyway, maybe some alternatives there with Guild/DeArmond humbuckers.
  23. Looks like it was for Fender’s 50th and they invited Squier to the party
  24. There definitely are 50th anniversary Squier, such as this one on Reverb. But looking at the sticker on the back of the headstock, it is celebrating Fender’s 50th. https://reverb.com/item/37278507-1996-squier-precision-fender-50th-anniversary-p-bass
  25. Thank you. So the 40th anniversary is for becoming a brand in 1982. What was the 50th anniversary for? What happened in 1946?
