  1. These hardly ever come up for sale. Great, very versatile basses. GLWTS.
  2. I was there too! Student in Bristol (on international exchange) and that was the only place that still had tickets for that tour. A local music shop organised a bus+ticket combo and off we went. Great gig! Great memories! I have seen them many times since and I was at Wembley Arena last night too.
  3. I never saw The Ely Plains but my partner remembers the Lock Tavern gig fondly. We were good friends of Jan.
  4. Serial number: 2512 Stollen… (I miss the bad jokes thread)
  5. Ignore me.
  6. Is the EU purchasing programme a fiasco? I didn’t think so, I didn’t see anything about that. The rollout for sure is and has been handled much better in the UK. I remember reading that the UK buys each dose of Pfizer vaccine for 28 (euros or GBP) whereas the EU buys them for 18 (euros or GBP) - economy of scale.
  7. Agreed. The UK will need to loosen their strict 30 days rule for this particular scenario. Given the value of the music industry, and with a bit of lobbying (as you mentioned previously), it should be possible.
  8. It doesn’t seem this way. The EU offered a “standard” exemption for 90 days, both ways. The UK said it can only be 30 days (certainly for EU performers coming this way). The EU said “90 days or nothing”. The UK said “nothing then”. End if negotiations.
  9. I’ll take it. PM incoming.
  10. Why do you think the controls are at the back? Maybe it’s a leftie? And the, erm... strings... are at the back.
  11. I use a DOD Bass Stereo Flanger FX72. I haven’t tried many, got that one and loved it. I use it at the end of the chain after distortion/fuzz for some Cure like numbers and general messing about.
  12. The word itself is derogatory indeed.it does however bring a very specific sound to my head and that is the sound of Neu! and Stereolab.
  13. Welcome Mark. I am technically in Leicestershire but really in Nottinghamshire. Enjoy Basschat and the support it can offer when learning.
  14. I have the DOD Bass Stereo Flanger FX72 as well, no unwanted swoosh on mine - except when I use a single coil bass with the treble a bit high - I think the noise from the pickup is what gets into the flanger (when it’s on).
  15. Enter the bridge in the Feb photo competition!
  16. I like Paul Wolf. He really helped me out when I was starting out and had to learn songs fast. His videos really focus on teaching the songs, not him showing off.
  17. I am a bit old school when it comes to education and I like the idea of someone being there and explaining/answering questions. But yes, I could buy some parts and experiment as you say. And take my time
  18. Has anybody else seen the advert below on Facebook? This company (Anasound) are running a workshop where you build your own pedal, with some theory and people at hand to help and demonstrate how it’s done properly (soldering, testing etc.). I think it is a fantastic idea, but unfortunately in Birmingham. Does anyone know of anything similar in London? Soldering for musical equipment (pedals, but also pickups, pots, harnesses etc)? https://anasounds.com/produit/sliver-tremolo-masterclass-birmingham-02-29-or-03-01/?fbclid=IwAR0_gVwTc0bLxnVhY9Ve1Y3aCTskRg4PhfwXDTuIkRGU2AFYNHi6ZW9O7mE
  19. Alice - Sisters of Mercy In Between Days- The Cure Who Killed Mr Moonlight - Bauhaus (although really it would be more representative to pick 3 albums)
  20. Drive by Screaming 😱
  21. Yes, I saw that. It is a very cool idea!
