  1. Just the one, 2008 Fender USA Jazz. Lovely bass :-)
  2. Btw, is it a maple or rosewood fretboard? Personally I'd be a bit wary of doing a defret myself in case I messed it up.
  3. You could buy a fretless P neck and sell on your MIM neck.
  4. Bought a P bass body from Twincam. Arrived today via Royal Mail, securely packaged and exactly as described. Excellent communication throughout, couldn't be happier. You can buy with confidence from this Basschatter
  5. It's only meant to be a 10 string bass looking at the bridge. Is he havin a laff?
  6. Any chance of a few pictures?
  7. Now you wanted to pass on that K20b ...
  8. Your right. That's blummin' lovely :-)
  9. Good news. Will expect pictures of course 😉
  10. This happened to me. Won the bidding on a Hohner Jack and paid for it. Been after one for years so was really excited. Time please passed, didn't return my messages. Only heard from him after I opened a case with eBay. By then I'd had enough so asked for my money back. Prob for the best really :-( that's what I keep telling myself anyway
  11. What a lovely looking bass. Wish I had the money. GLWTS
  12. Same here, had one of these as my first bass back on 1980. Cost £49 iirc.
  13. That looks lovely. Got to be one of my favourite colours. Wish I had £850, but then I'd probably need to find somewhere to live ...
  14. Got the chance of a brand new one of the above at a really good price and wondered what they were like. Any experiences? Cheers
  15. I like their website - they've got 9 different ranges of bass and 2 guitars. They've got their priorities right!
  16. Hi, is it the USB version by any chance?
  17. Mmmmm. Pink? Almost tempted but sounds too good to be true
  18. Got a photo? Is it the I, II, or III?
  19. I'm intrigued. Can we have a picture?
  20. Is that Music Room in Vic Centre? Tried one in there before Christmas. Not set up that well tbh, puts you off buying from them. Didn't notice the dodgy label, but then it is short scale compared to a double bass ...
  21. I shall be watching your progress with interest. Like you, I'm looking to build from scratch, but I have got a few power tools to hand, inherited when my Dad passed away end of last year. I'm finding it a bit of a daunting prospect, tbh, but I've got a stack of free wood (much of it also from my Dad) which I plan to practice on without making expensive mistakes. In fact, I might post my own thread ...
  22. That's a good question. Been a while since I've done this sort of thing "in anger", in fact way too long, but i think it will depend a bit on the type of music you play. For straight up rock, say, you might be inclined to stick with the drummer, for jazz your rythmn might come together with the other band members at some point during the song ;-) So the norm would be the first option, with the second option more as and when the song requires it. But hey, I'm out of practice, as I said. *Stands back ready to be shot down in flames!!* Cheers, Russ
  23. for JPJ I'd have to say Black Dog or Dazed and Cinfused, and Sabbath I'd say Behind the Wall of Sleep, through the bass solo, to N.I.B. These are just for starters, of course, as every track from both is a gem!
  24. Heck! I've just measured my span from thumb to little finger - 8" at full stretch! You make me feel so inadequate ;-) I play a Jazz and a Ricky, and although I used to struggle with the P bass neck, I realise that was as much to do with neck finish as much as neck size. I can play Geddy Lee bass lines reasonably well but maybe I just work within my limitations. I doesn't need to hold you back, that's for sure. There's a long way between zero and the likes of Billy Sheehan or Jeff Berlin (or 101 other great bass players you could mention).
