1. Pino was credited on the I Asassin album and also toured the US in 1992 promoting it. Looking closer, it's not Pino though he looks similar.
2. Is that Pino with a blond mullet? I know he played on the album I Asassin, which is where this song is from but did he tour with Gary? Edit: quick look at 0:13.... thats definately Pino!
3. Definately NOT a Stingray and I don't recognise the shape. Maybe a Wal? I don't know..... it does have a Kahler whammy fitted though!
4. A tip I learned a while ago from a sound engineer. Buy about a dozen F to F couplers (or however many you need for the job) and one of those small hosepipe reels (DIY/Garden centre). Attach a spare jack to an old piece of cable and attach the other end to the reel. Then simply couple up the cables while winding the reel up. I do this to all my xlr cables (obviously don't need the couplers for this) and have only lost one joint in a year.
5.
ooops - sorry guys, my bad on the price - Don't have any idea what it's worth though...guessing £800 ish??? really not sure -
IMO I think you're bang on the money with that price. The 'root beer' colour was always one of my favourite LE's too. Good luck with the sale.
6. New rules Matt, even if you're only thinking of selling you have to state a price. Nice bass, mind.
7. I find that a PG58 has more sensitivity that a SM58 and is also a bit more 'sparkely'. Having said that, they could be harder to control in a live setting.
8.
The bass is well out of warranty so no free repair unfortunately.
Are there any modifications at all? If not then warranties ain't worth Jack.... the goods sold to you have to be 'fit for purpose' for a certain period of time usually far exceeding the warranty. Contact the manufacturer direct. They may well be aware of the issue and sort it FOC (apart from courier costs of course). Their product and trading reputation demands this action.
9. More owners than The Littlest Hobo!! GREAT cab.... have a bump on me Pete!
10.
Hey Guys Bruce's Bass tech is a personal friend of mine. I spoke to Paul about the gear Bruce was using. If i remember rightly he had 2 Ampeg Heads with an 8x10 when they started with FTJ (Originally The Gift) After touring the Ampegs, they became unreliable. Constantly back at the repairers (Possibly Ampeg UK?) They needed something more reliable so went to Marshall. I believe he tried the VBA, MB and possibly an 800 through various cabs and decided on the VBA400 with two 4x12s. He also tours with a spare VBA400 (just incase) The only other gear you need is the 57 Vintage P-Bass, Rotosound RS66LD Strings and Rotosound 0.96mm Triangle Picks!
When I mentioned Edd, I mean't the FOH engineer. My mistake. Is Paul the short (in height) dark shoulder length haired fella who looks like he smoked a heavy spliff in the 70's and has only just come back round?
11. Throw him an email and ask him through his official site. He's a very very approachable guy who I've met a couple of times.... the last time when we supported FTJ in December 08. I'm sure he'd love to give you a heads up. Whilst your doing that, point him in the direction of this site. I remember mentioning it to him at the gig and he seemed very enthusiastic about checking it out. You never know..... he may be lurking! His sound guy by the way is a chap called Edd Higdon who I'm good friends with (no.... it's NOT how we got the gig!!). He runs a sound production company called CSS Pro or something, based in Poole. This is us with Bruce after the Dec gig
12. No-one mentioned 'Mad' Mikey Anthony from 'Live Without A Net' yet?
13. I ordered a 'heavy relic' union jack PM4 from Sandberg. I'm really pleased with the outcome and don't think it looks naff at all. Anyone who has ever seen the bass first hand have also commented positively. Horses for courses I suppose.
14. Also did a trade with Pete recently... top man to deal with!
15. There's a centre indent feel on my 'Ray. Not sure about the Subs.
16. Absolute steal!!!!!
17.
There is an Eagles tribute band going around called the Illegal Eagles. Their bass player is pretty damned hot. Looks remarkably like Pino P, too.
Chris Childs. Also the bassist for THUNDER no less (or WAS, until they split again last year)!! Superb musician and really nice guy to boot! He's now working with Luke Morley and Pete Shoulder in their new band The Union and has started his own Eagles tribute called Ultimate Eagles.
18.
Now me, I thought this would be a thread about psychiatry.
Don't let your ego run away with you Mr Freud!!
19. Move along people.... nothing to see here. Go about your business...
20. Ooh... wirey goodies! PM'ed.
21. Bass Merchant is the only dedicated store I have used and can't fault it at all. Darren is a pleasure to deal with and makes you feel welcome like an old friend.
22. I'm shocked Jim.... did you not get on with it or something?
23. Bon Scott. There was no other band that could touch AC/DC for me and I remember watching them performing Touch Too Much on TOTP's about five weeks before he died. Read about it on 20th February 1980 on a tiny column on page five of the Sun. Felt gutted because I thought they were going to take over the world, which of course they did with BJ. However, for me they lost a certain spark in their music and lyrical wit which they have never replaced. When I move to Perth I'm taking a day out to Fremantle cemetary to pay my respects.
