And to Tomboy , yes he is noodling along the lines of a solo he performed quite a lot but changed it on the hoof and it sure sounds like the audience were with him.
Of course they were with him... kind of preaching to the converted. I'm not saying he's not talented... just heard better examples, thats all.

I think you've missed the point of this thread GK... we were asked to comment on this particular clip so my comments were based on how I found this clip and how it 'moved' me... which wasn't very much. Of course I'm very aware that Jaco was one of the most influencial bass players and indeed musicians to have ever lived. I've listened to lots of his work and truely admire his technique and talent. All I stated was that it doesn't move me. And IMO this clip is a very poor example of his talent.
he was coming up with this stuff on the hoof.
IMO... that means 'noodling'. When he bursts into that overdriven bit, if you close your eyes it sounds like he fell over and struggled to get back up! I've heard him play much better than this clip and based on that comment I can admire his raw talent.. just does nothing for me.

So am I! I honestly thought it was one of those Jaco 'Shreds' videos until I read the comments.

Played Norwich UEA with 'From The Jam' Friday night. Great fun and the headline act were four decent fellas. Bruce Foxton is a legend to me and seemed a little embarrassed when I told him that. Anyway, Sandberg PM4 D.I'ed into FOH and my TA503 rig used for backline with monitor foldback. Sound on stage was crystal clear. Apparently it was awesome out front too. Couple of piccies.
Yep, sort of slot down the middle.
Plenty of lube though!

Why don't you google it? (Sorry Rich.... bit of an in-joke round here at the moment! Welcome to the madness and enjoy BC.) Now a serious answer to your question and this might sounds a little stupid... have you contacted Spector themselves? If not Cetera (a BC member) is a spector endorsee and might be able to help you. Try dropping him a pm. Cheers, Jamie
Jaime, I'm coming round when this is done.
f***ing hope not... look what happened to Boy George!! "Quick check before I go out... Electrics off - check Windows locked - check Cat fed and watered - check Rentboy chained to wall - check!"

Began the internal stud walls today.... Hint taken about the parrallel walls. I also have to contend with a vaulted ceiling!! I'm going to seek advice from the Sound On Sound forum for the best method to combat these potential problems. More updates after the weekend.

Any advice on acoustics would be most welcome. Although we will mostly be recording digitally including drums (Roland TD20) we may well do some acoustic/analogue (sp?) stuff. The drum/vocal room will measure approximately 2m x 3m, corridor 1m x 2m and the live/mixing room 4m x 4m. There will be an internal double sealed unit window between the vocal booth and the mixing room for visual cues etc. Forgot to add... floating wooden floors throughout, recessed lighting and a stella fridge!!

Well, if I end up crap at recording music I'll give you a shout... don't forget the gimp mask and golden syrup!!

When Mrs Tombboy and I moved house last year, one of the selling points for buying the place was a bloody great big outbuilding in the garden (6.5m x 4m). I've always wanted my own recording facility and envisaged this as the perfect place. Only trouble was, is was almost falling down and needed an awful lot of work. Undeterred I went ahead and purchased all the recording gear (Mac G4 running pro-logic, Mackie 24-8 desk, racks of effects, Mackie monitors, Neumanns mic and bollock loads of leads etc) and had it put in storage until we got round to starting the build. Essentially a blockwork base with wooden structure under a tiled roof (some RSJ's to support the whole structure), I drew an initial plan... Small corridor leading to a drum/vocal room then another room for the live mixing, overdubbing etc. This is the internal before any work was done: We then cleaned it our for my 40th birthday and it looked like this: Just started the work needed this week. So far we have treated the concrete floor, put in a damproof membrane, removed the gable end (rotted) and started to replace this. Replaced the door and purchased the new windows.: The internal stud work should be completed tomorrow, then we crack on and insulate the dry walls. Its been fun, but a little chilly!! More updates when we make progress!

Lovely bass! Wish I had the money... +1 to what Graeme said about the mutes. You'd have to sell the 2005 as the bridge is different. Off the top of my head you'd need a 'pre-flea' - bridge with the thumbscrews and mute springs. If you find one but without the mute pads then any old neoprene mouse pad material would serve you well. Just cut to size and glue in place.

An original scorpion. My brother had the six string version of this many years ago and apart from a little neck dive, it sounded awsome! Personally I find it fugly and would never buy one.

Never thought of a 'stealth tax' being announced! Now you mention it, it's quite funny!
-
Another stealth tax announced today. Although they have cut the vat on petrol to 15% they have put an extra 2p on 'fuel duty' (currently stands at 50.35p per litre). The 15% is then levied on top. I may be wrong but that doesn't that mean we are still going to be paying more for our petrol? Lets just say for example that a litre of petrol without vat but with the fuel duty is 75p per litre... add current vat @17.5% and you pay 88.12p per litre. Now add the 2p fuel duty (77p) then add 15% (vat) and that gives you 88.55p!!!
I've found this is usually the remark of a noobie guitarist.
Absolutely.... My brother is a VERY accomplished guitarist of about 30 years standing now. Grew up learning Clapton, Young, Van Halen etc whilst developing his own style. He can wipe the floor with most guitarists that I know. Now when he picks up the bass he wipes the floor with me!! Probably because I never had the patience to practise and the raw talent to begin with. However, when he hears me play he says that I can 'feel' the song much better than him. It's not about how dextruous or flash you can be... it's about how you can 'feel'. I hope I've explained that so you can understand....
the furniture ombudsman.
Christ... is there one for everything? I can imagine a tower block full of these little Ombudsmen sitting around waiting for phones to ring, like a tribe of pigmys or something.... -

Kev, in Robs defence, I think when you have put in the hours and effort he has on a subject that has dominated Basschat like this...then someone asks a question which has been covered in both threads to hell and back whilst Rob has been re-iterating the point of diplomacy... the use of four capital letters is quite justified without the witty retort. I hope when you spent the next eight hours reading the relevant threads you will see why. -
Gotta love Western Union Money Transfer!! Every time I see the acronym W.U.M.T. I think S.C.A.M.

Boudica! No... he serious!!!
