1. Got this............ Want to swap for this.......... Or even the V string version.......... ain't fussy. Any Van Halen tribute players out there? I bought the bass brand new from CH Guitars on ebay for £280.00 about 8 weeks ago and have never played it. Just had it hanging on my wall. Need a very slim/small bass to grab for rehearsals so a Hohner would be ideal. Any takers?
2. Still around Mr C! Yeah, sold mine a few months ago to Graeme who I think still has the original erection!!! Regret the sale but glad it's being loved. There is a '77 natural 'B00' on the uk bay finishing tonight.... just £800 at the mo. If it stays under a grand I might be tempted!!
3. Personally, I love it! However, they are half that price in the US which makes me think that it is a bit of a rip off.... and I'm an EB fan!!
4.
if I tweak the volume on stage, will it affect the front of house because of the lack of DI control? Anyways, just after some friendly advice as to what you knowlegable people know about either amp and which you think is the best for the money. Cheers..... Mario.
Shouldn't do if you tweak the master volume. Don't touch the gain though. The DI is post gain and (switchable) eq, pre master.
5.
Geert de Maesschalck from Belgium ladies and gentleman..a unbelievable fantastic bass player, a very nice person, great sence of humor with a small hoeksken af !!
Ooh! There are various creams and vacumn devices available on the internet which might help... apparently!!
6. The DI on all MB amps is post eq and gain control. As long as you avoid over clipping then the level should be set just fine.
7. The fella knows he can get more for it on the 'bay or what not... but he's offered it to me for that price, knowing I'll look after it. There'd be no question of me selling it on to make a quick profit.... that would be taking the piss out of my mate's generosity. The dilemma is, do I buy it at a bargain price knowing I'm getting a bargain and persevere with it, or let it go to another for a bigger price but knowing it'll get played more? ARRGGH!!
8. This is really a bit of a no-brainer but I'm still unsure. Basically I have been offered a mint (and when I say mint... I mean 10/10!!) Ric 4003 in fireglow. Five years old but hardly out of the case. NEVER been gigged just very occasional studio use. I've played it and it's a stunner!! The current owner's daughter needs a new violin so this has to go to finance it. Basically the bass, the case and all the paraphenalia that goes with it for £730.00 Now, I know it's a bargain but I'm a 'Ray man through and through. Although I have a huge appreciation for Rics and find them very asthetic on the eye, they are uncomfortable for me to play after the contoured shape of the Stingray. I could probably dial in the sound I need and it would suit the image for our band (Mod type music) but is it going to get the usage it deserves? I have a month to mull it over.... what do you guys think?
9.
As the title. About three months old. Selling due to going back to pedals. Immaculate condition, sorry no box but would package it well in a donor box.
How much for the donor? And can I have chilli sauce? (Sorry, not much help, am I? Good luck with the sale!)
10.
I really wanted to go to that, then i realised it was the same weekend as download, AND the ernie ball musicman bass bash! dammit!!! Why couldn't they have been 3 consecutive weekends? or the bass bash and the guitar show have been the same weekend but a different one to download? bah
Erm.... the Ernie Ball UK Knuckleheads Bash is at the London Guitar Show on the Saturday. I'll be there!
11.
bear with me (i am caked in Mud)
You brought a bear home from a music festival? Jesus.... I'm getting old!
12.
+1 for enjoy it! there will be nerves but i tell you what, there is no greater joy than being on stage
Erm... yes there is, but this is a family forum! Unless you happen to be on stage enjoying the greater joy!?! No... wait... THAT would be terrifying!!!
13. Don't forget.... in the first part of the verse, in the 8th bar it's 'A' instead of 'C'! Alway caught me out there!! Ditto with the have fun.. if you have the song nailed, try not to watch your fretboard unless you have to. Look out over the audiences heads and use your best 'sex face'!! Good luck and let us know how it goes!
14.
Marshall mk 1 JTM 45 with a 3 figure serial number, I sold it for a tenner in the early 80s, I am still kicking myself
My brother recently sold one (not a mk1 but a plexi) for £2.7k
15.
Krist Novoselić, nuff said.
OUCH!!
16. Yep. Done it for me! Really class song. From a production viewpoint, the vocal could sit a little further forward in the mix, especially on the chorus. Maybe it's just my ears though.
17. Loved it Chris! When we hooking up again for some gigs then?
18. If you're not gigging yourself, pop in, wander over and have a beer!!
19. Dora The Explorer... When The Map makes his entrance, he does so over a great walking bass line! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILrwQG5Typ8
20. Yep... with the rope round his neck!! Sorry Sean... couldn't resist!
21.
Hehehe wicked!! Im off to the same producers in a bit to lay some 'B' down on some fresh stuff. If he gives me any of my others nuggets im on i will post if they are good enough! So Tomboy are you a teacher?
Sort of... I own and run a children's home for kids with mental health problems and emotional, behavioural disorders. They thought I was mad?
22.
I can appreciate that its not perhaps to everyone's taste but I think it's really cool. Its just the sort of thing that if I had the money at the time I would buy as a fun present for Tinman to hang on the wall of our spare room (his music room) Nice find Tombboy!
Absolutely.... I'm love my JD and this will hang lovely in my new studio!! On a gable end wall too.... pride of place!!!!
23.
haha sweet! how much was it if you don't mind me asking? The MM pickup is cool too, if it's not an EB one try and get one then it will look and sound sweet
£280.00. Only that price as someone underbid my maximum (by 0.52p) right at the death. He must have been sick not to win that one!! Not sure if it is a MM pickup, but I have an EBMM one spare so I might just have to whack that on if not. Should be delivered Tuesday so I'll take some porn and post it up.
24. I take it you play the 'Ray sitting down? Where are the straphooks man?
