I was going to use Pat Badger from Extreme as my example of good 'feel' and began a youtube search. Up popped this guy playing the bass for Cupid's Dead. Now, I hope he's one of us so that I can bestow my kudos upon him.... not for the fact that it is difficult (far from it for a compentent player), but more because he just 'feels' the song and he gets it spot on. Splendid stuff!!
Yeah, but eBay has a slightly bigger reach than even Basschat I considered having that amp, but the weight (49lb according to Googling) has put me right off (curse my middle aged back). Also toyed with the idea of the subs, but can't find any info about them (or certainly for the ones that look like the pic you posted, anyway).
The subs are quite lightweight (for subs, anyway!!). I'll have a root about and try to get some information for you. You're right about the amp though.... I had two of these in an 8U mixer case with some other units. Could barely lift it!!! -
Nice stuff Andy, enjoyed that a lot! Rare as hen's teeth though, singers with that sort of range. Personally I'd love to do a Journey tribute.
You really ought to have put those up separately rather than as a bundle on eBay - I'm sure you'd get more interest that way.
Good point Richard.... I'll have a think about that if the auction doesn't get any sniffs. TBH, I had them on here separately at good prices and no-one bit. -
Why what happened there then ?
FTJ had quite a hardcore following since Rick and Russell (along with Dave Moore) were known as The Gift and playing pubs etc. Bruce joined, changed their name to 'From The Jam' and the bigger gigs came. Dave left (start of something) and then Rick suddenly announced his departure. Two weeks later, a new forum and webiste were constructed and announced without so much as a 'by your leave' to the old admin team and fans who had been with them since day one. Hung out to dry basically. Totally FTJ's perogative, I know that, but manners and decorum don't cost anything... lack them them costed a lot of fans. -

Just remember too that warranties (or lack of) do not mean that you have to pay for repairs. All consumer goods sold must be 'fit for purpose' for their expected lifetime. If components have failed within a 'reasonable' time period, regardless of warranty, you have the right to challenge the manufacturer to make good. Your first port of call should be the Markbass website and contact Peter Murray.
He rang the shop where i work a couple of days ago, he is currently writing new material with From the Jam! Cool!
Is that the material he's been 'currently writing' for the last three years which has consisted of one song (not written by Foxton and written in 2008) called Later Day? -
OK, I'll try this here first for a week, if no interest, it'll get whacked on the bay. Full Roland/Hart Dynamics electronic drum kit for sale. First off: Roland TD-20 brain. THE Rolls Royce of electronic drum modules. This is an American spec model, 110 volts but I will include the professional heavey duty 'step down' transformer in the sale. Blurb from the Roland site..... Without a doubt, the TD-20 is Roland’s best percussion sound module to date, offering the ultimate sonic quality, over 500 new sounds, plus superb expressiveness and dynamic range when used with PD-125BK/105BK V-Pads and VH-12 V-Hi-Hat. With the superior sensitivity, drummers can play more naturally and without having to adjust their playing technique. The TD-20 includes the ability to vary the rim shot and bass drum sounds depending on how you play, plus new interval control for better snare drum rolls and more realistic cymbal swells. Close your eyes. Listen to every articulation and sound being faithfully re-created until the moment your cymbal fades away, and you’ll swear this is a real acoustic set. TD-20: Percussion Sound Module More Info More Powerful V-Editing The TD-20 gives drummers even greater modelling power using Roland’s latest COSM technology. Vastly expanded for unlimited expression, the TD-20’s V-Editing starts from careful analysis of an entirely new set of drum sounds. The result captures every nuance of the real thing—including every moment of drum vibration and complete customisation capabilities. For example, drummers can now select from several types of kick beaters including felt, wood and plastic. The cymbal size can also be changed, along with the type of “sizzle” (i.e. rivets or chain), and the microphone position. The TD-20 even lets drummers add realistic snare drum “buzz” (the resonance created on the tom and bass drum) that matches the type of snare drum selected. It’s the subtle nuances like these that really make the difference during performance and recording. Enhanced Performance Features Whether used live or in the studio, the TD-20 offers a host of powerful features designed to make life easy. Eight group faders are provided for adjusting the relative levels of each part (snare, kick, hi-hat, etc.), while 15 individual compressors and EQs let you sculpt each sound to perfection. The TD-20 also includes a 5-part sequencer loaded with preset backing patterns and plenty of room for your own—plus onboard Ambience effects, a stellar multi-effects processor and more. A new Mastering Room lets you add compression and EQ on the overall sound, while 10 analogue outputs and a S/DPIF digital output give drummers plenty of options when mixing live or in the studio. Convenient CompactFlash Storage and More New to the TD-20 is a CompactFlash slot, which can be used for storing custom drum kits and sequencer patterns with optional memory cards. An expansion bay located on the underside means there’s room for upgrades down the road. The TD-20 also features Roland’s V-LINK technology. Using an optional video editor from Edirol, drummers can trigger images or change cameras from the pads or kick. All the trigger and shells are manufactured by Hart Dynamics in the US and were specially imported. They are endorsed by a host of artists including Rick Allen (Def Leppard) and Tommy Lee (Motley Crue) and are widely recognised to be the leading edge in electronic drum triggers in the world. There has been some confusion as a result of Chris bumping this thread in an effort to move the '62 on (no big deal on my part). Can I just make it clear that I no longer own this bass. I traded with Chris a couple of weeks ago and he has since decided to move it on for reasons clearly explained by him in this thread. I have been offered a gorgeous trade for it too via PM!!! -

A close up of the rig above the drummer. Held up with three bits of string! Lots more information on the whole rig can be found here.

I've always paired my Markbass heads with MB cabs.... and yes, I have tried them with Bergs too. IMO, they're the best match for the heads.

Got bored this morning so took some more piccies of the rig and basses. From left to right: 1981 USA Fender Precision Special (an ex Beedster!). Burgundy. Note the tool fitted behind the body (his name isn't really Harry!). Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 1995, Vintage Sunburst. Fitted with a Bartolini pick-up.... this baby really screams!! Markbass TA 503 head with Alesis 3060 Compressor and Korg DT1000. Markbass 106HR Cabinet. Westone Thunder 1-A. First bass I owned. Sandberg California PM4 custom heavy relic. 'Dear Old Blighty'. Ovation Applause electro-acoustic bass with serious fret sprout (must get round to a re-fit soon!). [
