1. what is the weight of this?
2. both now sold pending payment
3.
Coming from a man who isn't that much of a fan of hollowbody or fretless basses, that is absolutely stunning. I'd love something like that myself. Liam
My thoughts exactly
4. wow, that looks absolutely stunning! very jealous.
5. ok, well, if you are doing this entirely for the resale value, then I would say don't bother, because you are unlikely to get serious money for a refin without the original headstock decal and no neck stamp. However, if you are doing it because you want to restore it and keep it as an instrument then go for it, because I'm sure it will be a fantastic bass once you are done!
6. personally, I wouldn't touch that with a barge pole. Any story about the neck stamp and decal being "sanded off" is suspect at best, and total bull at worst. Have you checked for a date stamp on the pots and things like that? My gut feeling is that you would be buying a cheap bass with some eBay vintage looking hardware on it.
7. it's also happening to me on safari 5.1.7 on my mac.
8.
That's interesting - so there's no intrinsic value in the age? Just street-cred and collectability?
Indeed. I think, (and I'm sure there will be people who disagree), that new Fenders are actually better instruments, but there seems to be that nostalgic spot in people for an instrument that was built 40 odd years ago.
9. Older Fenders are more expensive because they are seen to have value as collectors items. Personally, I would rather have my 2012 P and 2010 J than the 60s/70s/80s equivalent, but there are plenty of people who are prepared to pay the extra.
10.
One of my band mates recently commented that it was nice to have a "proper bassist" again since the guy I replaced was a guitarist-who-also-played-bass who allegedly played "too many notes" at times.
I have had that said to me in my last couple of bands, it is very nice to hear
11.
Boing! Thump! Boom! Twang! Womb! Burp! Honk! Pop! Slap! Ping! Splurt!
Sounds like a good night out to me ...anyway... I started out on P-basses, then had an affair with a jazz (very nice it was too, and I will always keep the bass), but as soon as I got my new P-bass, I realised what I had been missing.
12.
Eww! Get a room.
would yours be ok?
13.
I go all night baby
haha that's not what I've heard...
14. haha, I saw it aswell, but by the time I had found the pic I posted, it was gone
15.
Coffee all over keyboard moment
You have coffee at 2 am?!
16. it was quite a while ago, but he (and the band) used to promote an AIDS denialist group, which denied the link between HIV and AIDS, and advised pregnant woman not to take HIV meds, among other things. Thankfully they came to their senses.
17. and so it begins... haha
18. That is a gorgeous P bass Deb and deep down, you know the answer to everything taking three times as long is to just keep the P-bass and ditch everything else hehe. A P-bass really is all you need When I eventually get round to getting a decent camera, (or more likely, when my girlfriend gets back, so I can borrow hers ), I shall get some pics of my 2012 P-bass.
19. this is the main reason I stopped playing metal, I can't be dealing with anything lower than drop D. I still enjoying playing some metal that isn't in silly tunings, and am currently learning Hangar 18 by Megadeth, (and damn the bassline under the solos is hard, lol).
