1. Hey One of my suggestions would be Road to Ruin by Mr Big. It's very interesting to play, without being too strenuous on the right hand. I have a pdf of notation with tab if you need
2. Done Hope it goes well.
3.
Spend £100 or so on a Sansamp and you'll be good to go for ages, they tend to make rough amps sound better and give a DI that will do you well into professional levels.
This is exactly what I did for a couple of years with my old Ashdown EB-180 combo. It turned it from a wooly mess to a really nice sounding small amp.
4. Cheers guys and KB, I think that is really useful, thanks I might have to buy a set of Chromes when my strings die.
5.
By the way, I didn't mean to offend with this... I wasn't assuming you couldn't set it up yourself, just saw that you just took another bass to a shop, and they charge way too much IMHO...
That's a grand offer that is Definitely worth taking up.
6.
Yes I agree and I've just looked at your gear list . Great minds eh Jackers
Hehe, yep I am very happy with my gear list (even if the VT bass was bought on GAS fuelled whim after hearing it in some reviews ) You can't go far wrong with a P-bass in my opinion
7.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! How could you do this Highwayone ??????? I have practiced a new song, booked a lesson and even thought about COOKING tonight just to distract myself and then I come on here and see this? Too much promise on page 3 today . I will PM you ......
I say go for it and don't think about it too much Afterall more basses gives you more options of what to play (and shiny new things are always good )
8. Hey all I've just got my new P-bass and I have to say I'm tempted by flats. I like the sound I get out of my DR Sunbeams, but I hate how quickly they go dead with my sweating. The main thing I'm unsure about is whether the flats will do the aggressive/gritty edge I want for my sound, and if they do, how consistent that will be. From what I've heard flats don't die in the same way that rounds do. Some advice would be much appreciated
9.
[pic] You know you want it!
Phwoarrrrr!! That is gorgeous
10.
Jackers .... it's these darn P basses. . Glad you jumped in and made the right choice.
hehe, yep, there is just something about them. This one is 3TS/Rosewood, which is perfection in my eyes Besides, I always regretted selling my first Fender P-bass.
11. I recently had this with a USA P-bass. I gave in and it arrived today After playing it for the last hour I can easily say it was one of the best ideas I've ever had haha.
12. I think it is a case of practising I am currently teaching my girlfriend to play bass, and she is having the same issue, as she has small hands. When she first started she couldn't stretch from the 5th fret to the 7th fret using her index and little fingers, but now she can comfortably do it without thinking. Although, if after a while you find yourself really struggling, there is always the option of getting a short scale bass like a squier mustang and jaguar, which will be easier on your hands.
13. sounds great be sure to let us know when you get gigging!
14. congrats on getting the gig is it an originals or covers type band?
15. Just had a play around on it through my newly acquired rig, and my good does it sound good! this bass + the ampeg setting on my landmark is everything I could want in a bass tone.
16. Cheers guys It is seriously pretty, I can't stop looking at it. Looking forward to playing it later.
17. hehe, thanks Nick I have to say, I have always wanted to try flats, but I am not sure whether I could still get that gritty edge to my sound with them.
18. apologies for the double post. I have updated my first post with pics It is a gorgeous bass, and the pictures really don't do it justice.
19. it is here!! pics to follow shortly
20. Rich just bought a set of strings off me. He paid straight away and is a great guy to deal with. The strings will be on their way to you tomorrow
21. I bought these strings yesterday for an audition I have tomorrow evening, put them on today, but I didn't get on with them much. I took them straight off again and put my Lo-Riders back on. These have spent less than 30 mins on my bass, and I won't use them, (the E and A strings have been cut for a Fender Jazz), so if someone else would like them, then PM me. Shall we say £8 posted in the UK? Cheers
22. Thanks The pics will go straight up here as soon as I get hold of the bass, hehe

I bought Luke's VT Bass pedal from him this week. Great guy and a very smooth and easy transaction. The pedal is fantastic, thanks dude!
24. hehe I seriously can't wait for Tuesday. P-bass + Landmark 300 + my new EBS cabs is going to sound amazing
25. Well, apparently RRP is like £1450, but GAK, Andertons and PMT are doing it for £1121. He did the bass for £1100 and threw in the strings and cheap delivery. I know it isn't a massive amount off, but it was really nice to find someone in a shop that was friendly and actually seemed to have time for me for a change.
