I had an LH1000 and a hydrive 410 and it was a bloody brilliant combo! hehe. as has been said, it depends what you want from your setup. The LH1000 + hydrive 410 combination does give a nice tight low end, but do not think that means it lacks low end, because it definitely doesn't. Regarding the volume issue, I never had to turn my LH1000 past 9/10 o'clock and I got an earth-shakingly loud, clean sound from the cab. Unfortunately moving house meant there wasn't room for it anymore
If it can't be played on an instrument by a human being it ain't music then, is it?
Enjoy the responses you get for that comment
Space is also a 'note'. Space is paramount. Space is 'music'. Space is as essential a musical tool as any musical note. Make space your primary consideration. Think of space as oxygen, when it's not there you can't breathe, space helps music breathe. Make space the essence of your musical decisions. Here's an example of how I use space when I write a bass line. http://soundcloud.co.../you-always-did
That is an awesome bassline Nige! I love it. I definitely agree that learning when not to play notes is just as important as learning when to play them. I've been playing for about 10 years now, and it is only really in the last year or so that I've started to see that I'm actually fairly good at what I do (without meaning to sound arrogant lol, ofcourse there is plenty of room for improvement). I mean, I'm definitely not a massively technical player; I can't play slap or play at ridiculous speeds, but I'm pretty sure I can write a bassline that compliments a song, and makes it sound more complete. I mostly play in pop-punk bands, so I see my job as holding down the low end and rhythm while the guitar(s) play lead melodies, and every so often adding some cool little fills and runs. To me, the most important thing is to have fun when playing and practicing, cos if you aren't smiling when you have the bass in your hands, then what's the point

if it's a fender then it has to be either: -white, tort (or black) guard, maple fingerboard -shell pink, matching headstock, white guard -bright orange, matching headstock, white guard -natural, black guard, maple board, blocks on a stingray I would have to say teal with a maple board, and on a tbird it has to be white

if you are digging the abm sound but don't like carrying around the extra weight, then might I suggest the Ashdown MiBass. I am loving mine, and it's tone shaping ability is amazing, so many possibilities I would also recommend the Genz Shuttles and Streamliners, fantastic amps.

i would say 'Absolution' or 'Origin of Symmetry' as good introductions to Muse

I have just bought Shaun's Epiphone Thunderbird, and it is gorgeous Shaun is a great guy to deal with, very helpful and friendly. Thanks for the bass man!
I've been using the MiBass alot lately and I don't think there is any problem with 'weight' in the low end. I find that it has got a ton of low end yet still has definition so that every note is clear and not 'wooly'.
I definitely agree with this. I had a TC head for a few days, and I could hear the low end lacking in that so it went back, but the MiBass has masses of low end and great clarity to go with it. Infact, it is the first head I have owned where I have not had to boost the bass. I use it in both my bands, and I just can't fault it so far. It sits in the mix so well, and can punch through very nicely when needed to with just a small boost to the hi mids and treble. I am a very happy customer.
If you're looking for a better practice amp, maybe look at something like the Roland Cube amps. Still perfect for practice as they're not too loud, but offer good tone for their size and will crank a bit if needed, as and when you decide to join a band. They also have headphone sockets out too, so you can be even quieter if required.
massive +1 to this I have a roland micro bass cube for home practice and it sounds great. and if you feel the need to crank the volume, my god does it get loud! (Still sounds great loud too.)

I think who ever decided to 'customise' that in the first place deserves very bad things....(or at the very least a strong talking to.. ) but that is an incredible repair

+1 to keeping it simple. This is exactly how I got interested in playing bass when I was 11-12 One of my mum's friends used to come over with her bass every now and then, and she taught me a few really simple things. Stuff like how to pluck the strings, and fret notes etc, as well as 'Buck Rodgers' by Feeder. Really simple bassline, but really fun if you are into rock music. Finding out what kind of stuff she likes is definitely a great idea too

the most annoying one I've ever had is: "Me and my friend smoked too much weed earlier, and now I'm too high to drive." f*cking drummers....haha.

great review dood! I really enjoyed reading that, and if I ever start doing proper tours with a band, I know what my first purchase is going to be
-
oops, that's what I meant, haha cheers happy jack I seem have a tendency to miss out important words when typing, lol.

It looks like a nice bass and I am seriously tempted to second discreet's post and ask what you would like for it haha. Also, from looking at the other basses you have, my first thought is that fenders simply may not be your thing. None of your other basses are really close to a standard fender jazz, (although they are all very nice ), so I guess you want something different to what a fender jazz offers. I love my USA Jazz, but I definitely acknowledge that not everyone will see it the way I do.
-
it's things like that that make me feel hugely inadequate as a bass player haha. John Mayer has some really amazing bluesy stuff.

The GK Neos are really nice cabs, and I've only heard good things about the Super Twelve I would add the Epifani UL 212 to the list. I picked one up on here and it's amazing. Great sound, 700W RMS and light too.

you have more patience than me sir the last time someone asked me to tune that low (drop F) I told them to use a sensible tuning or **** off, lol.
For the money USA Fenders cost they should be getting it right every single f***ing time.
I know, it is worrying. However it can sometimes be difficult to judge what is not up to scratch, as everyone has different standards. (Obviously neck pocket gaps and rough wood underneath the finish are definitely not acceptable.
