2. This! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As-7yRJwN2s But, given a serious choice, this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNqBQ05GOKg
3. I bought a similar sort of thing for 30 quid off of the ebay, Its a P copy, and all you have to do is undo 4 phillips head screws at the back of the body and the entire neck can be changed for a fretless one. Quite clever.
4. I was thinking of getting a Sandberg decal put on this, do you think it looks the part? http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad50/vinnybassist/soundcheck_zps94d87c5e.jpg
5.
Do we have to use expensive oils or will Mr Sheen etc do the job? Or is it a big no no?
Get on with it - I clean all my basses with it as well as amp, pedals, leads, motorbike, bald head, the lot. It does nowt on tarnished frets, though.
6.
cool thanks!
...and a bit here, too! https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CEMQtwIwAg&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.co.uk%2Fprogrammes%2Fp01ldvgg&ei=b-JaU-qoB-7T7Aa154DwDQ&usg=AFQjCNHF_RE0NdAMLX8K0chgIm8sNpGHXw&sig2=MbqVUUMfEqH_BhEf5XFGcQ&bvm=bv.65397613,d.ZGU
7. Check out the documentary 'Plus...Tubular Bells' he talks about his bass playing with Kevin Ayres.
8.
Lowering the height of the neck pickup using the screws and raising the bridge one would be the first thing to try.
I'm sure its not that, the bridge pickup is plenty loud with the neck one disconnected. Its as if the bridge one becomes disconnected when the neck pickup is connected to the jack socket. Re-reading my OP, I probably should have said 'silent' rather than 'quiet'.
9. For no better reason than 'just to see what would happen' I've wired up my Peavey (passive 2H) with series/parallel switches. I did this http://www.guitar-mo..._4conductor.gif twice, (with colour differences etc.) just doubling the output to the jack. When connected up alone, both pickups work completely fine (switches, vols and tones) but when I connect both outputs to the jack the neck pickup completely overrides the neck pickup. Even with the bridge flat out, turning the neck vol down means the bass goes quiet. Its doin' m'yed in! I even stripped the whole show down and redid it twice with the same effect. Its this one, btw. 10.
Humblest apologies.
Reading those two words while looking at your profile picture has just put a massive grin on my face. Ta!
11.
Thankfully, they don't seem to have any basses.
There's one in the picture.
12.
Looks like an early/prototype Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer compressor thingummy jobbie to me, but I may be as wrong as I usually am......

When was that Jamerson photo taken? There were a few different manufacturers making effects units that plugged directly into the guitar or bass by the mid 70s.
Wow - I never heard of fx units in the jack socket before. Thanks guys, colour me educated!
13. 'Kay, then... https://soundcloud.com/vince-peters Click on the song name for any info, it was all done 'live' (i.e. one take) but with someone there recording them, so a much bigger crowd than I'm used to. There are videos of Emma's tracks, too. (Go find them if you wanna see them, I'm not your Mum! )
14. I call it Geoffrey. coat's on.
15.

That, Sir, is HURTFULLY pretty. Wow.
16. Just use the screws from those small, loud, trebly guitars. As long as the allen key is the same, the thread will be.
17. I can't view the other thread either, so I'm in on this one. Victim of mild pimpage with all black hardware and built-in wireless, and I just can't resist a Strat knob. So what if I like Strat knobs? Deal with it!
18.
Black Road Home's new video "Settle" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tJDQiClxn4
LOVE IT!!!
19. At the risk of this becoming the 'Four Yorkshiremen' sketch, I'm still known to gig this every once in a while (mostly because of having to turn up on me bike!) Musima P-copy £20. (with free gigbag) Lead to plug it in the desk £4 Pick 50p Live rig on a motorbike...priceless!
20. And... registered! Good spot, that man.
21. My vote comes in for the Samick Corsair, a proper P-bass in 24" scale. (got one and love it)
22. I've got the pink daisy and can't get over just what a fine instrument it is. Yes, I'm serious! It's also turning me into a big short scale fan, and if it weren't for the neck dive it'd be perfect. The nicest pick sound I've ever heard in fact. Gutsy, but not 'in-yer-face'. That's me being really technical, right there!

24. I am! Insofar as I can tell, it would seem that clamping the neck at the right angle in a suitable pillar drill is the hard part - I wouldn't trust my shaky mitts on doing it with a hand drill, I'd probably end up with tapered holes!
25. Mrs V got me this yesterday (cos she's good like that!) Anyone know what the thingy / doodad is on Jamerson's P bass on page 51? It looks to be 'twixt bridge and socket.
