1. Thanks for that BB3901. Sunday BUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2. It's Marcus Miller, Willie Weeks and Mark Stevens filling in the other bass tracks on 'Naughty'. Greg Phillinganes plays keyboard bass on two or three tracks and Abraham Laboriel does one track (maybe two) on 'What Cha Gonna Do For Me'. Pretty sure Will Lee only plays on 'Chaka'. But I could always be wrong, and I'm too damn lazy to pull out the cd covers to check
3. Ah, there's many a morning that's been lifted by the soaring spirit that is 'I'm Every Woman' - with the wonderful Will Lee on bass, and backing vocals. For me, it's one of those songs (and albums) that if it doesn't move you, then you must be dead.
4. Payment this same as if you were shipping nationally. And same as above - it's a flight case. Wrap it in brown paper if you must, but it's good as it is with some gaffa holding down the locks and big ol' address label taped to the front.
5. Well, I'm guessing it's £900 hard
6. Ta for that. Look forward to getting stuck into it.
7. ***SOLD*** Hey Folks - Up for sale is my Wren & Cuff Phat Phuk B that I bought from Dosi Y'Anarchy here about 5/6 weeks ago. In excellent condition and working perfectly. It's a Germanium input stage which handles the dirt and a JFET output stage that handles the volume boost. There's something magical about this pedal that seems to fill in the holes in your sound and give you a very full and rich tone without it sounding like it's EQ'd in any way. Here's a little bit more detail from it's maker: Price is what I paid 5/6 weeks ago - £100 insured postage, next day special delivery.
8. Hey Folks - Up for sale is my recently bought EBS MultiDrive that I got from Paul McNamara here about 5/6 weeks ago. It's in mint condition - not a scratch to be seen and it works perfectly. Just not what I was looking for so time to move it on. Selling for[s]£100[/s] [s]£95[/s] £90 including Next Day, Insured Special Delivery.
9. For subtle, nicely meshed with your original tone kind of overdrive - I'm totally digging my Wren & Cuff Phat Phuk B. It's a little sensitive to the output of your bass - the hotter the bass, the stronger the overdrive. It's subtle which I thought I wouldn't dig, but it's always on and always with me, so it's doing something right. Some good clips on their website.
10. Price drop to £125 posted bump.
11.
I have one of these and it's a great filter. I don't use it that much, but hang onto it in the hope that one day I can play as funky as Spencer!
Thanks for the bump Danny. Spencer sure has some funky bass faces going on.
12. Hey Folks - up for sale is my 3Leaf Audio Proton. It's a few months old, in mint condition and only gigged about three times. I've my eye on something else so this must go. Brand new they're £165 plus shipping. As this is as mint as a minty mint sucking Trebor XXX mints I'm asking for [s]£135 [/s] £125 posted next day special delivery. Here's what it does:
13. Funnily enough I had the same reaction when I broke the neck of a double bass once (tho not onstage, mine took a leap down a flight of stairs). I didn't even get annoyed - just resigned myself to the repair and smiled. Very strange to see a bass body without the bridge and tailpiece on. Just wrong. I don't know why I didn't freak out - maybe it's just inevitable with an upright.
14. As long as you follow it with '....or I'll have your knees done' you'll be fine. On a tangent derail - I'll be in Edinburgh soon with Jerry Fish & The Mudbug Club, on August 10th. Don't know the name of the venue yet but if you hear another Nordie accent kicking around it may well be me.
15. Damn that Irish Sea!!! If it weren't for the fragility of such a pretty thing I'd say 'Box the thing and to hell with the odds!!!' but that would be foolish. And make me sound like I was in Blackadder Goes Forth. Ergo - BUMP!!!!
16. You rock (in a classical sort of way of course) Thanks for this.
17. Anthony Jackson was her mentor for a few years (and may well still be). I sincerely doubt Anthony could care less who her partner is or would waste a second on someone he didn't believe in. Like or dislike the music/the playing - that's fine. Make statements that she's only successful because of who she is romantically attached to - that's pathetic.
18. I'm a lefty playing righty. Probably answers a lot of questions.
19. Have a bump - these are amazingly versatile and capable cabs. They cover a lot of ground and mine has never let me down.
20. Hey folks - quick message to the folks that emailed me today: I'll pass all your details on in the morning and reply to you then. It's 2:29am and I'm beat. Thanks for writing in.
21. I vote superglue!!! (And yes, I did jokingly change my mind on this on Clarky's double bass related thread). I nearly lost the tip of my left hand middle finger when I leant up against the corner of a fire door as it was closing, splitting my fingertip from one side of the nail to the other. I could pop it up to see the nice stump of my finger bone. Nice. Had a weekend of gigs a few days later. Girlfriend at the time bandaged it up with plenty of antiseptic. This was in 1998 - as far as I remember I just played everything, minus using my middle finger, as best I could. I vaguely recall my middle finger was bandaged to my third finger to stop it flailing about. So my vote is superglue, and try to avoid using your middle finger.
22. A relatively cheap alternative is a Boss LS-2, though you'll lose the phase option. A more expensive, and more flexible, alternative is the Xotic X-Blender. It has a lot more options than the Barge, such as an EQ on the FX loop, but it sure is pricey. Edit - I have an LS-2 so I'll give the Mulitdrive a spin later to see if it's on the right phase or not.
23. Yep, as far as I know they've ceased production - which is a damn shame. They made great products, and are good people too. Geoff Bryant, the main guy there, went out of his way to hand deliver two pedals to me at my hotel in New York - and this was in the middle of some very trying personal times, which could well have been a factor in their demise. Barge had also moved production to Long Island City from Brooklyn, around about the summer of 2008 - just as the recession was kicking off, so that could also have been a contributing factor. So if you see any of their pedals, they're very much worth getting. I have the VB-jr, an RC-2 compressor and a GLZ boost/variable impedance buffer. All good stuff - and all with north face mounted jacks which helps save on the pedal board space.
24.
I swallowed them first
Ok - well, that raises some serious questions as to how you got those blisters in the first place..........
