  1. The 'T' shaped body support that fits into the back of my Eminence EUB has suffered damage. Inside the body is a block of wood where the tapered 'stick' goes--the block has been dislodged and is rattling around inside the body--to big to get out through the hollow body 'f' holes--now no body support. Anybody any ideas regarding a new style body support?--on the upper bout.
  2. I play the following musical styles: New Orleans / Dixieland / The 'swing' style of the 1930's / 'Scuffle' style (Louis Prima ) / Gypsy Jazz / 'Transtlantic Sessions' style band. Anybody out there? Northumberland.
  3. Hi wateroftyne Many thanks for your reply--much appreciated.
  4. Hi Matt Many thanks for your reply to my post regarding amp repairs--much appreciated. Mike.
  5. Anybody know of a good amp tech in the North East?--north of Newcastle preferred.
  6. I am into a wide variety of styles: Gypsy Jazz / New Orleans / Dixieland / 'Swing Era--1930' 1940's / Bluegrass / Western Swing.
  7. Hi Bloopdad1 Many thanks for taking the time to enplane 'blockless'. The neck is stable--no issues with playing. The bass plays very well all the way up the fingerboard.
  8. Bloopdad1---I did not know what blockless meant. So did a search and appears to be where the neck meets the shoulders. See pics below: Does this help?
  9. Sell or Exchange my German Double bass. Written valuation in 2006 approx. between £4500 and £5000. Good acoustic sound and set up. Plays very well. Last year the bass had a 'health check'--all OK. Strings are Thomastick Spirocore 4/4 light bought new last year and had little use. Quite a few marks on the body of the bass--has had splits in the past, repaired in the past before I bought the bass--non since owned by myself. Fitted with Armstrong pickup--excellent sound with amp. Bought from a classical player approx. 40 years ago. Quality bass tuners. Comes with Mooradian padded bag/case. Reason for sale?--my age. Now playing EUB. Would exchange for Top Quality Acoustic Archtop Guitar (L5 style) depending what you have. PM me.
  10. Have you Spirocore Stark E to sell? If so send me details: Price / condition / photo of windings. If possible would you measure the actual string length from the ball end to the bottom of the top winding? (String playing length). The reason is my bass has a 43" scale length and not sure if the bass is a 3/4 or 4/4 size. Price to negotiate. PM me.
  11. Selling my collection of Bluegrass vinyl LP's. 65 LP's in total--some are double LP's--so more than 65 LP's. Fair Condition. Some top Bluegrass bands--lots of Bluegrass banjo. Buyer collects. Northumberland. PM me.
  12. Thanks for your reply. But not required.
  13. Those of you who use a mic between the bridge feet (in the arch), what method did you use to fit the mic? That is pointing the mic towards the fingerboard. Would appreciate a photo if possible. Many thanks.
  14. Many thanks for your reply to 'Job Lot' but unfortunately sold. gypsyjazzer
  15. Having a clearout. Over the years I have accumulated various tuners, put in a drawer. They are all used condition, need cleaning--'odds & ends'. They include classical style / mandolin / steel strung guitar / friction tuners. Not all sets. Buyer takes 'pot luck'. Includes a set of 4 'Fender' bass guitar tuners. Price includes postage to the UK. PM me.
  16. Wanted magnetic pickup. What have you? Price? Send me a PM with pics.
  17. Sold to me from a double bass player many years ago. The two pickups were originally connected as a pair. They have been split so I connected one to each bridge wing so I could blend the two. Can be used separately if required on separate double basses. The pair will sell for £75 to include postage. PM me. (The fawn coloured pickup is a very thin shin attached to wedge it into place in the bridge wing).
  18. I am looking for a new bridge for an Eminence EUB. Anybody know where in the UK who can supply? I can find bridges for a DB but non for an EUB.
  19. Hi Knicknack Interesting pickup for DB. No experience of them. I notice that the box in the picture says: UK. Is that the Kent Armstrong pickups made in the USA? As I have no experience of the pickup in the photo you sent could you answer the following questions? a) What is 'Duel Lock' to the end of the fingerboard? Does it attach with velcro? (In the past I did have a pickup that attached with velcro and the pickup would fall off.) b) Am I right in thinking that the 4 'posts' are adjustable pole pieces for each string? What is the centre to centre measurement between each pole screw? c) I notice that there are 2 seperate leads in the photo--explain why two leads and their function? d) What is the input to the pickup---1/4" jack and 1/4 inch jack to the amp? e) Asking price? Many thanks, gypsyjazzer
